Send a message via Skype™ to patoberli
Yeah that was a power cycle
To bad it didn't solve the issue.

I don't use ARC on my TV, but can you try to toggle the internal speakers and then back to ARC?

Well, this morning, without having it powered off (I left the TV In standby as usual) everything is back to the normal status. The issue is gone.

Here we go again.... Perhaps

This my third C7 panel now. First had a dead pixel. Second had horrible banding and this one looked good until the 2,000 auto comp cycle. Been approx 200 since that time and hasn't gotten any better. I have an extended warranty on this also and wondering what you guys would do. Does it look bad enough to warrant entering into lottery again?. So sick of this lottery crap and as equally sick of bars in darker content. Anyways looking for any thoughts. Thanks all.

Nobody can tell from photos what you should do. The basic answer is if you can see it during your normal viewing, you should consider an exchange or return.
Running some bias lighting will help your eyes not perceive them as badly if you are use to watching your tv in darkness. Additionally so will just turning on a light.

If it's ruin the experience, I think you should request a panel change (but the banding chance is always high). But because the numerous panel change, maybe you can ask for new TV (whole, not just panel) and get a newer model.

Your panel looks better than most, and in fact looks better than my mine. I recommend that you put away that 5% pattern and never allow it to see the light of day again. Just enjoy these fantastic TV's.

The fact is, there will never be a 7, 8, 9, etc. series panel that is free of vertical banding because the "manufacturing" process is imperfect. (An ALMOST perfect banding-free panel would cost at least a $100K because the yield would be so low.) Millions of microscopic multicolor LED's are literally "grown" like growing the lawn in the backyard. No two panels (lawns) will be the same, and some panels (lawns) will have variances; a.k.a. vertical banding - kind of like having a section of the lawn growing a little taller than the neighboring section. They don't call the tech "ORGANIC" LED just for marketing purposes. Maybe someday they will perfect the process - (unlikely as to this day they still "grow" the silicone in computer chips) - or some other tech will come along that will usurp and surpass OLED.

But until then . . .

Icon Grid Lines

I have a 55 inch B7 and have recently noticed that my unit has developed faint evenly spaced horizontal lines. There seems to be 5 of them and at first I couldn’t figure out what they were. Well today I took a closer look and they seem to line up with the top and bottom of the Apple TV icon rows when displaying the grid. The lines themselves are solid and not broken into a dotted line to match the grid, nor are there corresponding vertical lines. I wonder too if this is wear caused by the fact that when you have the Apple TV in HDR mode it displays the UI in HDR. I certainly do have a screen saver set to come on after a few mins so it is not like the grid is there for any real length of time. My set is of course out of warranty but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar and what could be done about it. I assume out of warranty repair or replace the set outright are all the options I have at this point.

Is anybody getting 5.1 sound from the YouTube app through HDMI ARC? I get 2.0 only (no issues with other apps like Netflix or Prime)

I'm not sure YouTube supports other than stereo, period!

Just this past few weeks I've been getting used to a 5.1 speaker system I installed on my PC, along with a new high-end sound card. I then wanted to find a demonstration/test media file that would simply solo test each channel/speaker individually. This is really no different from running the Windows-provided test signals for each speaker when you go through "configuration" having specified that you have a 5.1 speaker system, but I wanted a standalone demo media file that I coould use.

Well, there are a number out there for the taking, and many are available via YouTube. But surprisingly when I went to play them they were only 2-channel stereo, in seeming total contradiction to what they were described as, and presumably uploaded as. I don't know why they would then be stereo when played, or downloaded-and-then-played.

Bottom line is I went elsewhere to get my 5.1 demonstration speaker-test media file. So I'm not sure it's ARC and YouTube. I suspect it's actually YouTube.

Unless there's more to the story to explain my experience, and yours.

