Yes, the OLED have alot of miles, but, the pQ looks amazing and getting each for 1k is a pretty good deal. I think when these were first released they were $2999.99, so my thinking was 3 for the price of 1.

Still on the fence about this 2nd one though.. Maybe I will just keep 2 of them and give back the repaired/refurbished one.. Thoughts?

Thanks!
Unless there is burn in on any of them, I'd keep them if you can use them all. I wouldn't keep any to "store" for the future though. Something better always comes out.

The Main Board was most likely replaced on that set. My Main Board was replaced on mine and that reset the entire TV, including the hours. Whoever replaced the Main Board clearly didn't take the time to bother setting up the TV with the correct serial number again.

Edit: Never mind, you already discovered that

Both OLEDs firmwares shows 4.30.95

So, is it possible that this 2nd oled was repaired? (there is no option to edit the model number or serial number, and it is very strange that the model does not say OLEDC6P-U and that the serial nu,ber is completely different from the sticker on the back? anyone else have something different showing on model # and serial #?

think I should return this one since it seems strange? PQ is amazing on both btw.. (no burn in, no issues at all)

Thanks!

Contact LG and ask them. Most probably second one was repaired. Not being able to update the FW is not good but not sure if it's a deal breaker.

Do you have full manufacturer warranty and would you be able to buy a costco ST?

Thanks! I used to have a 65VT30 too!! It was repaired three times, so geek squad warranty gave a "comparable replacement" for no charge! I got my VT30 in 2011 and it died in 2014 (repaired 3 times, then wouldnt turn on). Geek squad replaced with a panasonic 65wt600 4k tv which died in 2015 (repaired 3 times, and still would not connect to internet even with hard-wired). Geek squad replaced that panasonic with the Samsung 65JS9500 I have now in the living room.

I really like it (JS9500), but, if this one "dies" or has 3 repairs, I am definitely getting an OLED for the living room. The JS9500 has had 2 panel replacements already. Its almost like I am waiting for it to break down again..

Its only my wife and I that watch tv/movies/sports, so, we don't necessarily "need" 2 more OLEDs upstairs.. I just thought it would be a good time to upgrade the older plasmas upstairs to OLED. (the upstairs living room used to have a 2006 Samsung 720P plasma that I paid $3149.99 for back in 2006, and the game room upstairs used to have a 2010 Panasonic 1080P plasma that I paid $999 for back in 2010). BOth were rarely used/watched, but I always like upgrading. It is a never-ending and expensive hobby, that is why I usually wait for prices to drop and look for deals on "last years model"... Also, I am selling the plasmas for $200 each... they work perfectly, but, OLED is the best picture I have ever seen.

Spoiler!

Man you've had some terrible luck with replacing parts on all of your previous TV's?! For sure I would be waiting for the new ones to break too. LOL! Yeah I still keep my old VT30 just to have a Plasma hanging around. I loved Plasmas until these OLED's came out. No comparison now as my B6 is truly an upgrade from my ZT60 & VT30. I hope your new OLED's stay perfect for you!

For the B6 LG's website still says the current firmware is 04.31.20. Hopefully we'll be getting our HLG update soon too.

Yeah, I am worried we wont be getting any more updates for the B6 now, the focus seems to be on the newer models

Again, it's all preferences.
Relax, I was only joking.

I am not really "storing" them, just figured it is time to upgrade the old plasmas.

I am now looking side by side at the 2006 Samsung 720P 50 inch plasma (thick as heck and has a slight "buzz" to it..) right next to the new 2016 LG C6 55 inch OLED. It is AMAZING how much advances in 10 years. Also, the 50 inch plasma is BIGGER than the 55 inch OLED.. Willl have to get new wall mount..

Spoiler!

FW is not "automatically" updating on any of my oLEDS. when I called this morning and told them I had the 4.30.15 on all three, they said a "new" firmware update was released just yesterday! BUT, it takes up to a week to "automatically update".

All three OLEDs have the 5 year Geek Squad warranty covering until July 2022....

So i assumed that it was contrasting with the other one and that you were able to update the frmware on that one ...

If you have the warranty then IMO i see no problem in keeping them.

