I guess the more we ask LG about Youtube HDR in C6, the sooner we'll get it.
Actually, if it can support it, that's great. I have heard from a few that our TV's don't support it. LG won't have too much say in when we get it, youtube has the final say when their apps get updated.

I would love LG to pressure them but Google updates their stuff to their own schedule unfortunately.

There's even an HLG demo clip from LG:

Watched it on my B6 earlier today after updating the firmware. Looks nice!

I have to say I'm impressed with the level of support from lg on this. I for one will continue to do business with them. Never thought I'd get hlg support on this bad boy!

Thanks. Updated my B6 tonight. Played back this file. Looks great. Pop up displays "HLG HDR". Don't know if it looks any better than the regular HDR of same clip. I'll have to compare.
Glad to have the update.

Wait. So HLG is included in the latest FW update, but not mentioned on their site? I wonder what else has been changed that isn't mentioned. Wonder why they wouldn't mention certain changes, especially good ones.

It's strange isn't it? So I'm watching guardians of the galaxy 2 and it seems near black looks better after the firmware update. I just watched it last night before I updated. It could be placebo effect but it sure looks great! Maybe I'm going nuts.

We are the guinea pigs. Haha. They'll push it automatically when they see we didn't brick our sets.

YES WE ARE! And not just for FW updates. I got a feeling they are performing long term burn-in studies with consumers' sets, too! OK, maybe not. They probably know very well exactly what it takes to burn in an OLED (regardless what their marketing may claim).

Hi everyone,

in the german forum http://www.hifi-forum.de/viewthread-312-508.html is reported that with the new firmware 05.30.03 for the B6 there is no perfect black more.
In a completely dark room, a black image is brightened with the B6 Oled.
That's whybottle of German colleagues their devices back to older firmware versions.
Is not that anyone here so noticeable?

The B6 has a realtek chipset, while the C6 has LG chipset,as do the G6,and E6.

I can confirm that, with the 5.30.01 and the 5.30.03 the blacks are raised, regardless of gamma-setting, sub-brightness, brightness... You can lower your brightness to 0 and the blacks still are raised. You can only see that in a pitch black room with a 0IRE pattern (black pattern), the displays glows... with downgrade to 4.31.25 the blacks are perfect again.
Maybe we in EU have a different FW than yours in the US...
But remember, you really can only see it in a pitch black room with a 0IRE pattern, no other content should be on the display. Even a pause-icon is too much to see the display glow in the dark. Try it for yourself, will be pretty interesting to hear your impressions...

Yes, I know that it has a different chip than the rest of the line. Is it a known problem that the internal player of the B6 has problems with some 4k movies?

I had my B6 on last night and noticed no raised blacks to the point of panel glow. I will check again tonight.

Yes please, but you really need a pitch black room and a completely black pattern without any content on it. And let your eyes adopt to the black room, if you have raised blacks you should see it...
I think it is only our EU-FW that makes trouble... I hope it for you guys

I have installed the new firmware (Brazilian version) and i noticed a slight rise in black levels. When gaming, I used to get pitch black by setting brightness to 52. In my case I just needed to lower it to 51 and I got the pitch black again.

Same here. Now I'm getting much better near dark too. I'm at 51 as well.

Actually they send Dolby Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus if I'm not mistaken. That's how Netflix does it.

Agreed, but the issue is our B6's don't currently send DD+ over ARC.

Neither do any models before the 2017 models. I was just making a comment that no other changes will have to be done for Atmos over ARC once/if DD+ could be sent over ARC.

Hence why I was replying to the previous poster who wanted Atmos over Netflix that he was skipping a few steps.

So for future reference, the Korean firmware and the US firmware are the same files. Good to know for future firmware releases since Korean sets seem to get updates first.

My set does not show the update either. Should I wait a bit or do a manual update??
