Sounds like you probably have motion interpolation on. I personally recommend turning that all off as it is never perfect, and destroys the original artistic intent anyway. Keep Real Cinema on, as that allows for proper 24fps playback, but turn off TruMotion dejudder and deblur settings imo.

Deblur only affects interpolation of content higher than 30fps, so for example, news and sports, to 120hz. Dejudder is the main setting that affects anything 30fps or under. The higher the setting, the more interpolation you're applying. It results in a higher frame rate, but you're going to get way more artifacts and inconsistent conversions (occasional frame drops as you've seen). If you turn both to 0, and keep Real Cinema on, you see the original content at their original frame rate. 24fps content plays at a proper 24fps cadence, 60fps content plays at 60fps. No interpolation, no pulldown judder, just proper frame rate playback.

But some people don't like the way that looks, so YMMV.

Many thanks for the answer and sharing your experience.

Re: Hobbit HDR 48 fps. It is a soft copy, that I watched on my laptop and old Samsung TV. Both showed in 48 fps.

Re: Motion interpolation. Can't find the settings on my TV. Can you help?

My final question then will be based on your settings with RC on, Tm off, what picture mode do you use(i.e Amazon or Netlfix streaming)?

With the pace of technological change these days we're always going to be tempted to get the next best thing. At some stage there is point of diminishing returns, but I guess that's different for everyone.

I remember when I bought a car in 2013 that had a 3G WiFi hotspot. And I actually asked myself in 2014, should I trade this in for 4G? (I did not and have survived.)

I got a great deal on my 55B6P a year ago this week, and I'm very pleased with my setup. Just as I was pleased with the 11 years I got out of my previous 42" Samsung plasma, lol.

All understandable. However, my plasma in the bedroom still handles motion and lower quality sources better than my B6. If there is an OLED option this year that closes this gap with plasma, I'll consider upgrading.

Like something you downloaded? If that's the case I'd assume what you downloaded is the result of someone applying motion interpolation on the actual file. Unless someone ripped it directly from the DCP, which I find very unlikely (or we'd be seeing Blu-ray quality rips as soon as movies were in theaters)

Can anyone recommend high quality, zero chance of having any issues, 15FT HDMI cables? I thought the ones I bought were good enough, but they aren't.

Improved motion processing/interpolation (with fewer artifacts) and better presentation of lower quality sources (cleaning up noise, compression artifacts, banding) are supposed to be two of the main features of LG's new Alpha-9 processor in the just-announced 2018 C, E, G and W-series OLEDs. (The B-series will have a lower-quality processor with, I imagine, very similar picture quality to the 2017 OLEDs.) Initial reviews from CES say that the Alpha-9 does make a noticeable difference in picture quality, although not a dramatic difference.

At any rate, it's good to see LG trying to improve in their areas of weakness. I don't know that motion is any better on the 2017 Sony A1-E OLED than on the 2017 LGs (more than one source I've read says they're similar overall) but I do think that Sony does a better job than LG in their TVs across the board when it comes to upscaling and cleaning up lower quality sources.

Any better options out there? I obviously did not purchase one originally, and have had no problems yet, knock on wood.
Did you purchase it at least partly on a credit card? Check into your credit card benefits. My Citi Double Cash card adds 24 months warranty to any item purchased at least in part on the card. It’s probably more paperwork since you have to work with the CC company on the repair/replacement, but it’s a free extended warranty!

Yep, maybe you're right, cause I've always thought those movies are issued originally in 48 fps just like in the Cinema.

Go to Picture / Picture Mode Settings / Picture Options

Don't have this option, jlack level, RC, Motion Eye Care and TM. Nevermind, I guess it is off by default.

LG OLED 65C6V Matrix Broken Problem. Colors scrambled and TV won't turn on.

Hello,

This is my second LG OLED tv that i had bad luck with it.
First LG oled i had was 55"b6 series. When i watch the movie i started to see lines and color shifts, return it to the service and i got my money back. This is my old b6 how it looked like when i turn it on.

I can't post direct link of the video so here it is in this format.

youtube.com/watch?v=vPSP4yqD72c&ab_channel=Couch_Ech

Than i bought 65" C6 series and it worked fine with for 5 months. I watch 4k HDR movies via plex(xplay app) without problems. Than yesterday when i watch Blade runner in 4k via plex(xplay app) i got the same picture problem just like with my old B6. Color lines and scrambled colors, than after that TV turned off and i could not turn it on again only the red power lamp is on. I try to disconnected it from the power overnight and than turn it on without any luck. TV is dead, matrix is dead.

Has anyone had similar issues with ther LG oled 6 series?

I'm planing now if i get refund to buy B7 series. I hope i will not have the same problems like i have with 6 series because i really like picture quality of LG oleds, it is amazing. Too bad their electronics sucks.

It's been a long, long time since the last the firmware update release from LG for the B6. I am currently using the latest firmware, but was holding on until the next update, rather than downgrading to the more popular version.

Does anyone know if the B6 will actually get any more firmware updates?

Thanks!

Ok, this is a non topic related question, on the talk app when you search for a word or something and you get results, no matter what search result I click on it takes me to the last one, this did not happen until recently, how in the world do I fix this?

This sounds like a Software related error, probably just a cache issue. You should be able to fix this by unplugging the TV and leaving it disconnected from any power source for at least 1 minute so all memory cells are discharged.

I have had nothing but macroblocking hell with Dunkirk on my current setup, wondering if anyone else with the same setup is having the same problems. Whenever there's a white sky, pinky macroblocking chunks appear in the skies. It's riddled throughout the entire film on my setup and is driving me nuts.

My setup is an LG OLED 55" C6, playing from an Oppo 203 and a Panasonic UB900, both resulting in the same case of pink macroblocking.

Pictures seen here: https://imgur.com/a/b2as8
(Sorry for the crappy iphone quality)

Anyone else with a similar setup experiencing the same problem?
I played the same sequence on my mates 55" B7 yesterday and there was no pinky macroblocking as seen in the photos.

I'm also experiencing the same pinky macro blocking in the whites on the Blade Runner 4K UHD

Thanks, Alex

Thanks for checking. Yeah the blu-ray plays flawlessly, but the 4K is a real mess on my setup. I think my C6 could be bugging out.

Maybe try unplugging the HDMI cable from both ends....and reconnect it?

Dunkirk is by far the worst, but Blade Runner, Deadpool, Alien Covenant, Prometheus, and a few others have displayed this error. Basically anything where there is gradients of white, it peaks with a pink blobby mess.

Some more examples: Adjusted the levels a bit so you can see the banding better. https://imgur.com/a/AtpgN

I see the reddish tint in the whites. Don't have any ideas...maybe drop you color level a notch or two. Just checked the color level on mine with La La Land 4k HDR playing...it's at 43. But my settings are perhaps a bit conservative. Still, looks good...
