@home_theatre_man Are you saying you are able to get the Amazon Netflix app to work at Dolby Vision 2160p using the power on sequence you described?
The Netflix app will remain on 2160p (4K60), but use HDR-10 instead of Dolby Vision.

Setting the Fire TV Stick 4K to Auto will result in the Netflix app using Dolby Vision, but at 1080p (2K60) resolution.

Because the Prime app will use native frame rate, it will output Dolby Vision at 4K24 (e.g. Jack Ryan) to the B6.

@home_theatre_man Ok thanks, what are your specific settings on the fire stick display menu that yield the best result for you? What color depth are you using?

I'm thinking of just using settings that bypass DV all together since Jack Ryan seems to be the only content on the firestick. Any flaws to that logic?

For the B6:

Video Resolution > Auto (up to 4K Ultra HD)

It's eventually going to reset itself to Auto no matter what, so I just let it do its thing unless I need to force 4K temporarily for some reason. Then I set > 2160p.

Match Original Frame Rate > ON (switches to OFF automatically if you set > 2160p).

Color Depth > Up to 10 bits

Color Format > Auto (doesn't really matter because it's going to use YCbCr regardless of what you choose).

Dynamic Range Settings > Adaptive

I haven't seen anything but Jack Ryan that the Fire TV Stick 4K will send to a B6 in *4K* Dolby Vision, but there may be other Prime programming I'm not aware of.

With Disney+ coming out in a few weeks, what are the odds that we will get a built in App for it for the 2016 models?

It's confirmed we won't

However if you don't care about HDR, you can use Hulu if you bundle it

Not true, I live in the Netherlands and I use the Disney+ app on the LG B6.

Wow! Disney listed all of the devices that would get it and did not include ours, which wasn't too surprising to me since we don't have any other Disney apps. Very cool to hear that other devices might be available. However you're also in the beta test then right? Because it's possible they may not be ready to make that app available to everyone right away.

I tried that without any joy, but as fate would have it, just as I was about to send off info on a trouble ticket to LG (unfortunately the TV in no long under warranty), it started working properly and has been now for several days. Experience has taught me that once something electrical shows signs of failure, it eventually does. I just hope it'll be about 3-5 years from now. Here is what it looked like for two days:

OLED B6 65 inch owner. Purchased August 2016. Been a wonderful set until today. There’s now a horizontal line across the screen about 4 inches from the bottom. The right side it’s very black, but as it goes across it fades to a whiter line and is very hard to see on the left half of the screen. Fortunately I bought the expensive Best Buy 5 year warranty. I have a feeling it’s not going to get better.

I saw a post on the c9 owners thread talking about a 1 time courtesy repair for burning on any oled tv up to 4 years old and was just wondering if anyone else had heard or actually received a repair/replacement for a oled from this gen as my b6 has quite a bad bit of burn in that happened really early into its life span and never went away.

I'd love to have the panel fixed as it drives me nuts when I watch it but wasn't sure if this was actually a thing or not.

You have to call LG and speak with them, it's supposedly a one time courtesy replacement.

Does anyone use a Fire TV 4K stick with their B6? Why can't it display 4K and DV at the same time? The Apple TV I have hooked up to the B6 does it so I'm guessing it's something wrong with the Fire TV settings. But I've played around with different settings and I still can't get it display both. I can only choose to get either 1080p/DV or 4K/HDR10.

Read a page or so up. Basically the b6 only does DV in 2160p30. I'm guessing the Apple TV recognizes this and switches to the proper res. The fs4k does not and drops back to 1080p for all apps other than prime video.

You can manually set the fs4k at 2160p24 (probably 2160p30 as well but didn't test) through a special menu and DV will work in Netflix at 4k.

Leave the settings at their defaults, and just turn off all artificial enhancements like trumotion, dynamic contrast, etc.

Also, if you accidentally changed OLED Light to 100 on any of the DV modes, change it back to 50. 50 is optimal. 100 crushes and dims highlights to the point where it can look barely different than SDR at times. 100 is correct for HDR10 modes, but not for DV.

Tried that last night. Line is still there and no change. Looks like I’ll be calling Best Buy soon. Anyone know if I get a new tv or just a panel replacement? Oddly my B6 has had zero image retention issues and it’s usually on the same few channels with logos. But total hours on it are only about 3 hours per day over 3 years.

TV keeps auto switching to Deep Color

Hey all. Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. My B6 is connected to a Tivo Bolt and works great EXCEPT when I load the netflix app and play HDR content. The content plays just fine but a message pops up on the TV saying it needs to reboot to switch to Deep Color. There is no cancel option... once the pop-up appears, the gears are in motion and the TV reboots about 10 seconds later. When the TV powers back on, there's no picture. I have to go through the TV menu and manually turn Deep color back off on that HDMI port.

In the TIVO setting there is an option to automatically switch to HDR when available... I have this turned off.

Are you using a certified cable? I had a similar problem recently when I added a HD fury to my system that would cut out when HDR was enabled at full resolution. I actually was using a certified cable but it was 20 ft long, I had to switch to a cable under 12'.

I have a DirecTv C61K. The latest firmware fixed the forced 24fps for 4K Sports on Channels 105 & 106.
However. I have seen significant judder when watching movies on HBO & Showtime on my B6P. Real Cinema is ON. It wasn’t this bad before this firmware. Any other DirecTv 4K customers seeing this?

Thanks

If the source is outputting 60p, real cinema won't do anything. You'll need to unfortunately turn on TruMotion, and set dejudder to 1 to get the correct 24p cadence. You'll unfortunately get some motion artifacts, but they're rare. It's too bad these TVs don't have a proper 60p-to-24p mode without using TruMotion.

If they're not 4K channels, it's best to just set output to 1080i. That way you get proper 24p cadence using Real Cinema without needing TruMotion.

I ended up upgrading to the C9 as well. After months of problems with apps on my devices ( CCU and Fire TV ) and countless support cases with Vudu/Netflix/Amazon/Google/Movies Anywhere/Fox Sports etc, and everybody pointing the finger at LG, i realized this B6 just wasnt going to cut it anymore.

I brought the C9 home and hooked it up and wala, all the apps started working as expected. Vudu and Netflix were "fixed" , now showing Dolby Vision @ 4k. Movies Anywhere app on the Fire TV no longer said "this device does not support 4k playback". Including some non-Dolby Vision related things, so i don't think the issues were solely related to Dolby Vision. For example, the Fox Sports app ( on Fire TV ) started showing me the "4k HDR" banner on certain games.

I noticed the Dolby Vision version on the B6 was 0.9. The DV version on the C9 is 2.1.something.

I mention it here because some of the other B6 owners might be experiencing some of these same problems.
