I thought the LG was as bright as the Samsung?

Someone mentioned 95fL, and my F8000 is ca. 97fL.

full field white got me around 40fl (if I remember correctly). Smaller windows get very bright, on par or exceeding my old lcd.

Yes, I'd say that is a pretty safe bet.

If the 55EF9500 gets down to a discounted price of $2500 by Black Friday, that could mean we'll see the 65EF9500 get discounted down to somewhere between $3750 - $4500 by then

$4000 for the 65EF9500 versus $6000 for the Vizio R65 or $7000 for the Sony 75X940C would make for a pretty easy decision

Ok, I'm concerned about brightness because my living room is rather bright.

My F8000 is bright enough for my needs though, so I hope the 65EF9500 will be as well.

Is there any HDR content available for this TV yet? Any exciting samples? I was streaming the life of pi HDR demo through the youtube app, but wasn't sure if the app itself was ready to take advantage of HDR.

If you have a store close by I would go to the store, however, you can do it online and its really not an issue.

No problems, can't imagine they're any worse than a normal online store. The only problem is the closest Exchange is Travis AFB ( I'm close to San Jose Calif. ) but hopefully I won't have to deal with a return. Again thanks for the info.

The 55EG9600 is $2200 street now, so yeah, I think $3200 is kinda still a bit high... especially since LG just dropped the MSRP to $3999.

Still, that $3200 is the best price on the net today . Hopefully by black Friday it'll be closed to the curved in price.

2200 street from a reputable dealer? I don't see any yet, just those bait and switch places that try to upsell you.

Edit: $3K or slightly below still seems to be the true going rate for now.

I haven't called them up or tried to buy from them because I want the flat, but the ones I saw that "look reputable" to me is East Coast TVs. They have it for $2200. Some of the other ones at that price range look "shady" to me. They are highly rated on Google, they do have some neg feedback I guess.

I think every place tries to upsell you on junk. Do your homework before hand and know exactly what you want and what you don't want and refuse the upsell.

If they can't do the advertised deal then walk.

And of course, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS... pay with a credit card.

In the off chance you get scammed, the credit card company will refund your money. Let them deal with it. I don't even go through eBay or Amazon buyer protection anymore. Takes too long and too much hassle. Credit card gives you back the money right away.

Hey Guys....so I've been a lurker on this forum for months..waiting for the perfect time to get an OLED TV. I figured I would get the LG 65EF9500 around black friday when prices were better...but I saw this morning that it had dropped $1000 at best buy, I couldn't wait so I bit the bullet and bought it!!! Out of the box I have to say I love it! A few questions...

For those who have the TV, what are your picture settings? So far I've played around with it, but it's just too overwhelming. I've settled in watching it in GAME mode, since it seems to have the best color/contrast/image.

I've been watching the NFL all day and it looks great. I know what everyone is going to ask...I would love to post pictures about the grey %, but I'm such a noob with these things. How do you even do that on the TV? Do you need a separate device? Any help would be great! I'd love to post pictures.

I don't have an account, but just wanted to verify that this is the 55ef9500 and not the 1080p 55ec9300, which I was able to find with a search.

Thanks,

Your comment is, I think, the first owner comment on 3D performance. Can you say more?

Did you notice any double images? If you get a chance to test 3D again, try moving your viewing angle up and down, then left and right. The EG9600 had a narrow vertical sweet spot before introducing cross talk, especially noticeable at sides of the screen. I'm wondering if the curve of the EG contributed to that and if the flat EF screen handles 3D better.

Thanks!

ECTV is notorious for 'bait and switch' but if you know how to negotiate and avoid being upsold without hanging up on them, you apparently can get good TVs at discounted prices from them.

Their pricing is also usually a good forward-indicator of where prices are heading in the broader market.

So while their price of $2260 on the 55EG5600 supports the Military Exchange-only price of $2500 for the 55EF9500, their price of $3330 on the 65EG9600 is even more exciting as a suggestion that prices on the 65EF9500 may be well below $4000 before then end of the year...

So I got went to BB today and got the 55 inch EF9500. I have not officially testd it but have used it for an hour with regular use. The upscaling is pretty good but nothing to be excited about. The contrast is fantastic though, especially during dark scenes. I played Destiny on PS4 for 10 minutes and tunnel areas (pitch black) are much easier to navigate. 4K content on YouTube and Netflix is awesome, crisp picture with perfect contrast. No lag or stuttering in fast moving scenes. On everyday content no vignetting issues. I have been watching NFL Redzone and the colors seem more vibrant.

Costco and Bestbuy are selling the 55EC9300 for $2000 and ECTV has it for $1420...

Checked it twice, they might have it posted wrong but that's what it says. I thought it strange especially with the price that they are selling the 55EF9500.

Wow. $250 / 11% more for 4K and HDR (and flat) - that kind of makes for a no-brainer

Mikef5 is correct on the price day before yesterday it was 1999.00 like everyone else and went back up. For some reason the exchange prices can fluctuate quite a bit from day to day. Their sales usually start on Friday instead of Sunday like most others do, then other prices just seem to take random drops without notice.

Okay, got the Bodnar working for me, had to shut off all the lights in the room. Consistently scoring in the mid-forties. Switching the input to PC does NOT seem to have any effect on the input lag - though the highest reading I got was indeed when I was switched to PC. Took the readings from the top bar.

So I think we can conclusively say at this point that the input lag has been improved, scoring lower than even my old ZT60 at points.

Good that you got it to work, you should take the readings from the middle bar though. That's how readings are usually done.
Would be great if you could give it another try.
