For those that are still on older firmware .09 (cam) as I was, I updated last night to .15 via stick. Nothing blew up and not sure if its just mind playing games or not, but HDR seems a bit brighter or perhaps the best way to explain is it seems more uniform if that makes any sense.

Anyways just wanted to put that out there. This version is the only one I see active on LG site. Hopefully they will drop the most recent soon.

For that type of price range you get what you pay for, I would buy local so you could return easy as there is close too "0" margin in items under $500

I am reading some mixed reviews on how the 65" C7P performs, so I figured i'd ask actual owners!

1- How does the TV perform for current console video games? X Box One S, PS4 Pro, etc...

I heard that the OLED is a bit behind a LED in terms of response time. The way the OLED lights up the panel vs a normal LED is a bit different. So while response time isn't all that different, in actuality, it affects gaming. I have found zero evidence to support this claim. But I don't want to be wrong! The TV I was comparing it too is the Sony 930E.

2- Is it true that ALL LG OLED TV's have the SAME display? That the models are just audio and physical visual changes? I read that most were. But then I see the W7P which is far more expensive than the others. Does that also have the same display?

I have a pretty stout audio setup. Not amazing, but stout. So I don't know any audio from the TV. Just want the V out of the A/V setup!

3- Is it true that the Sony OLED 4K upscaling is better than the LG's? So streaming 1080p content will look BETTER on the Sony than the LG?
I am a gamer as well. Have the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One S, PS4 Pro and Gaming PC hooked up to my LG E7 OLED and come November 7th adding in the Xbox One X. Gaming is fantastic on this set. This is my first OLED and have primarily owned Panasonic 4k LED sets and Sony LED Sets most of my life. With that said, gaming is really great on the LG. Input lag is one of the lowest compared to most of the higher end LED sets. While it does not have as high of NITS output as the Sony ZD9 and few other Sony LED's it is still bright enough and it looks pretty great. I had owned a ZD9 65" that I loved but we were moving from another state and wanted to buy a house so Best Buy agreed to take it back so I can clear that credit card. I vowed to get it again, but the LG OLED caught my eye and I am glad I made that change. The ZD9 is an incredible TV and if I ended up with it I would be as happy, but the true black on the OLED for gaming really makes colors pop.
OddyOh and Ricker62 like this.

Are lip sync issues enough to rule out a C7?

I was really looking forward to buy a 65" C7, and either an SJ7 sound bar or Sonos PlayBase. But seriously, after reading about the lip sync issues with this TV, I am seriously considering an alternative TV. Is there any reason to not rule it out? I am not a techie so don't want to be constantly adjusting things to get rid of the lip sync issues. Thanks for any advice.

Latest firmware (currently available on Korean LG support site and soon to be released in US) fixes the lip-sync issues for ARC

YouTube HDR was broken since 03.60.09 and above, stick with your firmware if you care that much with YouTube HDR, I wish LG can upload 03.51.30 ver. YouTube app only, still patiently waiting for 03.70.07 to rollout here in bayarea california, and maybe there will be a fix for it.

You don't lose the ability to stream YouTube HDR after updating but the colors are blown out with the newer firmware.

If I recall correctly the YouTube app is indeed updated to a newer version after 3.51.30. Adding to the fogginess of who is to blame is that 3rd party streamers that support YouTube HDR apparently don't have this issue. So if you want to update to a newer firmware and have YouTube HDR play properly at this time then you'll need to rely on one of those 3rd party streaming devices. This would include some UHD blu-ray players but I believe the only one with streaming capabilities and also supports Dolby Vision disks is the one from LG which I hear isn't that great.

put the receiver in standby mode and unplug for like a minute. There’s a full reset too, check the FAQs on page one of this thread

Edit: oops, thought this was the Denon forum! For your AV reset question, you should post to whatever thread represents the brand of AV you have

...for the MOST part. I still get ARC a/v sync lag from my Nintendo Switch (audio slightly later than video). Curiously, the Wii U is dead on. So it’s a little hit and miss, but you should be good with the combination once you update to the firmware manually.

I have to keep unplugging the tv to get the sound back. On the C7 there is a way to do an AV reset, that is what i am asking. How?

I've returned too many things as it is. To recap, both tv and sound bar will be placed on a computer desk in a small bedroom. Surround sound and volume not too important but sound quality, style, and size are. Would like to pay less if possible, but not if it means dropping too many rungs on the quality ladder.

