i bought LG b6 from US but i'm living outside united states. in Middle east to be specific. however, two days ago i received 05.30.03 update notification. as far as i know American B6 didn't receive this update yet. however, i downloaded the update and it's working fine. but i found it weird that i got an European update. even though, i've sat my TV location on US.

Nope, it doesn't get any direct sunlight. Besides, the blinds were all closed for the weekend while we were out of town.

The US model is the B6P. And I just checked the LG support site -- latest firmware is still 04.31.20 from 6/15.

If you feel bold you could use the 5.30.03 Korean Firmware I posted earlier today. It worked for me on my US spec 65B6P.

Does your TV have DVR capabilities like the European models?

Thanks but I'll just wait. I'm just happy to know that we B6 folks are definitely getting HLG, given that that may well be the HDR format used for broadcast TV in the next few years.

Aside from that, have you noticed any differences in how the new firmware performs -- picture quality, motion, etc? At the very least, I hear we're getting some new "no signal" photos -- no more looking at 4K perfect saliva bubbles on the dog's tongue, I guess!

Unhappy B6 Locking Up

I have an issue with my B6:

The other day, while watching Netflix, the screen image split into two halves with a series of horizontal lines across the whole screen, after a few seconds, the TV screen went completely blank. The menu was unresponsive, in fact all remote buttons were. I powered the TV off and on again via the remote several times, each time the TV made the sound it normally makes when powering on, but each time a blank screen was displayed and all buttons were unresponsive. I unplugged the TV, and then powered again, this appeared to fix the problem.

However, yesterday exactly the same thing happened, I was again left with an unresponsive TV, again power cycling the TV has fixed it.

LG are sending someone to my house next week. My question is; as this is an intermittent issue; what should I do if the LG guy finds nothing wrong?......can I demand a new TV(its only 3 months old)?

If it were me and it did it again, I'd record a video of the issue happening showing how it is unresponsive. I had an issue on my panel where the screen would look distorted and would only appear that way for a split second. Luckily one time it did it, it actually got stuck on the distorted screen and I took several photos of the issue so they could see what it has been doing. Eventually got a new main board installed (which didn't fix the issue), and then a new panel altogether (which did fix the issue). Now I feel like I have vertical banding on the new panel that wasn't as noticeable on the previous panel.

Most obvious is the new pretty scenery pictures for No Signal background as was detailed in Change Log provided by bpmurr.

I made some measurements (HCFR generator) and it seems they may have tweaked near black details. According to my meter 1 % - 4 % brightnesses are now more visible. Lets see if other owners agree.

Owners at a german forum (http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-312-508.html) are saying that blacks are glowing with new FW. Could it be that the 0 % black is skipped and 1 % is the new black? See picture to get what I mean.

LG's solution to crushed blacks was to raise the brightness in FW? Funny. That was my solution within hours of first turning on the TV.

Silly question here buddiess; what do you guys use to clean the OLED screen? microfiber tissue with warm water? I have read some articles that this would be the best choice since other market solutions with luqid would only create swirls in the long term.

Have you tried viewing a UHD movie on Vudu? The current firmware version has playback issues with Vudu UHD titles and curious if that’s been fixed.

If the TV wasn't still under warranty, I would. But I figure that loading the wrong firmware on the TV may violate the warranty and with my luck that's when something would happen to go wrong with the TV and require service, ha!

I'm sure I'll load the new US firmware as soon as it's posted. I'm curious about this change in near-blacks. Sounds like LG tweaked the default gamma curves to make shadow details more visible? I hope so. I've bumped IRE 5 up to help there but I don't think that really impacts IRE 0.5 to 4, which is where the boost is mainly needed.

Not yet, just some Xbox and PS4 Gaming in both HDR and SDR. Unfortunately, no improvements in the gaming area.
