My 65C6 keeps on giving me an upgrade software message, every time I turn it on. I have the auto software turned off,so why am I still getting the update message?

It just does.... funny thing is I noticed it there only in the TV "about" area for the 1st few days and then it seemed to get more and more aggressive practically yelling down my throat at me. For whatever its worth I did the upgrade and it didn't break anything.

Having auto update turned off just prevents the tv from automatically downloading the update when it detects it is available. That is why you are getting the message, the tv is asking your permission first.

Yep, I've been using the ATV app and the one for iOS while at work.

Thats some good info you shared about the streaming service for UVERSE, as I've been waiting on it. Guy mentioned it while doing my install last year. Hate that my trees took away DirecTV for me.

When are you guys with b6/c6 thinking getting a new tv and will it be an OLED? I've had b6 for a year and i don't think i will need another tv for years yet. Probably could not notice much difference in pq compared to 2018 models.

I probably won't get another TV until I can get a 4000 nit OLED lol. Good chance I'll be sticking with this TV for quite some time. Heck even if I get another TV I'll probably still keep this one for 3D.

This. The only reason I would willingly buy another TV is to upgrade, and nothing out there is an upgrade over my 3D OLED!

I expect to get 8-10 years from this tv, with 50,000 hrs rated usage should easily handle that.

I'll wait for, minimally hdmi 2.1 to upgrade to the "next gen", but I might give up early if 2017 models becomes economically convenient enough just for dd+/trueHD atmos over ARC feature.

At least for the dd+/trueHD atmos over ARC feature you won't have to upgrade anything else, unlike HDMI 2.1, where you'll have to upgrade almost everything else to take full advantage of it.

Morphin - did you ever figure out how to adjust the rolloff point/curve for HDR10 content on these displays?

No its not possible with the calibration controls, as those controls only affect content up to the ~400 nit point. The only way to affect it is to use HDR Game mode, which rolls off after the 1500 nit point instead of the 500 nit point of HDR Standard, but you need to make sure you block out all light in your room if you want to use that mode because otherwise it's too dark.

Dolby Vision content usually works as a nice compromise between the two modes. It feels nearly as bright as HDR Standard, and you don't lose as much highlight detail and color volume as HDR Standard does, although HDR Game does have better highlight definition than Dolby Vision in most cases.

Question, Im going to pick up a new receiver at Best Buy today. Our tvs C6 cant pass atmos correct or is there a way to get atmos soundtracks to play while watching a 4k bluray (disc)? Just wanting verification before spending money on a new avr.

Well i have soundbar that supports atmos and can play dolby atmos audio with ps 4 pro blu-ray player (connection from ps 4 pro to soundbar and soundbar to tv), i suppose if your receiver supports atmos and you have necessary speakers it would work.

If you are getting a new receiver make sure that it can pass 4k/HDR10/DolbyVision and and has Atmos/DTS:X capability. If you want a bit more future proofing HDR10+/Intellevision HDR. Oh and at minimum it has to be HDCP 2.2 compliant and have HDMI 2.0a or higher.

If the receiver has the above features you don't need ATMOS pass-through to get Atmos from a 4K player. The 4K player will connect to your receiver and the receiver will play the audio while passing the video to the TV.

The Atmos Pass-through on the TV over HDMI ARC is only to be able to listen to the DD+ Atmos tracks available through built-in TV apps.

Appreciate the info. I knew you did a lot of work on getting the most out of HDR on these. I find myself about to buy some catalogue titles on HDR and want to see if its worth diving in deep for the C6s or not. Somethings can be 'good enough' I know. Did you find much benefit doing a full/manual calibration of the HDR standard mode above and beyond just using defaults with correct settings?

I apologize if this is posted already, but what are some recommended settings for Dolby Vision on a C6? I finally got a player that supports DV and the initial results look terrible IMO. Thanks!

How are you playing Atmos though your PS4 Pro? The PS4 Pro doesn't support 4K bluray and the apps don't have Atmos support.

I'm asking because I have a PS4 Pro & an Xbox One S / X and I don't see any Atmos option on PS4 Pro.

Unless you mean your streaming bitstream Dolby from your PS4 and the soundbar is outputting it as Atmos.

Yeah the 20pt controls made a pretty noticeable improvement imo, but I don't use HDR Standard for very much because HDR Game and Dolby Vision modes offer better PQ most of the time, but I do still use HDR Standard for movies that don't have super bright highlights or Dolby Vision support, and also for HDR content on Amazon, so it is beneficial in those situations, but my SDR calibration has been more useful overall. If you use HDR Standard a lot, though, then it's definitely worth calibrating that for sure.

Some standard/3D Blu-rays do have atmos support and will output that on PS4. Not sure if that's what they meant or not.

65C6P--Stutter in 60fps viewing

Has anyone noticed stuttering occurring during sports viewing on their sets? I have DirecTV and can't remember seeing this before until fairly recently and now it's really bugging me. I watch a lot of basketball and that's where I first noticed it. Just seems like every 5-10 seconds or so there's a quick stutter in the motion. I'm watching The Masters now and notice it here as well. It seems like it is only during sports that it is occurring.

If you have TrueMotion on, turn it off. Same with Real Cinema. 60 fps does not need any additional processing.

All enhancement settings are turned off. Real Cinema is set to on but is greyed out. I've never had to go in and change anything when going from watching something else and switching over to sports before which tells me it's not something in my settings.

Unless I had been missing this for a long time and just noticed it now, this has cropped up fairly recently. Does anyone know if Sports Center runs at 60fps or is it only live sports? I'm seeing it on Sports Center and can clearly see it affect the ticker scroll at the bottom of the screen when it happens. It goes from running smoothly to becoming choppy/stuttery for a split second then back to smooth again.
