Where did you purchase it from?

ValkyrieStation 03-11-2017 03:02 PM

Here's to hoping the A1E lives up to our expectations! *Crossing fingers*

For anyone who might need it, a link to AVS HD 709 Display Calibration for 0-5% Near Black and 100% Full White videos/slides. For the MP4 version, the video files are inside the MP4-2c/ColorHCFR Fields/Near Black and Near White folders.

where and how much?

Sebring5 03-11-2017 05:36 PM

I am not discussing my purchase. If you are interested in buying, any Sony dealer can help you. HD Guru has a helpful article: https://hdguru.com/sony-4k-ultra-hd-...ed/#more-20552

Dang you beat me to it.

I'm only waiting to hear on motion and to see how if, in being an LG panel, there is still vertical banding & vignetting present.

Congratulations on your new venture. Your views once you've setup, would be of great interest. Did you do any comparison prior to your purchase?

Hope the new Sony sets are good. Maybe i can take a chance and buy one in a few years or until my 60vt60 dies.

There is no such thing as a perfect panel, never has been never will be.

I >hate< to be THAT guy, but my old 5020 and ZT60 beg to differ on the "has been" - as for the will be, one can hope. Heck the Vizio P I'm running now has no banding (ran single-digit % gray slides to verify), but it does have darker corners. My JS8500 had clouding at top left, and my B6 had a 1.5" vertical band right down the middle.

Hoping my A1, if it is afflicted with banditis, has it closer to the edges so I don't see it as much.

It's all luck of the draw. I'm sure there's a few perfect ones out there somewhere.

Im going to be a "guy" here ;) and say that most panels from LG or any other mfger are just fine. AVS forums and others like it are for discussing problems. Posts about how happy everone is gets boring fast. So, this banding or whatever is NOT widespread at all. It affects a miniscule number of actual owners. of course, if people only got info from these forums then they'd never buy anything, lol! Check the Z9 threads or the KS9800 threads(or any others).... its nothng but "stuff going wrong". Just saying.

I agree with Chris at ClevelandAV that NO TV is perfect. Even this new Sony OLED. It'll be a great set, Im sure. Im glad they(Sony) are entering the game since the more mfgers doing OLED, the better it is for the tech. Maybe next time Ill get me one?

This all being said - we all have a RIGHT to expect high quality panels and images from sets that cost a lot of money and are considered top of the line so that also comes into play! :)

If the OLED65C7P is $4999, that's right in line at $5499.

Only BB has that listed as 6500. The others have the number we all expected.

The official Sony site says $5000 and $6500 respectively for the 55" and 65".
Who has the other prices?

PeterLewis 03-14-2017 06:26 AM

Count me in....yeaaaaa.....Just put in my Pre-Order $5498.99.

turts85 03-26-2017 09:26 AM

5K??? for the 55"...and its still and LG panel right? Yup, Sony back at it again with their crazy pricing.

alettiere 03-26-2017 10:42 AM

Has anyone preordered at BB with the expectation of paying MSRP? Just curious.

Hey, hey, no price talk on the Owner's Thread! Especially from non-owners and complainers of the Sony tax, lol. :D

I'm a little skeptical to think that people who follow the threads here would pay the full $6,500. I'm sure BB knows the UPP well, just depends on whether the buyer goes in with that knowledge or not.

Cleveland Plasma 03-27-2017 10:00 AM

^^^ Seems to me like they are on the rise in price, we will see how it plays out......

Al Leong 03-28-2017 11:45 AM

Was in my local Magnolia center and saw a W7 on display.. I commit to the "years best TV in the world" for my living room so the LG G6 is in the living room now. After seeing the W7 I couldn't commit to it.. so trusting my love for Sony's image processing coupled to OLED, I preordered an A1E to replace my G6 as the 2017 TV.

Note: the Sony rep at the store said they heard the 77" model is slated for October 2017.
