Any ideas as to the possible root cause for this? I want to be prepared in case it happens again.
If he has quick start enabled in the menu, turn it off. That way when the tv turns off, it will close out processes that may be running in the background. Over a period of time, open processes can overload the ram and cause issues. The cold reboot cleared all open processes and probably the reason why it's working fine now.

I am probably upgrading some time soon to a 77" just not sure if in 2019 or 2020. Not even sure If I am going to get a Sony master Drive OLED or LCD. I know one thing is I need yo start looking if I plan on making a move. I went to look at what a 85" would look like this morning and 85" is big.
I think its better then the theater. Chad calibrated mine as well and I have a huge library of 3d BRs.

Given the scarcity of 3D Oleds...hope for finding a 77" in good working condition...but perhaps also consider all 3 models...C, E, and G in 65". The Sony 75Z9D is active I believe...

Ebay will likely fetch more if you are willing to ship, but you can advertise local pick up only. Craigslist is another source. There is also a for sale area here on AVS. Those 3 will give you some idea of what the going rate is...

Keep in mind BI or a poorly aligned 3D filter trashes the value. There are several on Ebay informing of BI issues...generally asking about 1/2 of those that are clean. But they do not seem to be selling. Still have value for parts...the boards for example.

Road trip from Sacramento to Oakland doesn't seem too bad for this price. Or even a road trip across the country!

I'm still debating if it's worth dropping a bunch of money to upgrade my 4k player to one that does Dolby vision. I read that some people get a green push in Dolby vision so they just use hdr10 anyways. Thoughts?

Thanks! Dropped a message in that thread, hopefully I'll hear back.

This would replace a PN64D8000. I've long been okay with active, but understand it's not quite the same.

It depends on where you live. Where I live, I would be lucky to get $1000 for my 65E6, with probably no offers at all. When I sold my 64F8500 plasma, the most I was offered locally was $300. I place it in this forum's marketplace and got $1200.

If you have a super clean E6, put that thing on eBay. I had mine listed there but couldn't ship because of no box. I got some pretty ridiculous (good) offers if I was willing to ship. I ended up selling locally to a guy just a few miles away.

I found the opening (menu) screen on the movie Tangled to be a quick N easy way to spot FPR errors (at least in the middle-ish upper area of the screen)...when the floating lanterns come out of the castle. Should all look like single lanterns. If it passes that quick test, run the rest of the movie to looking around for cross talk in the lower screen areas. Most 3D fans have that movie...or should. It's not an expensive one these days. And anyways, it's the best 3D movie ever made. Colorful and full screen. The "mother knows best" song in the tower really highlights just how awesome Oled blacks are with the spotlighting (sunlight) contrast. My opinion

For some it might be easier. But often people don't know how to download to thumb drive or find it a hassle. And when shopping for a used model locally, some sellers might not like a buyer hooking up a USB drive to their tv...or want to argue about bad results. Few I think, would mind simply running a disc/movie, or question bad results..

Can you upload that test to Youtube? https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...=3d+test+image

Thanks! I will play it Monday on my LG 65UF8500 (2015 led/lcd) when I return home. Not able to use my C6 right now...sort of mothballed at the moment. Wish I could run it on a tv known to have a mis-aligned filter to see how well the flaw (s) would show up.

Hey guys for my apple tv 4K I use 4k SDR and match dynamic range on and match frame rate on.. what should I set colorspace should it be 4:2:0 or 4:4:4.. i thought most movies are 4:2:0 and setting 4:4:4 won't make any difference?

Thanks!

Got my 3D Bug Buzzing again,

Since I discovered a new phone over the holidays, it can record 4K video that can be converted to play in "SBS mode" on my TV.

I believe the MFG's goal is to project 4D Hologram images and video on this device to other owners of it and more....So I'm guessing it's a work in progress and not a standard yet

But for now the top statement is all I'm interested in..

Check out my 23sec self-shot video.

Has anyone heard any news on when LG is going to release the latest firmware update for the North American models of the E6? Presumably, Version 05.30.50 as is currently available from the Korean website. I suppose I could try using the Korean version as apparently some people have done, but I am pretty reluctant to do so in case I brick my TV (e.g. Korean language instead of English).

^ Only line "U" is new for this firmware. The rest were in prior updates. Of course they don't bother to list *ALL* the changes they've made each time. So it remains, umm, pot luck installing firmware. I don't think we've heard any new screaming related to this latest Korean release firmware.

A lot gets lost in the translation from Korean to English and it is hard to tell if all these changes are in 05.30.50 (unlikely) or just the last two based on the (05.30.50) shown after the these items (most likely). The change history for the Korean model is quite different than the changelog for the north american models. As an example, the one item above refers to a change number (04.90.01), but there is no change with this number for the NA models. The NA models had a change 05.30.25, but there is no corresponding change for the Korean models. The three changes for 05.30.20 do seem to match, but the wording is somewhat different.

Generally the last bullet relates to the current FW. All the other changes are cumulative.

Hi Bob,

You always have a well rounded comment when you happen to pop in. Just wondering if you noticed my mentioning your name back in "post #21649 of 21693 regarding the debate me and Ken were having about an issue I've sought information about, in a few AVS thread discussions already.

My apologies for bringing up old 2016 news, But I thought you might have some experience or opinion on that subject.
