So long as the LCD is passive 3D then I'm with you. I really don't want active to be anyone's answer to this, because IMO it's part of why 3D received such a black eye in the beginning.

4K+passive+OLED is really the way to go, from all accounts, even from former "3D haters".

LCD+passive is a fairly good 2nd place. It's what I have, and we love it at our house.

who started the petition. If so and if you continue to monitor this thread on AVS, I've noticed a big surge of signatories over the past 24-hours (over 1000) and wonder if you have any insight as to why?

Also, having now passed 7000 and 8000 signatures and looking like 10,000 may be reached soon, what is your plan for communication with LG? Are you keeping outfits like Forbes up to date with momentum on the petition?

What he said. Stunning. I was blown away and this is coming from a active 3D fanboy with a 61" DLP 3D TV and of course the requisite DLP projector to go with those stupid expensive glasses. Nail it and then they drop the format?????? I may sign the thing but at this point not sure it matters. No more 3D TVs but their new 4k disc player is going to support 3D. I can't figure that one out and I am sure there is more to it that LG simply is not going to tell us. They have to compete with Samsung.

For those with a 3D OLED -- set depth from 12 to 15 and point of view to -6 for the 2D to 3D conversion and take a look at any 4K (non HDR) shows on Netflix. I'm impressed!

WOW! ~ 7,500 to 8,600+ in 12 hours and +1 contributor. I'm curious how much $ gets the attention of 1,100 new supporters. Unless someone else has kicked it up a notch in posting or an article was published. Thanks.

Must be aido doing his you-will-sign-the-petition Jedi thing.

To be honest I have no idea what happened yesterday - in the morning I was seeing lots of comments from France so something was published over there again (or they were just reading a previous link as there have been a LOT of signatures from there) and looking at the sigs a lot of signatures last night so something must have been published there or made a group aware.

Just have to wait for Google to catch up to try and work it out. Rick from the Blu-ray forums has been pushing it over on Twitter and tweeted LGUS yesterday so guessing some people have seen that.

There was something supposed to have gone into the UK newspapers at the weekend but I don't tend to buy them so didn't pick any up to check! It was a freelance journalist I spoke to so maybe it's been run elsewhere.

The guy who runs the UK AVForums said even if we had every single one of their 300k members sign it wouldn't make any difference to LG - we're never going to get those sorts of numbers so we may be trying to steer the Titanic with a toothpick but at least we're trying

We only need another 15% for 10k so please mention this to anyone who may not know about the death of 3D!

I have a small collection of 3D bluray movies that i've collected over the past 3-4 years and I don't even have a TV that can do 3D. I just use my friend's LG 55" HDTV to watch but now I'll be able to watch at home with my 55" E6. Wasn't going to upgrade and I did get a projector with 3D to tie me over for the next year or 3 but just couldn't resist as prices drop and finding out 3D is gone in 2017 models by all major brands...except China brands.

Take a look at any of the 4K Go Pro videos on You Tube converted by the OLED from 2D to 3D. Set 3D depth to +15 to +18 and Point-of-View to -6. These videos along with Netflix 1080p and 4K material for the most part looks spectacular (IMO look much better converted to 3D than watched in 2D). For me, this was the huge bonus offered by the 2016 OLEDs. Most here knew about how good the 3D playback was with the OLEDs but the 2D to 3D conversion (not always perfect but really good for the most part) was a real surprise for me -- especially the fact that it works with 4K material (which no doubt it down converts but it sure looks very impressive). I have zero interest in the 2017 models and HDR/DV in general.

Just got my C6 due to no 3D in 2017. MIND BLOWN. How in the hell can LG look at their own product and not be amazed at the perfection in displaying passive 3D?!? As everyone else says...if this version of home 3D came out in the beginning, it would not be dying out today. Here's hoping glasses-free technology comes about sooner rather than later, to save the day!

How can LG just ignore over 9,000 votes/potential customers? Were there 9,000+ people signing a petition to remove 3D? Obviously many people are upset over this. It's sad that a company can be so big, and care so little for what their customers say they want, that they can just ignore 9,000 votes on a petition.

The fact that LG can ignore so many people's concerns is disappointing. Yeah, it's not millions. But really, how many high-end TVs are they selling anyways? 9,000 potential future customers is not something to ignore. Do the math - 9,000 customers at $2,000 (average) per set, just for a rough number.

LG had something that nobody else had, and they threw it away with no concern for their customers. This isn't like dropping a small feature - this renders our entire collection of expensive 3D movies useless. And it's still a current format!

It's a beautiful thing. If LG would have marketed more on the 3D, insisting on displays in stores, I think 3D would have taken off. The first 3D displays were blah, at best. On these sets, they're amazing. So sad.

I don't think marketing would have made any difference at all - 3D has been overmarketed for years and is 'old news' (compared to HDR, which is new news).

All LG needed to do was to continue to offer the already-developed feature on at least one of their two entry-level offerings to recognize the established (and sustainable) demand for 3D.

They already had set up everything perfectly by introducing a single 3D-less offering last year with the B6P - all they needed to do was remove the curve from the C7 but leave 3D alone despite whatever impact that would have on reduced imorovements to brightness. With nothing more than having 3D support checked asa feature, they eould have had all they needed.

Then, when they saw the C7 outsold the B7 by a noticable degree, despite having 2016 HDR brightness levels, they would have had their apples-to-apples proof that there is a meaningful segment of the market that values 'old-news' 3D over uber-brightness for 'new-news' HDR...

Instead, their are wasting an entire second entry-level offering to determine how the demand for a silver bezel compares to the demand for a black bezel...

What a waste.

A 3D TV on display does not grab anyone's attention. Put Ultra-D glasses-free 3D on an LG OLED and that will turn heads. Probably a lot more than UHD.

Here is one more vote for 3D. The picture on my LG Oled E6P is the best I have ever seen. 3D use to give me a headache. No More! And as I wear glasses anyway, I just add clip on flip ups.

Having lived with an E6 (actually two of them) for several months now I've lost all interest in the many other display devices I own. I sit about 7 or 8 feet back and watch all 2D converted to 3D (manual settings -- point-of-view minus 7 and depth plus 15. I've lost all interest in HDR/DV. Normal 3D is as good as it gets and properly setup 2D to 3D conversion is a major bonus for me -- who would have guessed? For me the 2016 LG OLEDs were the best bang for the buck displays out there and the only ones I'd be interested in purchasing in 2017.

I guess since no manufactures are putting them out for 2018...all hope is lost. Projectors still have the feature. Best take care oF your 3D tv, if your lucky enough to have one.
