For all of you that purchased the B/C/E sets recently, there's been another sizable price drop sale. Get to gettin' that refund money if at all possible for you. Your wallet will be sure to thank you!

Attached are HFCR reports from my calibration of my 55B6. Also checking to see if I can post images. Apologies in advance if I neglect any forum rules...still a noob on that.

I've read there is a certain amount of black crush on these sets. It is that noticeable or do you have to look for it? Presently I have a perfectly fine JS 9500, but with the recent price drop, the C-6 is tempting. We watch our flicks in a dark rook with bias lighting. Thanks in advance.

^ Unless you're very familiar with the content, it's tough to say if lost shadow detail was the director's intent or the fault of the display.

In either case, when comparing the lost shadow detail of my OLED to my Sony 940c (a display not known for crushed blacks), I don't see significant differences between them. The Sony does have, in some scenes, a bit more shadow detail, but not enough to make it a concern for me.

As Buzz, our resident owner/calibrator has said, with proper calibration, this can be minimized.

I think LG waited long enough for must of us to drop out of our return window, other than BB highest level members I knew they would drop, but 20% in 2 months for the 65B was inconceivable to me, or I would have waited. Fortunately i used the 4th of July sale to renegotiate my purchase and I'm still even with this price, so no regrets. If they keep dropping prices at this rate, it looks like the wife will get the 55B she wants for the bedroom!

I want to thank SONY for bring out the Z9 that has caused LG to reduce the price of the OLED65C6P down to my level of $4000.

I'll be at Best Buy later today.

The E is still at $5500 at Best Buy but Amazon has it for $5000 so I can get them to price match Amazon.

Well, I guess the one upside to my search for crosstalk-free 3D is that I'm still inside the return window for my current set. (Which I'm keeping.) Will be heading down to BB later today.

But already having an E and being disenchanted with OLED, why would you?

Just cause I have my doubts and express some dissatisfaction with it sometimes doesn't mean I'm disenchanted with it. There are lots of times that I think it looks great. When I have issues with it, I get upset and come on here and vent! Im just gonna see what the first owner impressions are for the Z9D and then decide if it's worth giving it a try or if I'm happy enough with the E to just stick with it. One person that preordered the Z9D has an E6 so that is a perfect candidate for a solid comparison between the two.

Who is that? Is he ordering the larger 75" unit?

I mentioned the 75" because I thought he liked his 65" OLED (maybe he has the 55"?), so I thought he'd get another. Unless he's still in a return period and hoping to get the Z before that's up, to compare.

EDIT: So to answer my own question, he has an E that he's returning and he'll shortly be receiving the Sony 65" Z9D. As a result, he won't be able to do a side by side, so his comparisons will be somewhat suspect to begin with. We are notoriously bad when it comes to 'remembering' exactly what a TV, no longer in our possession, looked like.

So this will be nothing like a true A/B.

Nah, I'm greedy. I was predicting a $3500 selling price for the 65B6/C6 this holiday season and some retailers now have it at $3600. I'm figuring possibly $3000 come turkey time.

Well if the Sony looks significantly better then he should be able to tell pretty easily. I get what you're saying a side by side would be ideal but this is at least better than someone who didn't just live with an OLED.

Significantly better? I'm definitely calling that in advance...no way! I think he's disillusioned by the banding presence after 3 tries like myself.

my ears were burning and now I know why! yes, it's true I've made the decision - although I'm still wavering - to replace my E6 with a 65 Z9. as video analysis suggested, i am a bit disillusioned but i have no interest in bashing LG here. the E6 is AMAZING and (unless I change my mind) ill miss those true blacks, passive 3D, watching MP in DV () and more.

ken is correct that I won't be able to do a direct, side-by-side comparison. however, I've watched the E6 for many hundreds of hours and i'm very familiar with the picture at this point. i should be able to identify any major differences with the Z9. the upside is that I have no axe to grind either way. If the Z9 doesn't perform, it's going back and I'll be getting another OLED. stay tuned!

Got a B6 yesterday - have a TiVo hooked to it and set up the remote to control it - works pretty well except there isn't a button that I could find that would do fast forward. I tried hitting play quickly multiple times - that did nothing. Tried right arrow but that didn't work either. Only thing I could find was to use screen remote button and then use cursor to click on the fast forward onscreen button. While that works it is a bit of a pain. Anyone else using a TiVo and the magic remote to control it?

Finally decided to take the plunge and bought a 55 B6 at best buy today. Not getting it till next weekend, could have had it sooner but didn't want to take the day off from work. They wouldn't budge on the price but when I started to turn around to leave the salesperson said hang on a minute. She went and got the sales manager and when he pulled up my BB rewards account, elite plus, he said "I can't lower the tv price but I see you buy a lot of 4k blu rays." I ended up walking out with about $200 worth of free movies so while I would have rather had the money off I really can't complain. Now just have to round someone up to help me take the old tv off the wall and swap it out. Fingers crossed I get a good panel.
