Has, or can, anyone who attended the shootout in person have an opinion on the Panny and why the colors look too bright graying out blacks? Is it the camera angle? This is not what I expected a VA panel with "local dimming pro" to look like particularly one with a "176 degree" viewing angle. Also, any confirmation on the apparent news that Panasonic only has 30 dimming zones?

The view angle makes it impossible to know what any of the TVs truly looked like. From the camera angle though it looked like Sony was the best to my eyes.

Sony 75x940e l LG B6 65" | Denon X4000 | Definitive Technology SM65 (L/R) | Definitive Technology Mythos 10 (C) | HSU VTF-3 MK5 HP

Input Lag Results:

LG: 50.8ms or 57.8ms (Couldn't hear him clearly)
Sony: 36.2ms
Samsung: 21.0ms
Panasonic: 39.8ms

The Sony results were very different on the Trusted Review at 20ms.

I have heard from the floor that the Sony is getting the best of the buzz. The LG is a disappointment from what I hear. Tim Alessi does not look like a happy camper.

I know it is a low Quality feed. But my Feeling is that the sony could just win the shootout.

He said Samsung reached that speed by disabling all processing. He said they scarified picture quality for speed.

Tim Alessi was visibly upset at the end just before the feed was cut off. With only 4 sets,it will be easier to give the sets a real examination.

I'm disappointed they didn't clarify what settings they had enabled when they measured it and how they measured it (leo bodnar with the top, middle or bottom bar?)

I've measured the X940C to be 36.3ms, so they're very likely using middle bar reading. Not sure how trusted reviews got the 20ms number. I thought 20 was too good to be true, and it is!

Trustedreview measured the 940C at 20ms . So I also wonder what processing was enabled at the shootout to get 36.2ms instead of 20ms.

Biggest shocks from the little I saw of the "shootout" on livestream.

LG rep admitting to "panel anomaly" regarding dark edge problem.
Only 1080p material shown during evaluation.
No HDR material shown.
Samsung 20ms input lag
Annoying flicker of Sony that was picked up by the camera.
Panasonic looking washed out maybe because of angle.
Sony to dull and dark.
Samsung way to bright.
OLED yellow color problem.

After seeing them all, I will keep my F8500 plasma a few more years until all these new technologies improve just a little more.

I have seen that issue with the LG but was told I was seeing things. Tim was not happy. There was no HDR shown as only the Sammy can do HDR. Joe Kane is demoing HDR tomorrow on that display. 4K was shown at the end of the demos once the ballots were in.

I too will be holding on to my 141.

I think that "panel anomoly" quote could bite him in the azz and get him in trouble. It is rare to get a company to own up to problems. The corporate line is always a non committal "we are looking into the matter"

I'm thinking the same thing as well. Samsung has such a very narrow sweet spot on viewing angles with their panels. The Sony looked better on black level blooming and halo. That's about only thing I can judge on that low res choppy feed.

I will look at it carefully but I am sure most of what you saw was due to it being so off axis.

LOL. I was getting 720p stream. Is that not HD? They were only showing 1080p to begin with. I'm just kidding you. I know the camera and the camera angle was causing a lot of problems, but you do get some idea of how they perform.

I wasn't making my judgments from what I saw as you can't tell anything. I was really interested in what I could hear. Fortunately, many of the people there, including Tim Alessi didn't realize where the camera was. Some interesting comments. I will vote tomorrow based on what I see there, not the shootout feed.
