Thats it. If you don't have a Dolby vision TV those shows send hdr10 instead.

I'm sold on Dolby Vision, not yet sold on HDR10 (the possible exception being on Amazon)...
In your case your hdr10 comparisons are to the Chromecast which has issues. Hdr10 from the Chromecast looks nothing like hdr10 from the shield.
And hdr10 from the shield looks fairly close to Dolby vision.

The only picture more on the TV to use, according to all the professional reviews, is calibrated dark mode. You start your own calibrations from that.
When watching hdr10 content use hdr standard mode to base your calibrations off of.

If I exit Amazon and get back in it resets to the default HDR Standard User settings. This doesn't seem normal. Is this a bug with the Amazon app, or am I missing something? It seems to be saving all the settings for watching cable. I updated the firmware to the latest as well.
It is a bug, hopefully it gets fixed.

I believe this to be the case also. This tv is amazing! My only gripe is the oob white balance settings are horrendous! I feel like warm 2 tracks the best (to my eye) but you have to change the 2 point quite a bit. I need to get some cal equipment although all colors are looking pretty good right now.

I just ordered an I1d3 meter already have the required software. Just based on the grayscale ramps I think my set is pretty close. No discoloration visible.

Is this with not tweaking the set at all for 2 or 20 point? If I set mine to warm 2 all factory I get whites that are yellow.

While I've only had the set a few days, this TV is on A LOT (I'd say at least 16 hours a day, sometimes more). I have been going out of my way to make sure to power it off as much as possible (I used to just leave my old TV on even if I was going to be away from it for a while). For example, if I went upstairs into my home office for an hour or two, I would just leave the TV on. Bad habit, I guess But with this set, I'm making a point to turn it off if I'm going to be away from it for more than 15 minutes, so that it runs it's "compensation" cycles.

But like I said, I swear that the picture quality has gotten better on this thing after some usage (and compensation cycles). Am I just imagining this or is that actually possible?

I think a number of folks have reported improvement in PQ after usage and in some cases perhaps not realizing that's the main reason for it. At the start anyway usage may be just as important if not more so than running compensation cycles. It has been a while reading about someone running slides for 100 plus hours but they have reported significant improvement with 5% slides.

Call me crazy, but I still have yet to view a single calibration-related screen. I don't notice ANY issues with real content, so I'm not going to go look for things like vignetting, stuck/deal pixels or uniformity issues. I figure that if I can't see them with real content, then I don't really care if I see them on calibration screens or not, since I don't watch calibration screens. :-)

I used to always view those screens but all it does is annoy me that my set isn't "perfect", so I figured why bother if I can't see any issues with real content.

Yes no changes , I think you are used to a bluer white it appears more white but it is not accurate. That is a common observation from folks that are not used to an accurate 6500k white. White balance can not be adjusted without a meter.

So I am almost a part of the club! I ordered my 55b6 from BB and will be here on Friday. Question, my TV is in the living room/kitchen open area so i can't do a full HT setup. I am stuck with just finding a good soundbar. What are folks recommendations for a good one to pair with this TV. Right now I have the yamaha yas-203. Is that just as good as any?

I am very very interested to hear your thoughts as i am in the same position. I have a 50" Panny plasma that still looks great but i am going to go OLED at some point most likely next year. I'd go out and grab a B6 today at that price but quite frankly, i feel i can wait a year as more content comes out in 4k, HDR, DV etc. Plus, with the move to slim bezel, i can go up to 55" for the same real estate.

Thanks in advance Justinto

I think it's a combination of things. I feel like every set is different. Every environment especially daytime is different. I'm probably used to LCD even though I always ran the warmest color temperature. Also I feel like until it breaks in things do seem to change a little. I definitely need a meter and some programs for this bad boy. Can you PM me the stuff you recommend? Thanks a lot in advance!

I just picked up a C6 yesterday and I'm wondering if there are some suggested settings posted here in the forum for normal viewing and HDR viewing. I'm using the out of the box settings and would like to tweak some settings temporarily until my unit is broken in and I can have it calibrated. Any links or specific forum with these settings? Thanks!

Congrats on a great set! As for settings there is a wide range. I think most settle on brightness of 50 to 53 and gamma 2.2 for day bt.1886 for night.

If you are crazy, so am I. The only thing I've done is try different picture modes and settle on the "expert dark" setting that lots of people have recommended. I can't see anything wrong with my picture and see no reason to go looking for something wrong :-).

Yes...it depends on what set you purchased and how much you paid. Return window, 30-45 days for refund.

I replaced the living room 58" Panny with the 65" B6 and the bedroom 50" Panny was replaced with the 55" B6. As far as sizes, they were almost identical due to the slim bezel. You can wait for another year and I understand due to the lack of UHD content and for sure, prices will decrease. Picture quality is better than the plasmas because the OLEDs are brighter with greater contrast - blacks are blacks and whites are whites. The B6 does a good job at upscaling 1080i and 1080p.

Good luck.

I'm in the same boat with a 65" C6, purchased almost 2 weeks ago and now its $200 cheaper. Its my understanding you can do 1 price adjustment during your return period and the adjustment only works for BB price (will not price match after initial purchase).

Since you can only do it once I'm curious if you guys think it will go down more over the holidays? I'm guessing not not since it dropped from $4500->$4000>3000>$2800 over the course of its life. What do you guys think, possible it will go down to $2500 or so before years end or do you think $2800 will be the lowest? Not sure how TV pricing trends during the end of the year. Would hate to do my adjustment just to have it get even cheaper the next day On the flip side since it is a "sale" price I would hate to wait for it to go down more just to go back up. I feel like im in Vegas lol.

I'm glad I bought my 55C6P from Crutchfield with their 60 day mbg/return window. Got it back at the beginning of October when the price dropped down to $2299. A few weeks ago when it dropped to $1999 I called and got the $300 difference credited back. Today it dropped to $1799 and I was able to get the additional $200 taken off as well.

I paid 1499 for my B6 two weeks ago. I hope it falls to 1200 in the next two weeks so I can get a refund

From the BB website:

We won't be beat on price.
We'll match the product prices of key online and local competitors.
Special Considerations:
At the time of sale, we price match all local retail competitors (including their online prices) and we price match products shipped from and sold by these major online retailers: Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, Crutchfield.com, Dell.com, HP.com, Newegg.com, and TigerDirect.com.
We match BestBuy.com prices on in-store purchases and in-store prices on BestBuy.com purchases.
If we lower our in-store or online price during the return and exchange period, we will match our lower price, upon request.
Our Price Match Guarantee covers new items. One price match per identical item, per customer, at the current pre-tax price available to all customers is allowed.

As long as you are in the 'return and exchange period' you should be golden.

"When all else fails, read the manual."

I don't see an INFO button on the B6's magic remote. But my Harmony 650 has an INFO button for the TV and pressing it during Netflix displays the quality of the stream. Just a FYI.
