I just did.

Missing my OLED that I returned earlier this week (open box + coupon from best buy, seemed new in box though) due to tinting and a faint line that wasn't just banding, but I think I will just live with whatever crap shoot this panel comes with.

OLED is so friggin nice,

I could have gotten 9600 for around $2300 and probably shipping, but that's still like almost double the price of this set, even being a great deal for one that goes for $3000 on sale from best buy right now.

Yes, it's possible.
You need to get a mount with variable ficing points (pardon my English, it's not my native language). Horizontal screws are not located the same as vertical ones. I purchased the mount that allowed such installation, I don't know if it's available in US but here it is: Vogel's W52070 (I'm not allowed to post links yet but you can easily google it).
I had no problem mounting tv to it and it's doing just great and has all I need.

Pulled the trigger on the Adorama deal yesterday. Obviously hoping I don't have and/or notice any defects, but having a positive association with Adorama in the past (wife is a long time photog) offered me some mental reassurance I'm dealing with a credible retailer.

Thanks to this active community for helping decide. Upgrading from a really 35"(!) Sony XBR LCD which, while very nice picture quality and contrast (better than many of the LED sets I saw at Best Buy, IMO), will be a nice addition to the bedroom. Can't wait to receive the shipping confirmation!!

QQ - where will I find the build number?

I'm a long-time lurker in the AVS forums and just wanted to drop in to this thread. I have owned the 55EG9100 for almost 3 months. I bought it from Buydig off of eBay around Black Friday.

I can unequivocally say this is the best television I have ever owned. The picture is absolutely superb. I have none of the problems with dead pixel, vignetting, banding or any others.

I was in the market for a 4k panel and was about to pull the trigger on either a Sony x850c or Samsung j8500. Instead I went with OLED and I'm very happy.

Woot!

It's the 1st three digits of the serial number. I've got a 601 build (Jan 2016).

No kidding? Is this kind of a recurring thing then? Is one better to buy from than the other?

I wouldn't say that's a given, just speculative.

I think buy dig only came up once two months ago and this adorama deal twice now,

iirc

Thanks. I will keep my eyes open and will jump on this should it come up again. Where do you usually find out about this deal?

My apologies. It appears that this setting is also available on 1080i sources.

All of my input sources are 1080p. My Comcast X1 box doesn't allow you to pass native resolution so it's set at 1080p. If if set to 1080i, I get interlacing artifacts on teh GUI. But if the TV attempts to pull a 24fps signal out of 1080i, it may be worth setting the cable box to that resolution.

You can set an alert on slickdeals for the particular model so you are emailed when it goes on sale. Just ensure that you are buying from a trusted seller such as Adorama or BuyDig. Personally I bought from BuyDig and they shipped it on a Sunday and it came overnight. The item was double boxed with bubble wrap between the first and second box with thick foam padding on the corners. Needless to say, the item was flawless.

Sometimes BeachCamera deals pop up and I've heard they aren't an authorized reseller.

Amazon sells "Z-lines designs" tv stands which have vertical bars which are movable in the horizontal direction. Additionally the holes on the bars are oval so as to give sufficient amount of play to easily mount the 9100/9600. I have one of these stands and it took about 5 minutes to securely mount to my new 55EG9100.

where ever you buy from- see if they'll match Best Buy's free mount promo... they're giving you the LG mount for free.

Yes, as others said- it is possible- we used our old mount as well- which has a wider horiztonal bar with multiple location options.

Is there any reason to think that tint can develop or get worse over time? My experience with these OLEDs is that tint is usually not seen at all at first after unboxing, but comes after a few hours of use at least. I've been using my 9100 now for about 55 hours or so, and I have some tint to the right but it is not a deal breaker and I can live with it. My only worry is that it is going to get worse with more use, so that the red tint gets more intense or that tint creeps in from the other side as well. Is there any basis for this? For you guys who saw the tint in the early stages of owning your 9100, has it changed anything after hours of use? Has it gotten better or worse with more hours put into the TV.

I really love this set and as I said if the tint stays the way it is now I can definitely accept it, no display is perfect and the tint is the only thing I can even think of as a criticism of this TV. The reason I'm asking is also cause with my plasma the whites turned a bit red with age so it would make sense something similar could happen with oled.

