Here's an image of the table pasted into Evernote. Yeah, it's not pretty, but it has the xyY data you are after:

The tracking for the ETOF is very good with Cinema Pro but not perfect. I could probably make another run and try to correct 70% which will improve it, but the dE2000 is only 2.1 so that's being picky. Given the choice I usually try to make as few adjustments as possible.

I'll probably start a running review of it over at Reference Home Theater tomorrow. Another one of my writers also bought one but lacks the HDR measurement gear at the moment. I'll also be watching some of the test clips from Amazon and the Sony camp demo and others to see how they look. I know from watching Camp on the X900E, Custom there preserved the most highlight detail, but it does so by reducing the light output at almost all output levels, and Custom is behaving differently on the A1E.

The A1E's demo content, including the Sony 4K HDR "Glassblowing" demo video (724MB, Length:1:24), is located in the /data_demo folder. You can use an app like ES File Explorer and navigate to the root (/) to get to the Device's data_demo folder.

I know we have some Z9D and LG OLED owners who may wish to view it on their TVs, so I uploaded the file to Mega and emailed Demo UHD-3D to ask them if they can post it on their site. Hopefully they'll add it to their HDR library soon, there's too much LG and not enough Sony...

This is it... it's the one that was shown in CES in January and demo'd in various settings like in this video with Sony Europe's Gavin McCarron.

Thanks, really interesting. I am on the same page as you regarding making fewer adjustments. Based on those readings it looks like you're going to get clipping in the clouds in Sony Camp demo. I'm not criticising your calibration at all, it's interesting how challenging it is to get good enough along the curve from 0% to 70%, and also retain bright whites while not losing details above the 75% level.

I don't have a dedicated pattern generator so I can't dig into it, but I'd love to see 1% increments from 70% to 85% (or 90%) gray so that we could really see what the tone mapping is doing. Im looking forward to seeing more detail on the other modes tone mapping.

Thanks again for sharing, really interesting stuff

No because the Dolby Vision picture mode will be a separate picture mode on the Sony and you don't have to recalibrate with every new update lol.

Al just to be clear, the difference is with HDR Custom picture mode. I has nothing to do with the calibration or SDR. It "appears" that Sony might have fixed the tone mapping in Custom HDR PM, which is the interpolation of the luminance above where the set rolls off because after the update you can see the highlights which were missing pre update.

He was speculating. Just saw an OOTB 55-inch C7 that looks equally as uniform. The uniformity of whatever panel you receive is a function of the lottery and the panel size (the bigger it is, the greater the probability of backplane defects).

Just need to ask. My 65" along with 3 others I've installed all have a slight curve at the top of the screen. When you look from the side the center of the tv is bowed out I tiny bit. Is everyone else's set like this. Check it out. I realize the panel is super thin and the larger the panel is the harder it is to be completely flat being so thin but I'm just curious if they all have it. It seems to me that it's were the stand base is attached is were it's bowed out a bit.

LG has been the worst (large) manufacturer of TVs since they started making TVs and only until 2014-present have they competiting for top spot, but that's only because they have a monopoly on consumer OLED panels.

Once Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, Philips start making their own OLED panels I don't think we'll ever see LG being a top 5 contender again.

$0.02
Everyone already knows all of that. But again, this is the Sony A1E owner's thread, so current and future A1E owners aren't concerned about LGE's OLED and LCD businesses.

And FYI - there's other OLED industry threads here where future additional OLED TV panel makers are discussed. For a quick reference - Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, and Hitachi are all a part of Japan Display's efforts to print OLED TV panels (this venture is called JOLED). And Samsung has an investment in China Star (along with numerous Chinese OEMs) who will also print OLED TV panels. So yes, there will eventually be plenty of competition in the OLED TV panel manufacturing sector, but these partnership groups are still about 2 years away.

Hi guys,

For those that have wall mounted the TV - is it possible to confirm the exact measurements from the back of the wall to the front of the TV?

I have a recess and just want to make sure that this will fit well and not stick out too much...i have heard 3 different measurements from those that have it mounted

Any owners come from the LG B6? Saw this guy in the flesh, and I am tempted. I have always wanted a Sony. I might wait until Black Friday if anyone thinks the price might drop a bit. Looks like the 65" Z9 hasn't dropped much, but that does not have a '17 replacement, so I am not sure that is a good comparison.

4K input lag - not in game mode

Hi -

Has anyone measured the input lag with a 4K signal and NOT in game mode? As far as I can tell all reviews have been done while inside that mode.

Thanks

Recently got the 55 B6 for 2 grand but I just saw the A1E at best buy and now I wish I had the money for this set lol. Absolutely gorgeous looking display. It immediately reminded me of the Pioneer Kuro in the way it displayed images. Motion looked sharp and smooth, and everything looked "real", like you could reach in and touch the objects. I suppose it could have been the demo material though. Even the styling has that Pioneer solid, no nonsense look. Either way, super jealous of you guys

So dogmatic. No matter what TV one chooses, a sacrifice has to be made whether that be in a higher cost, a missing feature (3D), diminished screen real estate, lower maximum brightness (and faithful reproduction of HDR highlights), aesthetics (bottom of the list), etc. Browbeating someone over the head who didn't make the same choice even after their own evaluation is not how AVS is supposed to work.