Just tested the app and yeah, no 5.1 only 2.0, also tested Youtube app on Xbox One X (ARC audio) same video, gives discreet 5.1 output, so maybe LG has to update APP

One year ago I bought my 55" B7 and 3400+ hours later I am still loving this TV! I swear I think it gets better everyday. And thanks to @sonoftumble for sharing his settings and others for their tips and tricks. I know most people come here because they are having problems and I feel very lucky that I have not had any problems with mine. (knock on wood). Just letting people know that there are lots of us out there who have had a great experience with our sets.

The YT app updated on the 26th, and 5.1 output (transcoded to DD/DD+) seems to have been broken then.

Best to let YT/Google know.

This isn't the right thread, but if you google <does youtube support 5.1 surround sound> and filter for posts less than a year old you will have your answer.

I’ve searched and not found it. Since you know the answer, why don’t you say it? It will take more or less the same time that your above answer

Since cathodeRay seems unable or unwilling to give a concise answer, I tested it myself.

TLDR: It's broken on my LG 55C7.

Code:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ttYSpt8oiw
is the video I tested. On the youtube app on the TV, there is no surround coming via ARC.

In the "stats for nerds" in the youtube app, it says it's playing vp9(248)/mp4a_40.2(140).

The Youtube app on my TV is version 8b27423d.

When I download the same video using youtube-dl, it has a surround track.

Code:
youtube-dl -F https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ttYSpt8oiw

I can play that video with the "Photo and Video" App on the TV and it has surround sound via ARC.

Actually I should mention that I am still on firmware 4.70.15 (pretty sure, I remember it ends in .15).

My LG C7 developed what looks like perfectly in the center of the screen shortly after the 2000 hour mark. Possibly, compensation cycle related.
Hard resets and comp cycles cannot correct it.

The problem is the left of the screen is brighter than the right side.
It can easily be seen with a green screen.

LG sent a tech and agreed to replace the panel. Let's just say, I had to insist..

The panel should be here next week.

After this experience, I decided to buy the LG 2-year extended warranty on my 77C9.

I got a bit of a scare with my LG C7 tonight...I kept getting an error message every few minutes when attempting to play a title through the C7's built-in Netflix app...this happened last night as well but I thought it was just a network issue with Netflix but the exact same thing was happening again tonight...this was the error message:

We're having trouble playing this title right now please try again later or select a different title.

looking online I read a few comments from people that doing a hard reset should fix any app issues...so I unplugged the TV for 5 minutes...plugged it back in and now everything is working fine...I'm hoping this doesn't happen again...what exactly does a hard reset do?...all my calibration and custom settings were still active after the reset...is this anything I should be worried about or is it a common glitch?

You can always uninstall and reinstall the Netflix app if problem persists. Also unplug the router as another option.

The Netflix app keeps a cache for quicker start up. Sometimes it gets a little wonky and requires it to be cleared. Unplugging the tv works because pulling the power clears the TVs memory and subsequently the Netflix app cache.

Well, there it is folks. I managed to (admittedly subtly) burn in my 65" C7. Bought it about 2 years ago, with just under 1,800 hours on it now.

I play a LOT of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). I managed to - bizarrely, burn in the the little yellow icon denoting which way my character is facing - in the lower right of the screen on the mini-map. It's subtle, only really showing itself as burn-in on green or red backgrounds, but it's there. I ran the manual hour long pixel refresher, which definitely helped a ton. I now only see it barely if I bring up a red solid wallpaper. No biggie.

I guess my PUBG days are over on my OLED. I'm guessing I spent around 1,000 hours on PUBG total, out of the 1,800 hours on the OLED, so I suppose I have nobody to blame but myself. Curiously, though, the red and yellow icons on the left of the screen donating the team I'm with (I pretty much only play duos or squads) has not burned in.

Anyway, consider this a warning to others. I still maintain it's unlikely you will burn in your OLED, but if you do play a LOT of games with yellow/red HUDs, be warned.

Now, I will resume my PUBG-ing on my 27" 144hz monitor instead. Win!

Disney WOW disk has a great "Pixel Flipper" obviously the LG will upscale and might help - maybe someone has had experience using this disc on an OLED?
