Thanks. Giving them a call now. I think I may be out of luck though as I got a UA verison with a manufacturer date of 05/15.

i think they got by serial number and so long as its within 18 months of "manufacture date" you should be fine.

Thanks for your help. On hold now. Hopefully I can get some good news.

Edit: They gave me a number to a repair center in my area, but said I would need to provide them with a receipt.

What the heck? The line is gone this morning after being there all night on all sources. I even tried power cycling a few times last night to no avail.

Edit: Can anyone link me to a warranty service that I can purchase in case I have any more issues? I was going to go with Squaretrade, but they don't cover Warehouse deals I believe.

I did call LG back even though my issue resolved on it's own. They informed me that my 1 year warranty expired on July 15th, and that if I did need any service, I would need to provide them a receipt, so they could verify that it was not an open box purchase.

Currently I have the UA model, I really need to call LG to get them to upgrade to UB for me.

My question is this, I recently got Washer/Dryer from Sears and had huge delivery nightmare. Anyway, they gave me a lot of points such that I can get a new Samsung 4K new BluRay player for about $50 instead of paying full $350, but I am debating about if I should. Here is why. I have a Blu Ray Samsung 3D player I have had for years, my wife is the only one using it for her workout videos. When I got the 9600 I went and bought a couple 3D BluRay disks to try the current player with the OLED TV, and get an error that the player can't play those disks because I guess I have too old of a blu ray player.

So this would be a replacement for that. But having known that I have never used the current old Blu Ray player for maybe 20 hours total of playing over the years that maybe I just keep it for my wife to use for her workouts and forget about needing one that does 4K UHD with HDR.

What do you guys think, is it a must have? Should I use the points for something else? I also still have an ONKYO 704? Which doesn't do 4K and could upgrade there. But the only thing now going through it to the TV is the old Blu Ray player and my Apple TV 4. I use the LG apps for NFLX and Hulu and Amazon which have their own 4K content (Well not Hulu)

Thanks

Mark

Has anyone experienced over pixelation with HDR involving smoke, sand and fog? I've noticed this in some scenes with Independence Day UHD Blu-ray and Batman v Superman UHD Blu-ray. It's a little distracting when it happens but, I'm a little puzzled as why it does. I have the contrast turned a bit because I thought that was maybe an issue but, to no avail the issue remains. Aside from this issue with HDR I can't complain.

Most members here buy these high end tv's to match their high end components. To get the best picture and sound as possible. Some use them for HDTV/movies, some for gaming/HTPC. If you don't watch Bluray movies/UHD 4K movies, you are defenitely aren't seeing the tv in all it's glory (potential). Yea streaming is great but it's not native content.

Only you can answer if it's a must have. Isn't that why we buy 4K tvs to watch native 4K content whenever possible? If you don't and don't get a new UHD player , there is no need to upgrade to ub model. You will get HDR with streaming.

Media room- 65" Panasonic FZ950 OLED, Pioneer Elite VSX-90, Panasonic UBD-820 4K, Klipsch Gallery G28's, Klipsch Sub 12, Klipsch RS-52 II, Optik HD cable

Living room- Sony 4K 79XBRX900B, Onkyo RC-360,HTPC,Klipsch Reference R-62II,Rc52II,PS4
Gaming room -Panasonic ST60, PS3, Wii

Latinoheat thanks for the reply.

Isn't there more native 4K content on YouTube, Netflix and Amazon than in physical disks? I just haven't bought or needed a physical disk of anything in years. I can count on my hand how many times over the past 6+ years that I have had the current BluRay player that I even used it. I have extremely high speed internet access that 4K content is a breeze.

Thanks

Mark

Anytime you stream is not native, Yea it's 4K but compressed. It looks great because these are great tvs. But with your viewing habits I would just enjoy what you have now. It's really up to you. Asta luego.

I know this has been mentioned in bits and pieces here and there but has anyone come up with a somewhat definitive way to watch 3D? So far Truemotion has helped tremendously but I was also wondering if there were other changes like lowering contrast, increasing OLED lighting, etc., has helped anyone else maximize their experience.

I notice that the picture is brighter at the exact same settings. Having said that I always watch with OLED light at 100 and contrast up. What does truemotion add to 3d?

Upstairs - Sony 75x940e: soundbar - Klipsch R-20B
Basement - BenQ HT3050: screen - Elite 125" motorized ATS: speakers - RF-7IIx2, RC-64II, RS-41IIx2, RS-42IIx2, AVR Denon x4000 -- subs PC-12NSD + RW12D
Bedroom - LG 65eg9600: soundbar - LG SH3K

Much material I found to be unwatchable until I turned it on. It was a game changer for me. That's why I wondering if there is other changes I can make, too. I plan on setting a mode specifically for 3D...at least that's the plan.

