I might have seen a solitary instance of elevated blacks on Dr. Strange (3D), but the cosmic and psychedelic shots with the added depth of 3D and deep blacks made it a thrill to watch, though a little discombobulated and disorienting (may require a second viewing in the not too near future).

Yeah, we watched it last night too. Very impressive 3D. I too felt the image lacked punch sometimes which I'm not used to on this set! Reference 3D but I've seen better saturation and blacks on other 3D movies like Oz, The Great and Powerful or even Jurassic Park 3D.

Still, solid film and it must be seen in 3D!

What I like about VUDU and the digital codes you get with the purchased UHD discs, is that you can watch some of those for free with DV encoding to compare.
Calibration will never hurt that's for sure, I think it would very set to set though, some being more accurate than others.

A comment about 3D glasses:
When 3D first came back a few years ago, theatres were trying to figure out how to handle the glasses. For RealD movies, you were given the option of buying or renting the glasses, I believe. We bought them the first couple movies, so we ended up with about 10 pair. These seem to be compatible with the LG. In fact, they appeared to be physically identical to the ones LG provided last year. (The current ones look slicker.)

We use those and the 3D looks great.

My panel was just replaced for the 3D issue...

Running tests the uniformity is way better and 3D looks good on quick testing.

I am curious though, when running the 3D testing blu ray I downloaded here, it says I shouldn't see ANY imagine on the left and right lens tests, but I can clearly see a dim full image showing through.

I can also see ghosting on the black background white objects test.... But essentially no ghosting on the white background black objects test.

Is this normal for passive on OLED? Or is this panel defective too?

thanks all

Get a serious film like Prometheus. Maybe 3d at its best and really the LG OLED passive 4k 3D approach really shines in this movie. There's only one weird bit that's a slight strain in the holo projection at the beginning during the briefing, and even that is super clear and I think it's more because it's almost too sharp.

Same here. Don't worry. Provided you're perpendicular and central, or maybe even slightly below centre evenness is most important.
On black object on white background you won't see it. But for some reason the rabbit on grey or black shows through. But I think that's either scaling not coping well with side by side/ over under format properly or maybe even bleed through due to the refraction in the glass itself. But true native 3d blu ray should be fine

Here's example where it's bad. Total pass through on one eye. And not even to go with it.

TV Turns off, then on by itself

Hi...I have a 55E6. It is about two weeks old. Twice so far,I have watched it turn itself off and then right back on again...happened tonight...had only been on for about two hours...it was on mute when it did this...others expereince this? What could cause this?...should I be worried. Should I call LG and maybe exchange. Bought it at best buy.

thanks

Anyone know the Ethernet port spec?
Can it handle speeds over 100Mbps?

I have a 150Mbps plan with Fios.
I ran Ethernet cable in the wall to the tv and I am only getting 93Mbps during speed test.
Meanwhile if I disconnect the cable and send the G6 a wifi signal I get the full 150Mbps speed.

I have always assumed an Ethernet connection is better.
(I paid a decent price to run this cable through the wall during a recent renovation)

It maxes out at 100 Mbps via ethernet.

Hopefully these HDMI ports are sturdy. My wife wanted her NES Classic hooked up to the new E6P. So in the struggle to switch cords around, I was moving the tv on the stand and inadvertently pulling on one of the HDMI cords. I heard it stressing and realized what I was doing. I guess the port still looks fine and everything works fine. But I bent the HDMI plug pretty good.

LG OLED E6 Overscan Problem

Ok guys I just run a test pattern from a DVE blu-ray disc and I found out that the panel has a little overscan on the left side only of the screen, Check pictures attached 1st and 2nd missing the vertical line on the left side top/bottom corners. the 3rd and 4th are right side top/bottom cornrs are just fine:

Is this something I have to worry about? Could it be my blu-ray player doing the overscan?
The TV is in just scan mode.

Everything looks fine and works, but my anxiety issues have me worrying I did something that will cause a problem later on. Is it likely to have been an immediate problem with the HDMI if I damaged something? Or could it pop up later?

No. It's about four pixels as I recall and I've seen it on both the EF9500 and E6B. There was a reason but I've forgotten what it was.

Could it be the Screen Shift feature in action, shifting the screen a few pixels in each direction, causing a little overscan?

OP should check to see whether the overscan "moves" to different areas of the screen or if it's always in the same place.

I loaded the test pattern to a USB drive and surprisingly the panel displays the entire pattern, What a relieve, I still have to figure out why my pioneer blu-ray player does overscan few pixels on the left, I've gone thru the menu and couldn't find any setting for it, It does have a hidden menu where you can disable region code and cinavia but that's about it.

It shifts pixels so you are no longer get exact pixel matching; all bets are off.
