Ah. Well someday I might want to use some media storage device. If ever I can build a true home theater, then for sure. One of my goals in life.

Sorry to be redundant, but am I correct in assuming that it is normal for vertical letter-boxing to appear using LG's OLED 2D to 3D conversion using manual settings 20 depth -5 viewpoint (with the same width as in your Boss Baby picture)?
Auto 3D conversion is very different from native 3D.. LG's OLED "Native 3D mode settings" become available to effect native 3D signal sources of 3D MVC encoded media. LG OLED 2D to 3D conversion mode settings are consumer activated, using proprietary 3D firmware algorithms.

So when I talked to LG about the green line across my screen, the call ended with the CST saying there were no qualified repair centers in my area and that they'd have to call me back in 3-5 days to discuss resolution. It's been 7 business days with no callback.

Today Fedex Freight just called me to arrange a delivery window. I initially told them its a mistake because I haven't ordered any freight. But they said it's a package from LG, so I made an appointment with them for delivery.

Now I'm wondering what's going on. Is LG staging a large replacement part at my house for the repairman? Did they just send me a whole new TV?

Due to the lack of knowledge and communication, I'm having a weird mixture of worry and excitement.

If they have no service centers near you, my guess it's a replacement tv. Unfortunately, it could be a 2017 model without 3D.

My guess, it's probably a replacement screen. You will likely be getting a call from them or a technician to arrange an appointment to install it. If that's the case make sure the 3D is good on it right away, while the tech is still there.

Especially with the long delay in the call back. It stinks how 3D was taken away except for the Sony Z9D series TV's. I guess we will see what happens with no glasses required 3D.

Yes I solved it but didn’t fix it. Apparently the hdmi I used SlimRun AV HDR High Speed Cable for HDMI-Enabled Devices - 4K @ 60Hz, HDR, 18Gbps, Fiber Optic, AOC, YUV 4:4:4, CMP, 30ft, Doesn’t pass ARC signals. Unfortunately it’s in the wall and I couldn’t run conduit because existing construction so I’m running an small diameter fiber optic cable along the base board. So for anyone thinking to use that cable just be aware it doesn’t pass ARC!

Thanks for the update!
My cables pass ARC - but every once in a while the LG stops passing audio to my Marantz. If I power everything down and reboot, it's fine. Probably still an HDMI issue - and I suppose if I try different cables I could find one that plays better with ARC. It's only happened a few times over the months I've had the LG

Trust me, it won't matter, that's the way ARC is, it'll work for a long time then just stop for no obvious reason, and then start, once again for no obvious reason, it's not the cables.

Hey all,

Quick question. I know since the changes, for HDR gaming, Dynamic Contrast should be HIGH (which seems to look fine to me).

What do you all use for HDR Standard when watching movies, though? Should Dynamic Contrast still be off?

Thanks!

I have had my 77 G6P for about 5 months now. Im still loving it. The black level is superb. The colors, brightness are much better than my Zt60. Also, with trumotion set to DJ0DB0, I would say motion is as good or even better than plasma. This whole thing about motion resolution superior on plasma is hogwash, and Im a plasma fan. I think finding a 77G6p is hard these days..

You can check the usage in hours by going to: Settings -> General -> About this TV -> Total Power On Time

In 16 months, 2222 hours. That averages out to about 4.5 hours a day, which seems to be more than I use it, but maybe not.

65E6 owner here, using whatever the latest update available for download is (X.5.30, I think).

Unless there's some real showstopper problem that is fixed by an update that's only available on a non-U.S. site (and that hasn't happened yet), I tend to avoid the sometimes slightly newer non-U.S. updates.

What I don't understand is with all that satisfaction, you're trying to sell it.

All OLEDs give you perfect blacks (it's the area just above black that can hold imperfections).

And motion resolution is measurable. It is simply how sample and hold operates without black frame insertion or motion interpolation. Some just aren't perceptible to it (and I count myself among those, especially without a reference to compare).

You bet the TV is difficult to find. They didn't manufacture that many and is why I bought early (but unfortunately paid the price). I'm not 100% satisfied (uniformity), but for 3D, there's no better flat panel, so I suck it up.

I’m also on the latest and greatest firmware. I’m thinking we won’t get anymore updates but I could be wrong. Not sure what happened with the raised blacks for Dolby Vision update....? Other than that, everything is running smoothly. My disc player doesn’t do Dolby Vision so that issue isn’t a biggy for me anyways. HDR is fine.

2017 models getting the priority methinks (and that's only been released in 1 territory). I also think it's premature to say firmwares are done. My 5-year-old EA9800 received an update this year!

Your guess is correct. Today a replacement screen showed up from FedEx. Part number is CRD32414601 "OLED, Module - AM, Refurbished Display Parts".

I haven't been called back yet. Not sure what to expect.

Not sure I would like to see "Refurbished Display Parts". Hopefully it's not a panel from a returned tv that had issues.

Shipping a non-3d unit without customer consent would be dumb. The replacement must meet the performance specs of the original to a reasonable degree. If my 3d went out and no parts available or 3d replacement, LG would be buying it back from me.

Anyway, looks like he got a refurb panel.
