This may sound stupid, but have you changed the audio setting on the tv to output audio through optical or arc? I forgot to do that once

I think the 3% slide looks great. No vignetting with near dark live content.
Live action NCAA tonight was stunning.

Near black banding greatly diminished in comparison to the EF9500. I guess you haven't seen any banding near black in regular content either?

To other G6 owners:
How can I mirror content from my iPhone to the G6 directly? (without using Apple TV)?

@nhey: How many hours has your tv been running so far? How many hours standby? These pics show a bit more banding than the others so far and go in the 2015 oled direction. I dont like it.

I see two very faint vertical lines on nhey's 3% pic, but this really looks like another improvement.

I have to squint to see the blue band that nhey is talking about. It's very faint.
Retracted my Pana OLED comments since it's been a while I saw a near black screen of that one.

Yeah well and maybe the camera really adds some stuff to it. How about some pics from a football game maybe or some movies whatever so we can search for banding ^^

But nhey indicated that blue area is only showing up through the camera. He doesn't see it himself when looking at it.

True, nothing else matters.
This is a small detail, but I'd be interested to hear whether the hours counter can be found buried somewhere in the webOS menus or if we need to access the service menu.

Yeah but you see with your own eyes...that is pure subjectiveness. Thats why we get the pics and if we see strong banding on them, IF, then its a no go or in other words: you can always buy one and test it yourself ofc thats always an option. But subjective statements like I dont see any banding ever even with the 2015 Oleds well...

Maybe it's time to take a picture of a white wall with these crappy phone cameras and look for banding in the wall. You MUST eliminate camera artifacts as the cause of any defects before drawing conclusions. The proper way to do photography was described a couple days ago.

Maybe we should all watch TV through our iPhone cameras and complain about possible banding that we can't see when watching TV with our own eyes

When I read these comments, I know everyone means well but so far the test patterns look good so now we just need to make sure that there is no visible banding when watching normal content and if not then we are good.

I think everyone just can't believe that LG corrected most of the issues from the older sets

Set installed last Monday. Maybe 25 hours "on" so far. Have not run the " clear panel noise" as yet. I see only clear white with my eyes on the 100% white slide. Will use a real camera soon and post the pics.
No banding with live content and I've been looking for it. Just a gorgeous 1080i up scaled pic- have not installed my Samsung UHD player as yet but will be doing so today. UHD content on Netflix also looks phenomenal.

By the way, the set is plenty bright for those concerned 600 nits is not bright enough. User interface is very fast , excellent, and very intuitive.

Apart from the hours counter:
Ash already confirmed that he had no problem pairing his no name bluetooth headhpones to the TV.
Any new owner with BT headphones from a well known brand that could give it a try (Sony, Sennheiser, Beats etc.)?

Still not good enough....a white wall would not behave the same way on the sensors because that white is not the same as the white coming from the display. The white blasting out from the display is triggering the cones in our eyes to look much the same, but the camera sensor might have the aberrative effects with that version and not the wall which has a completely different spectral breakdown.

Simply provide two pictures. One taken with the camera tilted 90°. Any left-right chromatic hooey will be moved from top to bottom.

Probably.

I also have a 6200. G6 audio does play through the system when switched to "TV Audio". Of the two optical connections in the rear, I have mine connected to the one on the right.

I'm rethinking my chain to try to alleviate some of these handshake problems. In my old system with a Pioneer SC-25 I ran everything through an Oppo 103D to gain advantage of the Darbee function on all content. I ran HDMI carrying video to the set and HDMI carrying audio to the Pioneer. Of course that all worked solely because we weren't having to deal with the additional copyright protection layers imposed with UHD. Currently I run everything to the 6200 and haven't replaced the player yet. I may go back to separating the video and audio feeds again.

I haven't yet come up with an order of doing things to try to cut down on the number of times I get the 2.2 error (it's not that much, but just enough to be really annoying). It always fixes itself if I turn this one off and back on or that one off and back on, but I haven't yet isolated where the handshake breaks down.

Something I found interesting last night watching a rental BluRay of Edge of Tomorrow. I was watching the trailers at the beginning and would lose input connection between the trailers. I would get the banner at the bottom of the screen asking if I wanted to go to the main input screen on the G6. If I did nothing, connection was re-established. It's like the Oppo stopped sending a signal while it was in between doing things.

Just ignore him. He just arrived here a few days ago, and his first post was that he would not pay more that two thousand for one of these sets, and since then all he has done is troll over and over about how much he needs to see more pictures so that he can examine them for banding.

He is desperate to make sure that there will be no banding in the set that he has no intention of purchasing!

Which Audio output setting are you using on the LG G6? I am going to try with a simple pair of headphones and optical to RCA converter I have today to see if the problem is on the G6 side or the 6200 side.

Thanks

If it were up to me, I would have every degree of gray scale checked throughly, on camera, off camera, in person, etc
If there's even the slightest evidence of banding, I personally think it's a failure of a tv and would return it immediately
Who cares about the infinite contrast ratio and the beautiful picture it provides, it's all about the gray scale

I have a 50" Samsung 6970 Plasma and sooner or later I will buy the B6 IF the banding and near black problems are not worth mentioning anymore. And they are regarding the 9000 series.
@5x10: Thats why I'd love to see pics/vids of sports for example football to see if that looks fine. The grey stuff is primarily to compare the new Oleds with the older ones in my opinion. There seems to be an improvement which is already good.

Anyone can nitpick a set to death, but taking pictures or videos isn't going to reveal anything super stunning to someone on the other side, especially if posted directly on the forum. You will be limited by the camera/phone someone is using to take the pic/vid. Then the compression if posted directly to the forum, followed by what kind of screen you are then viewing from. I think viewing anything taken from a cell phone isn't going to give you the greatest of reference...I don't see the refresh rate on a computer monitor, but record a video of it on your phone and you will definitely see it...catch the point?
Best way to catch any of the anomalies people are concerned with is to check out a set in person, or go by the word of current few owners who have reported no visible banding

They will be starting to be shipped by the end of week to those who preordered, or that is when they are being shipped to VE from the distributor?