Well, if that person knows what they're talking about, then we at least know the E/C6 models will be updating soon. I don't game so I don't use HDR game mode (that people mention looks darker) so that part is of no issue to me. The HLG is a plus for future use I guess. Somebody also mentioned that after updating to the latest Korea's FW version that they saw improved detail in near dark areas which is a plus.

Cool. Thanks for the advice. I guess my fear is returning it, and regretting it... I know new technology keeps coming out, and every year better options are available, and usually for cheaper (but sometimes you lose a feature like 3D).

I went on a trek to buy all the open boxes close-by my house (DFW area) since they (Best Buy) would generally price-match a local store for the same SKU, but, not always... (I learned open box price was $1499-$1699, but, to price match to $1009.99 resulted in a few "no way"...) The open box prices are always at the discretion of the store manager (some stores will sell open box for $1499-$1699, some stores only carry new in box for $1999, some stores will sell for $1299 today if it is missing accessories like: stand, remote, glasses, composite cable adapter, component cable adapter, 2 pairs of 3D glasses - basically the entire hardware pack that comes with NEW IN BOX)

I know some people have "buyers remorse", I am afraid I will have the opposite if I return. Obviously, I can't watch 3 oleds at the same time, so hour count will remain super low for upstairs tvs... I guess I am just debating if I should keep all 3 because of the good deal (at the same time, there will be good deals in summer of 2018, summer of 2019, etc...)

For me, I like watching the best PQ available. If I am downstairs we usually watch the living room tv. If we have company over, we usually migrate to the upstairs (media room, pool table, etc..), so that is why I was upgrading the older plasmas...

Anyway, I will make a decision sooner or later. I am hoping the 2016 models will get the Atmos via ARC update. (I read it is only for 2017 tvs as for now, but that might change?)

Thanks again for all the help!

Joining The Club??

Hi,

Well, I just bought an "open box" 55C6P at Best Buy that they said had been there "about a week" and was a return from a customer. It is to be my first OLED so I'm pretty excited.

But...

It has 8584 hours on it!

And a yellowish "smear" band down the center that is several inches wide. (see pic below)

Other than that, it looks great! :-)

Is this something I can fix or LG might replace the panel on or am I out of luck?

I of course have 14 days to return it. I went with the C6 because of 3D (which I love) and price.

Thanks,

Oh yes. Saw it right away on my cable box feed.

Color fields are even worse. It's burned pretty bad. Definitely a 24/7 store demo. Damn blue shirt liars.

I called LG customer support who, by the way , answered promptly and were very nice, and he is having me run the Clear Panel utility.

How much burn can't that normally handle?

If it's still there, I'm to call back and they'll see what they can do.

At the very least those BB idiots need to give me a couple hindered more off if I decide to keep it.

Just display a solid red screen on it, I think we will laugh.

Return that ****. 8k hours is unacceptable.

Is it only me or has the firmware section been pulled from the C6 US support page? http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-OLED65C6P

They are likely in the middle of uploading the update, or updating the page to include the link for the newest firmware.

Dang, it is gone. I check both the "software & drivers" support page and my models "Download and manuals" section. And they were both there just 30 to 45 minutes ago.

Sony XBR-55A9F OLED
Samsung SMT-H3272 HDC DVR Cable Box / Panasonic DP-UB820 4K BD Player
Roku Premium+ 4k / AppleTV 4K 4th Gen
Denon AVR-X4500H AV Receiver / Klipsch 5.1.2 Speakers

Return that ****. 8k hours is unacceptable.
Even if LG will replace the panel? I will definitely return it if they won't.

Remember, these are getting very scarce now. And 3D is important to me.

LG OLED55C6P, Panasonic UB-820, Sony UBP-X800, Zidoo X9S, Denon AVR-X3400H, vintage Carver M1.0T amp, Axiom M60v3 Mains & VP100 Center, Original SVS 20-39pci Cylinder sub, Phase Tech Surrounds & 2 Polk RC60i Atmos. Have you tried a full red screen.

You can go the LG way if they accept.

Thanks,

Check out a red screen. I bought a 65B6 "store demo" with 2000+ hours on it and it was totally burned. Could plainly see on normal content as well. Promptly returned...
