I had a "trained" Magnolia employee argue with me how their $150 3ft HDMI cables increase picture quality noticeably because he and a buddy spent a night swapping cables one night comparing them. I tried explaining that HDMI is digital 0's and 1's and either the 0/1's are transmitted or they are not...there is no way to make a 0/1 "better". He wouldn't bother trying to understand what I was saying because "He was the expert, not me". I've learned over the years to just tell them "I'm only looking, thanks for offering help though". On the occasion that one of them starts to run through his bullet point list despite my not asking, I just nod my head. My fiancee says I am being rude but it's easier to just nod my head than trying to correct their inaccuracies. Hence why I go to my local A/V store whenever possible as their staff ALWAYS try to stay up with what is true and current (they always send a staff member to CEDIA and CES each year).

When I go to best buy I know what I want already and ask for it. If someone tries to shift me to something else, I politely say I'm not interested. The mistake people make is talking to a salesman when out 'window shopping'. Don't talk to them then. Research, look, decide, then use them to buy, period. When the conversation comes up on 4k hdmi cables, tell them you know monoprice.com.

I'm still using $2 HDMI cables I bought from Monoprice 4 years ago. They haven't given me any trouble on 4k content.

I have a question regarding HDMI ARC.
I'm getting ready to replace my aging Yamaha receiver that is so old it can't handle the optical audio format output from my new B6 - let alone support ARC.

I read an introduction to ARC on Cnet
https://www.cnet.com/news/what-is-au...n-channel-arc/

They mention that some TV's don't always pass through 5.1 from all sources (blu-ray, cable, HTPC, etc) down through the ARC channel. The article is 2 years old, so I'm hoping that this type of issues have been ironed out by now.

Can anyone confirm the performance level of ARC on their B6?

I'm 99% certain that DV does not require any special receiver beyond just HDMI 2.0a compatibility. The format basically hides inside a regular HDMI signal and could even be transmitted by HDMI 1.4. You only need support in devices decoding compressed DV metadata and those displaying it.

Tell that to LG, the morons who decided NOT to pass ATMOS through ARC

Also it looks like I will need to buy a new AV Receiver anyway as it's not fully 4k, I had it set up for a few 1080p devices plugged in the AVR, then the 4k devices into the TV, but then they don't get 5.1 sound, only the TV apps e.g. Plex, are giving 5.1 over ARC, but not the other HDMIs... Are we supposed to be able to get 5.1 over all hdmis? e.g. Cable box to TV HDMI then it carries the sound to AVR HDMI ARC which should be 5.1?... But I'm just getting Stereo.
I am struggling with this also. I click on HDMI2 on my C6; my Onkyo receiver turns on, as does my PS3, and the first input of the receiver (the PS3) is selected. I'm trying to find out whether there's a way to have the Onkyo (TX-NR5008) start on a different input, but it's not obvious.

The ARC return, which shows up on the TV/CD input of the Onyo, is definitely only stereo.

I'm finally gonna get to see one of these things outside of a BB showroom soon. Somebody I know from my old job was looking for a new TV and I pointed them towards OLED a while ago. They said they really liked it but I haven't heard anything much since until today, I talked to him and I guess he is officially getting a B6 this weekend. Forgot to ask if he got the 55 or 65 but I would imagine probably the 55 because he already didn't really want to spend 2K on a TV but he can definitely do it without hurting, and once he saw the picture quality he loved it.

My C6 is on its way via FedEx Freight, will be taking delivery Friday. While I have never used a "3rd party" Amazon seller for a TV, the price was too good to not take a gamble. Just crossing my fingers uniformity is excellent!

Just got mine a week ago Friday... also 3rd party Amazon, which I have never done before. I actually purchased the 2015 model for $2500, but they were out. So they sent me the C6 (2016 model) for same price. I was a bit apprehensive but was pleasantly surprised to end up with a brand new C6 that looks totally awesome. Enjoy!

There is no deciding to be done, my next set is going to be an OLED. It's just a question of when. I had it all planned perfectly for next March until I lost my job, now I may have to delay that till May or June. I do kind of want to see what next years OLED's bring and what prices will be, so maybe it's a good thing I wait a little longer on getting a B6 or not. But there really is nothing else for me. If Sony made a real 65 inch of the x940C (screw the x930C) that is probably the only thing I would even consider getting over an OLED depending on what the price was. That doesn't exist forget it.

I think I purchased from the same seller as you then, as I made sure to read their Amazon reviews and there were a lot of people who had purchased 2015 models throughout September and instead received the new 2016 models for no additional charge

Yea, I'm sure it's got to be the same seller. Needless to say I gave this seller 5 stars and a great review.

I wonder if that is an authorized dealer? That just sounds too good to be true! They are either making next to nothing on each sale. Or, they are from a stolen lot.

Those thoughts also went through my mind Fortunately I was very happy to see that my warranty info was valid and accepted by LG with no problem.

Yea. From everything I found through searching the consensus is LG will honor the 1 year even from "unauthorized sellers".

Regardless, I used my credit card just in case for the extra protection. And having been a seller on Amazon for many years I know as a buyer I am 100% protected for the 30 day return window.

I also seen some C6s on Amazon that are supposedly open box, but brand new for really low prices. I can't decide wether to take the leap or wait until Black Friday. Are you guys gonna be able to purchase extended warranties? Also, do you think LG will honor the original warranty despite not being from an authoized seller?

I have a 2016 Vizio P-Series which looks great, but I feel like I'm missing out on that optimal PQ by not having an OLED.

Edit: Okay, seen that LG will honor the warranty which is cool. You guys mind sharing who the seller is? PM me

Regarding extended warranty I don't know but I have never ever purchased an extended warranty on any electronic. I'm of the ilk that if something catastrophic is going to happen it will be the first year otherwise by the time an extended issue begins to show (like light engine drift on old SXRD TV's or lines appearing on older Panny plasmas) I'll be upgrading anyways.
