Hell, CRT's had burn in!

In normal usage, dont see it happening on OLED, sorry. Ive seen nothing on my two with regards to IR anything like every Panny plasma I owned.

Are you sure? Whatever makes you feel better I guess, first I heard of someone pausing during a movie to play full screen content, even with my plasmas I never did that.

On the manual on the 930/9300 Oled it stated back then that Lg did not recomend static screen for more than 1hour on they Oleds n no screen burn warranty. Been doing this Since then with zero ir on any of my many oleds in the past Since.

In letterbox the bars are off, that is not a static screen.

Dont take much effort to do it n if anyone check with grey slides after 1h of a letterbar movie the oleds show they inprint of the bars already. A few min with full screen content clears it. Easy to avoid ir Even tho the tv clears it of it own.

You forgot to mention that his unit arrived with burn-in and was likely abused as a demo model powered on upwards of 10 hours a day (and possibly never properly shut down and thus never having the comp cycle run), and those absolutely can (and do) get burn-in. Your case of in-home burn-in is truly isolated in 2016 models so far.

I'm not as hardcore as you, but it still makes me minutely nervous when I see evidence of that voltage drift caused by viewing letterbox content. That's an understandable affliction for us first-gen WOLED owners.

Well, the E6 passed the final test the EF9500 had issues with, that is Blindspot on NBC. This one was notorious for blocky minecraft blacks due to compression. The E6 isn't quite late gen Panny plasma clean, but it looks fine IMO especially since I don't have to crush 1% black like I did on the EF9500 to cover much of the issue up.

Yeah - Ive watched numerous anamorphic movies on my E6 and havent even seen any IR, let alone burn in. The last few times Ive checked too since this topic got hot again. I just dont see it. I let the TV run its normal comp cycles but have never done a manually one.

I don't know what they did, but there were about 4600 hours on the set.

The problem was most noticeable when there was a solid red color at the bottom of the screen. The attached photo has an outline of the BI. It is difficult to tell, but to the right side of the photo is a question mark in a circle. This was the User Guide icon in the Home/Recent menu. When there was anything with a reddish tint to it, like skin, it was noticeable. (But maybe that's because I was looking for it all the freakin' time.) With a green background, there was a stylized plant visible along the right edge of the screen, and the Program Guide icon was also visible. Don't have a photo of that, though.

It appears the color pixels that are burned in is not as bright when turned on, creating a "shadow" in that color.

In the case of that poster's G6, he bought a display model from a brick and mortar. Display OLEDs are at a much higher risk for burn in, due to the nature of how they are used, and the fact that many store cut the power bank of the TVs off when it's time to close shop, which would prevent an OLED from doing its comp cycle, ever.
Fair enough, i didn't realise his TV was an ex store model.

4600 hours!! At 8hr/day that's 575 days worth of torture and 192 running 24 hours nonstop. That's the highest I've seen on any store model, The Fry's sets were all around ~3000 last year when the EF and EGs went on clearance, and each one had the '4K OLED' burned into the middle of the panel. Reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy AMOLED screens that had burn-in on their status bars and screens from the demo modes cycling for months. What a waste. You'd think the manufacturers (especially corp reps who visit the B&Ms) would have noticed and done something about it, especially on their flagship model.

I do not think any one said they could not burn in, any thing can happen. I think this is the true case of burn in I have seen. A LED or LCD can not get burn in per-say but they can get a stuck image on the screen that will not go away.

Store demos are sacrificed all the time in order to catch people's attention. If running everything on the set turned up to max attracts just 20 buyers in a year who otherwise would have kept on walking, one set 'sacrificed' is well worth it to the retailer, especially as they can still sell the "store demo" a year later at cost (or even with a small profit).

I have a Best Buy near me with a 55" and a 65" mounted up high and facing the front door so they can be seen when you walk in or from anywhere in the store. The sets are clearly full OLED light, full contrast, high color saturation and run the LG demo endlessly, and people wander over to see what that incredible looking set is all about. A few no doubt go on to buy one.

Yeah, you make a good point. However if the manufacturer/retailer is sacrificing the set as eye-candy then it shouldn't be offered for sale if they're not going to warranty the unit, especially if it's been used outside of whatever 'acceptable' usage guidelines their warranty stipulates. 4600 hours of torch mode before it sees 'day one' of consumer use probably falls into that category, especially considering the track record of what the LG demo video does to them. :/

The famous Chad B just left from calibrating my 77".

It was my first professional calibration and I have to say, the set looks amazing! Chad taught me quite a bit along the way and I only wish I had more time for him to get his hands on my other sets.

He calibrated Day, Night, HDR, HDR Game and 3D for me. DirecTV to Blu Ray looks phenomenal, but what really got me was how great the PS4 Pro playing Uncharted 4 looked. Simply amazing. Picture is definitely punchier.

He was also impressed with the 77" as compared to the 65" G's he has calibrated. He felt the uniformity was better and that the white balance was also better. That was interesting to hear and made me feel like a proud papa. lol.

Envy does not become you. Or me, for that matter. That's the set I really wanted, but the budget wouldn't take it.

Panasonic made a 103" plasma a few years back, model TH103PF10UK. I bet there's still a few of those around somewhere, used at one or two trade shows, then packed away in some storage space.

It was 1080, and stunning.

That was interesting to hear and made me feel like a proud papa. lol.
I guess LG felt obligated to finally use some TLC on these $16-20k behemoths.
