Question Black Friday 4K TV

Hello,

This is my first post on this great forum. Sorry in advance if I am posting this new thread in the wrong location...

To make a long story short, I purchased a 4K TV last year on black Friday for 1500$can (1123$US based on today's exchange rate). It was a Samsung, model UN50HU8550FXZA.

Since then, I separated and the wife kept that TV... I have been shopping for a new 4K TV since then, but somehow I cannot find a similar deal... ??? Why a year ago I could get a great 4K TV for 1500$ but this year I can only get a crappy one for the same price (Series 6 vs series 8)???

I have been waiting for black Friday for months hopping to get the same type of deal. I now fear this is impossible. A year later, the equivalent product is somehow twice the price! Can someone explain why?

The only company that offer a 4K TV in that price range is Visio... Not exactly the brand-name I am looking for (but might be ok...)

So, within the next week it's time for me to move forward and buy a new TV for that house. Any suggestion?
Specs :
4K
55 to 65" My new house is bigger
120Hz or more
DHCP 2.2
Budget is not the main issue, I just want to make an equivalent deal this year...

I am very confused/surprised/frustrated with the market evolution over the last year on 4K TV's and I can use advises before spending a big chunk of hard-worked money!

Thanks

All feedback / suggestion welcomed.

Samsung is running a big sale actually, the 65js8500 is 1999 virtually everywhere. And yes, it easily beats the hu8550.

Right now the 55JS8500 is $1499, so there are actually some very good deals right now.

Good thread, I'm just in the middle of major house renos and need a new TV as well and was wondering about Black Friday deals. Thinking about waiting to boxing day too but definitely time to starting lurking around here again so I can jump on something when the right opportunity presents its self.

snagged js9000 for 1599 with free 1tb wd cinema 4k drive + a 29" samsung whd computer monitor for free (old ad was showing on the js9000 series with monitor next to it at BB) but no exp date on the tv ad so BB had to eat $599 list)

the js9000 is a great tv. that was my second choice. the third would have been the js9500.
