Manually enter all the settings for each dynamic range; i.e. SDR, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. The stick is only for Dolby Vision. The file on the stick is for color correction, and is intended to accompany the 2 and 20 point settings for that format.[/QUOTe. Thank you for replying.

I suspect option [3] isn't likely, because I'm running 04.71.00 - the latest FW update - and I don't recall that any of its features were really anything special to write home about, nor were any features of the preceding more minor FW updates that weren't made available through auto-update here in the US.

Any updated word on "what", "whether" or "when" with respect to that unspecified featur? "Inquiring minds" and all that...

Everything I alluded to six plus months ago is now happening and references can be found in the four links below. Of particular interest is the Cobalt Digital news release from June of this year. The below quote says it all. This is truly breakthrough stuff which allows a variety of HDR formats to co-exist with SDR signals and be transported via existing cable/sat infrastructure:

"Another advantage of using Technicolor’s technology is its ability to tone-map HDR signals into SDR signals while creating SL-HDR1 metadata that is then inserted into the SDR signal for use downstream. This capability means a network service provider only needs to transmit an SDR feed to the viewer, and if the viewer has compatible equipment (TV or set-top box), the system will automatically “rehydrate” the signal to deliver a full HDR experience."

Let the lip sync issues get really blown out. Seriously, it sounds pretty good.

Thanks for the update.

You know, I find it hard to believe that when video is processed the delay can't be accurately measured and the necessary adjustment made. Anybody got any thoughts on this ?

LG Content Store

All of the sudden I cannot connect to the content store (just a black screen) nor can I use the browser. I am able to connect to other internet apps like Amazon Prime and Google Movies. Anyone else having a similar problem? Tried unplugging the TV but that didn't help.

Question.

This is the first smart tv I've owned so I'm not familiar with the limitations of the web browser.

I was trying to watch a exhibition NHL game today that was being streamed online on the Philadelphia Flyers website. I could watch any of the recorded videos on the website, but it wouldn't play the live stream.

The live stream worked fine on my iPad.

Is this just something smart TV's won't do, playing live streams from websites?

Hi Guys,

Can someone explain the difference between Cinema home and Cinema user?. Reason for asking is that I was watching Oceans 8 via Panasonic 820 and the movie using Cinema user was way to dim and even boosting the OLED light like some do didn't really help. I used Cinema home and it looked spot on. I did change all the settings from user to match home. Any ideas?

Tone mapping differences. Cimena (Not Cinema Home) is more accurate and gives more detail but since the tone mapping is different the APL (Average Picture Level) is lower thus the display is dimmer.

The browser doesn't support many video playback codecs and a lot of websites fail to load or have errors with it. It's more basic than any phone or tablet.

When you adjust OLED light you change how the TV is doing the tone mapping for HDR content. Some people do raise the OLED light with results they find acceptable. Personally I don't. I believe HDR should be viewed in a room as dark as possible and I have a pretty good environment for that. This way the shadow detail comes out in the picture better and where people find certain tone mapping methods to produce a dim picture, I find it fine.

You'd have to decide what to do. It's your TV and your viewing. If you don't like the picture then by all means use something else or try different adjustments.

I'm having internet connectivity problems constantly. A new wireless router did not help. I was on the phone with LG support forever last week and never got to speak with upper tier support. Very bad business ops. None of my other devices have problems staying connected.

What? It's just a bit over 2 months since 4.71 isn't it? How many updates do you expect on a TV from last year at this point?

Ive been using a two channel audio system with my LG but am thinking I will add an A.V. receiver soon. I assume that if I sent dd audio into the LG via hdmi, I will NOT get dd output via the toslink output? Nor via ARC?

DD, DD+ and DTS should pass through. TrueHD should be converted to DD+ and passed through. DD+ only on ARC, toslink can't do DD+, only DD and DTS.

Thanks. That should cover me. For some reason I was thinking the LG was like so many other TVs that would pass DD etc only for internal apps, and not for external devices connected via HDMI.

20 June, 2018. Just shy of 3 months.

Still not what I'd call a "long time".

I wonder when firmware updates for the 2017 models will end (if they haven't ended already)?

The 2 settings are Cinema and Cinema Home. Cinema Home is simply brighter, similar to isf Bright and isf Dark. "User" is added to the name if you've made any changes to the default settings.

I'm still wondering about this mystical firmware we were supposed to get that was supposed to blow our minds. I forgot who mentioned it but he supposedly had some inside connections. Maybe that firmware update was a c8?

So, I'm quite afraid my B7 suddenly died this morning...I was listening to some podcast when it suddenly turned off. I tried turning it back on and all I got was these two vertical blue bars you can see on the left in the attached screenshot, then the TV would immediately turn off itself (the click sound gives it away). It's been the same ever since.

The worst part is that I don't have any warranty on this model. Did this happen to anyone else here?

Just to add to this. You don't have to create an activity based on what you're doing. If the "Watch Smart TV" choice isn't there, just make a "Watch TV" one. Most of the Harmony's controls will be based off the TV remote's controls.

If you bought it with a CC, check your benefits. A lot of cards extend the warranty for an extra year for free. Some add 2 years.

Unfortunately my situation is quite peculiar. The website I bought the TV from in Italy was closed by the police just a few days after my TV arrived, as they had evaded taxes in their effort to price aggressively. The website became inaccessible and I wasn't able to download the bill, which means I don't have any proof of purchase now.

Anyway, am I right in assuming that this problem won't go away unless I pay for a replacement panel and that would pretty much cost as much as a brand new TV?

Could need a panel replacement or it could be a board issue or something along those lines. As far as proof of purchase, was this place you purchased the TV from and actual authorized reseller? You could call LG and give them the serial number and see what they say. How long have you had it?
