Very sorry. I would be interested in your comparison of your new tv and the 9100.

anyone else using the DLNA Smart Share App on this tv to play their movies? I find the playback to be smoother using smartshare tv app as opposed to my popbox movie player. I always keep trumotion off for my 24 fps movies with real cinema option on. Since Real Cinema option is not greyed out while using the smart Share app I take it to mean the app is correctly displaying 24fps content. From now on i plan to play all my h264 avc bluray remuxes from my nas media server with smart Share app on this TV. it also supports toggling on and off subtitles. I just wish interface was better with poster/ movie info. I Haven't tried Plex app on this tv yet. I suppose that has nice movie poster interface? If I used Plex Id have to keep my PC on all the time versus dlna smartshare app with my nas requires no pc. Im supposed to use Black level "low" when using SmartShare dlna right?
I'm now using a lg hdmi Soundbar with ARC option The sends volume signals made on the TV remote right to the soundbar so the only remote I need now for all my purposes is the one that comes with this TV. Nice simplification!

Some shows on our local public television station (via DirecTV) have a very thin line across the top of the screen. The line consists of black and white spaces. Some areas randomly pulsate. This does not appear on any other station. Is there any adjustment I can make to get rid of this distracting line?

Change from Just Scan to 16:9. This is why overscan was invented. Vertical blanking interval

Anyone has a line for one of these? So far the best seems a refurbished unit on Ebay for $1100 with F/S.

Unless you can get a sub $1000 deal, you're better off passing on the EG9100 and looking at the OLED55b6p.

Ok, two questions dinnertime here may be able to answer fur me: The HDMI ports on this tv, are they 1.4? And from my reading, does this mean that even if I could force output of SDR 1080p BT.2020 (through an HD Fury for example), this tv would not accept it?

Setup:

I don't think anyone has tried so you'd be the first. They are likely v1.4 or at least they act like it even if they are technically higher.

Ok thanks for the info. I'm undecided if I want to spend the 450 or so for an HD Fury plus 4K BDP. Reasonable price if it works but I'm not sure I'll see any gains

I was downloading these into my phone. I used my samsung hdmi adapter along with my generic Home Depot high speed cable. I'm pretty sure my 1.4's worked as well.

LG Sound Bar

I am moving my 55eg9100 from my Entertainment Center to a family room and want a simple setup for the family to use. I am thinking an LG soundbar but haven't keep up on what others on here are using. Looking for good sound - so not a cheap sound bar.

Is anyone running the LG SJ9 dolby atmos with their eg9100? Don't see anything using search.

Suggest you consider the Bose SoundTouch 130 home theater system (soundbar w/Acoutimass module), https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/...0_special.html
or the newer
Bose 300 soundbar along with 300 Acoustimass wireless bass module, https://www.bose.com/en_us/products/...300_pkg_st_300.

We own the 130 and love it!

Thanks, MERC I will research the Bose 130 more. Right now leaning toward the Paradigm Soundscape (I have higher end Paradigm in my home theater setup), the Soundscape seems to nail simplicity and quality sound , may not even need a sub as it goes down to 40Hz, but it does support a sub if needed. The Bose is cheaper, so need to look at it more, maybe find a comparison review between the two.

I believe original is "just scan" and you cannot do any scaling on built in apps.

Well been more then a few days but I'm back, still wish my EG9100 was still functional but now it rests on the floor of my second bedroom with a far to early demise. The KS8500 mostly just because of the 4k/HDR/65" is a better TV then the EG9100, I do miss the perfect blacks from the EG9100 though. The blacks are decent on the KS8500 but as any LCD you suffer from light and bloom issues which OLED does not have. Other then that the KS8500 has a fantastic picture. Really wanted a 65" OLED but just couldn't stomach the extra 1k in price.

No, The screen is toast so I have to believe it would be expensive. I really wouldn't want to spend more then $300 or so on it at this point, I bet the screen replacement would be $700 and up and for 1080P I don't see it being worth it anymore.

LG SJ9 sound bar not playing well with 9100

I picked up an LG SJ9 ATMOS soundbar yesterday to use with my 55eg9100 LG OLED, I knew that the LG 2016 model OLEDs do not support ATMOS, so I am connecting my TIVO DVR to the SJ9 HDMI in port. The issue is with the ARC connection to the 9100, when I turn on simplink on the TV so that it can control the on/off of the SJ9, it only turns it off, not on. Plus when I turn on simplink on the tv the SJ9 switches its input to the ARC input, it does not stay on the HDMI input to the Tivo.

I still need to play some more with settings on the tv to see if that corrects the problem, plus still need to update the firmware in the SJ9. I think my HDMI cables are ok, they are Amazon high speed cables with ethernet about 1 year old.

Hi does somebody knows if I can manually update to the US version if I have the south american fw? Mine is still 4.05.05 that is the latest on EG9100-SB but in the US there is more updates, EG9100-UB 4.05.25. I dont want to brick the tv or something

Do they use NTSC or PAL down there? If you use NTSC, you should examine the FW file name from your region compared to US. They will have the same filename if they are compatible. If they are not the same file name, they are definitely not compatible.

Do you mean this?=
Software upgrades include device drivers and firmware updates only for specific models. Check your owner's manual to determine if your product supports software upgrades.

Please check the Model List in the Reference section, paying special attention to the end (i.e. xxx-UA)

My model ends in SB, EG9100-SB