While watching HDR through Amazon, is there a reason that some of the scenes look grainy? Specifically dark scenes?

Not regretting this purchase at all so far. I got a UA verison, but not going to bother playing the return game with Amazon Warehouse trying to get a UB, as this is already a huge upgrade over my 55ST30. Even watching Netflix in 1080p, this TV is just stunning. My only worries are that I am not covered under any warranty if anything goes wrong with it being an open box purchase from AWD, but I guess that is the risk I took buying an open box TV. Is it possible to buy an extended warranty through LG even though I purchased it as an open box?

Edit: Saw the posts a few pages back about the extended warranty LG offers through a 3rd party company. Before I call them, does anyone know if they cover Amazon Warehouse deal purchases?

Edit 2: They do cover Amazon Warehouse deal purchases. Got a 1 year warranty for $49.99. Was not able to get the $34.99 rate posted a few pages back, but $49.99 is still cheap, and I gladly payed it for a little peace of mind.

Yeah, I was definitely surprised to see that early of a manufacturer date. Oh well, I guess. The set actually only had 10 hours on it when I got it. I have been trying to do some reading in this massive thread. Looks like these earlier sets were plagued with a lot of issues? Should I be on the look out for anything in particular? Ran some of those vignetting tests from Youtube. 10% seemed fine to me. 5% was a little worse, but to my eyes looked ok compared to some of the photos I've seen.

On mine, the Amazon HDR looks horrible (very dark and grainy) and i'm unable to adjust the color whatsoever. Regular 4K looks fantastic. Man in the High Castle and Bosch look like crap. They looked fantastic on my Sony 850B before I sold it. I would prefer to be able to turn the HDR off so I can use my own picture settings.

Question HDR On The 65EG9600

I looked around on this site before posting, but didn't see a post that directly answered my question.
I just purchased the LG 65 EG9600 today & it's being delivered tomorrow. The sales rep told me that there either is now or coming a software update which would include the ability to play HDR via HDMI. So my question is, is this true & my next question is will the HDMI port(s) be upgraded to 2.0a in order to take advantage of the new 4K blu-ray player?

UB panel will play HDR over HDMI, UA panel will not , you could get either but most likely you will get a UB panel

Will the UB panel play it without needing a software upgrade?

Thanks,

It depends , mine was a March 2016 build and the latest software was installed , if not no big deal, they come out with updates from time to time you will need to update to anyway ,it's all done on the Internet and you can set the tv to do updates automatically .

Can't comment on the BB one but both the original LG and the LG Extended Warranty program offer either a replacement set (which JUST happened in my case with an upgrade from a 2015 model 9600 to a 2016 C6).. The extended warranty program offered on their site through a third party mirrors LG.. that being either 100% refund of original price or replacement.

P.S. The repair guy LG sent out was an LG employee... :-)

Here are my near black slides from my AWD (Amazon Warehouse Deals) 505 build FWIW. Only had 10 hours on it when I got it a week or so ago, very low for that old of a build. I could not find the 1-4% slides on the AVSHD709 disc, so I just casted them to the TV from my PC. Appreciate any input on them.

I think the outer sides will blend in over some more time.. but not sure about the banding in the center. :-( I'd call LG and get their thoughts. I don't think the fact that the slides are coming off the PC would generate this..

Just bought this TV through amazon and unfortunately I got a UA panel. Man, that stinks. I was debating if I wanted to send it back and play the panel lottery. Thoughts?

Question - My Amazon app on the TV doesn't seem to play 4K, or for that matter, HDR. Everything plays at 1080p. Anyone else have this issue? Netflix and YouTube play 4K without issue. Also, it seems like the Vudu app doesn't support 4K either?

Any update on this? I noticed that Netflix updated last night, but haven't had a chance to test it.

Thanks. Unfortunately with it being such an old set (505), I was told by LG it was not under warranty. I did just purchase an extended warranty through LG's third party warranty service, but do you think that would be enough of a defect for them to do anything? I haven't really noticed the vertical banding to be honest during regular content. One thing I have noticed though, forgive me if I am describing it wrong, is there seems to be a lot of noise/blotchiness during some darker scenes. Don't think this is a source issue, as I have noticed it on blurays as well. Will try to get some photos tonight.
