Anyone know where the infrared sensor on this TV is? I have the B6P and am now having the issue that I have to take my programmable remote and walk up to get near the TV to be able to turn on and off the TV. The manual just says to point the remote at the sensor, but no where in the manual does it say where the sensor is. I assume it's low on the TV, but don't know. I'd like to clean the area, but don't know where the area is.

Yes, 3D on the 2016 model is reference quality and if the format would have had these sets around when it debuted I suspect 3D may have fared better overall.

Maybe better but doubt it would have survived regardless. People stopped going to watch 3d at the cinema as well. To be honest, I think the glasses are a barrier

Yeah, probably right. The passive glasses were much more comfortable, IMO. Either way, here we are. Its almost over. But, I can and do still buy 3D blu-rays here and there when the title interests me.

I keep thinking that too. But there always seems to be another one coming out. Just pre-ordered Maleficent 2 3D and Lion King for example. And got Aladdin 3D the other day. Mostly Disney keeping 3D alive I guess. And the big hope...or what was once upon a time the big hope, Avatar 2 coming out in a few years...

My most recent acquisition was Secret Life of Pets 2, an immersive bomb! They're also still restoring old titles as I'm sure you've noticed. I'll be getting the critically cringey Parasite (1984) in the mail tomorrow, with another ~10 new titles on order/en route (I.E. Toy Story 4).

Looks like we will soon lose our ability to watch Dolby Vision on Netflix in the future. Netflix is going to abandon streaming at 24hz, and just stream at 60hz. For us 2016 owners, that will be the end of DV via Netflix, as our tv's won't be able to play DV at 60hz. Netflix is pulling that ability from the NVIDIA Shield, and already doesn't work on the Amazon Fire or X Box. Apple TV won't be far behind. Our internal app will cease being able to stream DV via Netflix. I have a feeling that eventually no DV content will stream at 24hz on any platform or app, making DV on our tv's meaningless, except on disc. It will be interesting with the ATV4K as one can force everything to 24hz, and the Netflix app in the future streams DV at 60hz, if the ATV will be able to convert it back to 24hz for us to view. Of course the judder would be pretty bad with lots of skipped frames.

Thanks for the PSA! If I still had Netflix, I might be more concerned. If I ever choose to give the demons my money again, perhaps I'll pair it with an ATV.

I'm worried that other will follow suit. This happened with the new DV profile on the X Box. Only 60hz, so no DV on our tv's through that device. I could see in the not too distant future that the only way we will be able to watch DV on our tv's is via disc.

Its for me a 3D tv it what it does best, Hdr 10 and DV the E6 isnt close to the W8.

Diffrences is the W8 is much more sharper looking and the HDR highlights has much more details..
I tryed for fun the Panasonic UB9000 on the E6 with more modern tone mapping. It helps but its still the whited out hdr higlights one dont get on a in my case 2018 oled.

Still a step up on a 2016 oled a hdr optimizer Panasonic UHD player on 4000 nits movies.

I'm sure you'll keep us posted, as long as you still have your E6. How often do you upgrade TVs typically?

Not too often. Where I live, it's hard to get any decent money for a used tv. Next tv I get will be a 77 inch.

Had oleds since 2013 upgraded yearly to 2016 with a G6 65" its still my favoritt Oled year.
After 2016 the tv interst faded slight but had a Sony A1 in 2017 that started to fail early this year.
The W8 was week deal that i couldt pass on.
The E6 was owned of a collega at work so when he told me he was selling i had to buy it to get 2016 Oled 3D once again and i dont retrett that one second.

My Lg G6 that still like that design better than the E6 was yellow tinted on left side but the rest of the panel was almost band free. Had one faded on the left side that was close to impossible to se.

But i sold it n i never been more sacred to repack a tv as like you know well a G6 is not a feather light tv.
Laying it down to unscrew the 3/4? Umbraco screws on its base to fold up the sound base was easy. But then to lift it up from a layed down to up right position .the Screen bends so much of it own weight it was a dont crack dont crack moment.

haha, yes, the thinness means you have to treat it with kid gloves. I know very well with my two G6s here. The 65" is almost band-free as yours, 77" is not as refined and thus more irritating to watch with certain scenes. I see you started OLED collecting at the onset of OLED TV (I came in just behind you in 2014 with the 55EA9800, when the price became more tolerable). I still have all 3...If I upgrade again, I'll need to dump one (at rock bottom price since secondhand value in TV land plummets).

That's insane! Why would they stream 24hz content in 60hz? Where did you get that info?

I wanted to ask if the new Shield can play Netflix DV (+ Atmos) content in 24hz so it will work on my E6, but I guess that's not relevant anymore.

The discussion was over on the new Shield thread. The discussion is about devices that allow for frame rate matching, and Netflix no longer signing on to allow frame rate matching with their app on those devices. I guess Netflix and device makers are getting complaints from users that the match frame rate causes temporary stutters and screen flashes. Roku has already removed the match frame rate from their devices. Everything is 60hz. Not a big deal yet, because they arent DV capable. The Shield has a beta fw that allows one to manually swap to 24 hz, but requires on to start an app, then hit a button on the remote to switch to Match frame rate. So right now one can still do that with the Shield with DV content on Netflix. How long that beta will be available is anyones guess. It could easily be removed with new FW. Netflix wont sign off to allow 24hz streaming on the new Fire stick, so its all 60hz via Netflix on that device.

Wondering if an HDFury would handle it.