I don't have any objective measurements to back this up, but to my perception the reddish tint that was apparent on the right 25% of the screen using a 100% white test pattern has decreased substantially. Although I can still see something, I really have to look for it. And I have never been able to spot it during normal viewing. My wife agrees with my perception--she saw it clearly when I showed it to her after first receiving the TV, but when we recently viewed the test screen again (after ~120 hours of viewing) we both considered it considerably less noticeable.

BuyDig has done it at least 5 or 6 times since Oct. I believe this is Adoramas 2nd or 3rd time doing it.

You just have to keep checking slickdeals.net all the time. Sometime the deals last for only 24hrs or until product is gone.

I have one of these that I picked up in November. It's pretty awesome (though the menu seems laggy and slow. I don't understand why they don't put a decent mobile processor in these TVs).

Do you guys know anything about 1080p HDR content? Is that a special type of bluray or what? Not trying to derail the thread, but if someone could link me to a resource that would be great. Thanks!

They don't plan to make 1080p HDR content and no current TVs support it so there is nothing to read.

It's certainly capable regardless of the resolution but it looks like LG is going to reserve HDR capabilities to their premium 4k OLED TVs.

Besides you would need a source that is transmitting HDR content. There's going to be blu-ray players that are HDR capable and blu-ray DVDs that have movies mastered in HDR.

Hope it works out well for you. Adorama does not allow returns on televisions this large unless it was broke in shipping. Once you open the box, they won't accept a return if you decide you don't want it. They are a LG authorized retailer though so if something is seriously flawed with your screen, LG will honor the factory warranty. I don't blame you for buying it through them, that price is incredible they keep offering it for on eBay.

The TV looks amazing so I guess I should just be happy with what I have. That being said, I guess I won't be able to watch the HDR release of Force Awakens when it comes out.

Could you post a picture of white screen please?

I'm wondering how clean these OLED panels can get and if it is worth to exchange mine, which has red tint.

I'm too afraid to post one honestly cause I'm happy as heck and don't wanna think less cause of Internet scrutiny

But with 200 hours on it, if the pic doesn't change at all from here since it's probably well broken in, I'm pleased as can be. Especially for 1000 bucks
no faint vertical line on left and no pink on left third that was noticeable on my other set

The banding is pretty mellow too compared to other set

I'm just so ecstatic!! The pursuit is done until 4K oled 65"s drop like a rock not pricing in several years. I'll happily wait it out though and maybe not even wait period

This set is amazing! I wouldn't expect pure white on a white blank screen but in real world use looks perfect to me with content I think uniformity is the hurdle. Unless your set is really red. If you post a pic I'll tell ya if it's within reasonable. But the real question is if characteristics of your set bother you.

Cell phone camera is a tough one to get a pic of too

Won't be using it as a monitor

I'm noticing the "reds" on this panel (I have the 9100, build 601) can get really neon looking. The following settings could exacerbate red tinting/banding on a white background. I don't have any pink/red banding on a white background with this display, but I did notice my reds were just too red for my taste. My "Color Extension Engine" in Advanced Settings was set at Medium. I turned this setting off. Also, my "Color Gamut" was set to "Wide". I set it to Standard and the combination of modifying these two settings made reds more realistic. The neon look is gone. This might help reduce/eliminate pink/reddish banding on a white background too.

I think standard color gamut is preferred to wide, tint aside too for this set iirc.

I know I'm going to be obnoxiously positive, but I can't believe I have an OLED 55" in my apartment now, without glaring defects and for an insane non-OLED price.

I had a flagship plasma tv for just 2 yrs before its display crapped out on me, and I'm not missing that tv at all. By my critical viewing, this OLED is in a class on its own. The shading/blacks/contrast ratios produce an amazing 3-dimensional-like, 2D image, which is head and shoulders beyond what my plasma tv produced. Not to mention there is no heat coming off the tv (my plasma was a heater). Plus, the tv weighs only 28 lbs (without stand). The 9100 is just a pleasure to watch, during the day with lots of ambient light or in a bat cave with a little backlighting. State of the art 1080p, at a very reasonable price!!
