Thanks.

Do we know if this affects ANY other settings besides OLED Light? I thought I remembered some talk a few months back about it skewing some other settings as well.

So, it's not a big deal unless you are a hardcore gamer?

Just received my set and installed. Love it already (with settings from the box), HDR is much better compare to Samsung F9000 (Tested on Samsung UHD player with Planet Earth II)

I was wondering if someone can point me to right thread page where optimal calibrated setting posted, please. I know that ideal would be to have it calibrated to environment, but in Ireland there are only few people who can calibrate and its very expansive, so for now I'll be happy with someone's settings

Here's my B6 on latest firmware. Comparing HDR Standard with HDR Game. This is the dim HDR Game mode that C6 owners were recently given with latest firmware.

Have you set your iso, exposure time and aperture to the same level?

I took these on an iPhone 7 Plus so I just did the lock for Auto Exposure and Auto Focus. After I took the photos though they were pretty accurate with what I was seeing in person.

I share the same experience. At least on the B6 I don't think it's too dim. I feel like I even see better details in bright areas compared to HDR Standard.

Nope. We're still at 04.31.20, which came out several weeks ago. No HLG for the B6 yet...

Did any of you get to experience 4.30.77 which was the first firmware with HDR Game Mode for the B6? It was noticeably brighter than what we have today with 4.31.20. The reason bright areas might seem "better" is that other areas of the picture are darker than they should be.

Unfortunately I didn't. When I purchased my B6 this year it was already pass that firmware. So I don't know how the unaffected HDR Game mode ever looked

HDR Game and Standard on that firmware were basically identical. It's effectively the equivalent of having Dynamic Contrast set to Medium on the current firmware. I was playing Horizon Zero Dawn and Forza Horizon 3 a lot during that time and noticed the overall picture quality became dimmer on 4.31.10. 4.31.10 was most people's first taste of HDR Game mode.

I'm confuse ,so the firmware 4.31.20 is already the dim version? I thought that LG was pushing another firmware ,in that case I've been on the 4.31.20 since it got release.

2016 LG C6-B6 owners thread

Hey fellas,

So just bought a C6 and hooked it up to my Xbox One S. After a bunch of tweaking I finally got something resembling a stable setup. Current settings:

- Xbox One S video settings: Allow 4k, Allow HDR, Allow 35Hz, Color bit depth 10-bit
- C6: HDMI Deep color ON

With this I can get input source detected, but once in a while will see 'flashing' of a black screen. Almost like it lost the HDR signal and is re-acquiring handshake. I've tried multiple HDMI inputs on the TV, and do have a 4k rated 18gbps cable, but have ordered a Monoprice certified cable to test which should be coming shortly. I'm on the latest C6 firmware (updated as I thought it would fix it, but now reading this forum, that was the wrong thing to do :|).

If I turn Deep color off, it resolves the issue as it no longer supports HDR, but everytime I bootup an HDR app, the TV turns on Deep Color automatically, essentially putting me in an endless failure loop. A few things I've experienced that I don't think I've read elsewhere: If I turn on the following settings on Xbox One S I get even more severe results:

- Color depth set to 12-bit, I get constant flashing every 2 seconds.
- Color depth set to 8-bit, I dont even get an input signal detected on TV
- Allow YCC 4:2:2, don't get an input signal detected on TV in HDR apps

Thoughts?

I don't do HDR gaming either.

Try DC on "Low" for HDR and report back. With that set, I think HDR Standard looks fine (in my fairly dark room).

I'm thinking of just updating the firmware. It's getting annoying to have to cancel the update notification every time I turn on the TV. Judging from the pictures above, I can't tell that much of a difference - does this actually look accurate? If so, I'm just updating.

Shoot.

Chromecast lines up well with the disc, even though chromecast has known rounding errors in the imperceptible range that could be additive to other issues. On the C6 not an issue and will not use the disc except for advanced patterns or if I change players again. This is with respect to SDR only.

Is there a website with previous firmware versions available somewhere or does the TV simply prevent reversions to old firmware once it has the latest?

Also, my 65" C6 shows up tomorrow and I am still looking for setting recommendations if anyone can point me to a popular post or two with those settings spelled out. I've read through too many pages here and just getting bits and pieces so far. I found a calibration video from 2016 (linked below) but no idea if it is on the right track or a better mix has since been released. ::Edit:: Found this walkthrough as well from Rtings (http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c6-oled/settings). Any thoughts on either of these?

I felt like it looked dimmer than those pics. I noped right out of that FW after 5 minutes in HDR game mode.

Are there other negatives with the new C6 firmware besides the dim HDR mode? I can handle a higher lag for most games, and turn off HDR on the games if I absolutely need a faster response. I'm getting annoyed by the constant notifications to update, and if there are no other problems I may just update anyway.

Also, @BigCoolJesus any idea on when you'll be able to provide measurements for standard HDR mode vs HDR game on the new firmware so we could have a more definite answer to what exactly the TV is doing with the signal?