1. $150. Vizio sb3621. The budget king. It's very cheap but am afraid of just getting "good enough" sound one notch above tv speakers

2. $200. Samsung hw-m450. The most popular at best buy and seems great by average consumer standards but no real technical reviews to gauge it.

3. $300. Yamaha Yas-207. Looks kind of bulky and don't like the dated look. Some reviews say it's better than the ms650 while others say it's no better than an mt300. Confused.

4. $300. Sony ht-mt300. The smallest of the bunch although I wouldn't call it the sleekest. No real definitive critical reviews either, mixed consumer reviews.

5. $390 (ebay). Samsung hw-ms650. This is the one I've been eyeing the most. Lots of praise, but Is rather bulky and has no sub. On the higher side of what I want to pay.

6. $450. LG SJ8. This along with the separate T8 stand would make a very sleek b7 combo. However, zero critical reviews on it and like the mt300, am worried of compromised sound because of how short it is. Also the most expensive.
Ty Pendlebury/cnet opined that the Vizio doesn't have the same level of immersion as the Yamaha but thinks they both sound great. I agree there are not a lot of critical reviews available on soundbars though there are no shortage of selections these days. I'm a bit skeptical of sound bars without a separate subwoofer if bass is important to you.

If my soundbar were to go kaput I would go with the Yamaha as it seems like the Goldilocks pick IMO.

Sorry, I don?t understand your question. When you say ?AV? are you talking about the sound from the TV speakers? Or are you running the TV sound through a receiver? Are you asking how to reset the TV? There?s an option the reset all the settings to original factory specs.

I?d love to help but just not understanding your setup.

I know about the factory reset. But there is also an av reset on the c7 tv for the sound. I know this as i was told down the phone a while back by an engineer how to do it on the remote but i cant remember what i have to press to get it up on the screen.

Try hitting the Mute button on the remote 3 or 4 times quickly. Should bring up the AV Reset menu options.

Netflix version ??

I'm curious, can some people post there Netflix version (within the app) in a reply?

On my 55C7 from May at Europe on firmware 03.60.09 I noticed that in the 'LG Content Store' Netflix with latest update from 26th september is showing version number 1.4.40

Now when I check the Netflix version in the Netflix app itself it is showing 1.5.19 / 4.3.5
(in the app, go to settings --> Get help --> Device)

I am watching it for awhile now, but sometimes when I just loaded the Netflix app it will show 1.0.0 / 4.3.5
I think thats a bug.

1 till 2 weeks ago the UI of Netflix changed drastictly.. autoplay preview video's when navigating
For me this started on UI Build:
UI-release-20170920_5820_7-gibbon-sapphire-darwinql

I'm curious if someone can post there in-app Netflix version and mention there LG firmware and region (Europe/America/etc.).. just for fun

Who knows some issues some people experience, are already updated for the other person.

55" B7 owner here.

Earlier this week, around Tuesday or Wednesday, I received a notification on my TV for a firmware update. Since I didn't have time to wait for the firmware to be downloaded and installed, I skipped it.

Today, I decided to finally go ahead and install it. However, upon clicking on "check for updates", none was found, and I'm still sitting on the same firmware as before: 03.60.09.

Anyone else got an OTA update? Why can't I see it anymore? I can't remember the exact firmware number, but it was certainly different than 03.60.09.

I just bought a B7 and I was adjusting the color like I normally do. I noticed a difference on my last 2 2017 LG TVs.

I run the flashing color bars video and I put on the blue filter and adjust the color until the color bars are blue.

I then adjust the tint until the tint bars are blue. I haven been doing this for years and it usually works fine.

But now after I completed the process the colors looks more greenish. In the settings I had to go all the way to Color 67 and Tint G28. That seems very far off and not what I am used to.

Does anyone know what is going wrong and how to fix it?

Thanks.

6. $450. LG SJ8. This along with the separate T8 stand would make a very sleek b7 combo. However, zero critical reviews on it and like the mt300, am worried of compromised sound because of how short it is. Also the most expensive.
I got the LG SJ9 from eBay for $499. I think it sounds great and if you can get it for that price I’d say go for it.

Thanks!

I am not a techie so don't want to be constantly adjusting things to get rid of the lip sync issues. Thanks for any advice.
I am not a massive TV snob.. the only thing that was odd about the C7 was the SOE... which once toned down everthing was great.. I have never seen any lipsync issues, grey bands, yellwo bands or anything else that could be considered a fault.

I agree completely. Getting a 720p or 1080i signal upconverted to 1080p or higher before inputting to TV yielded much better results for me as well.

I have been playing a lot of HDR games on my PS4 Pro the past few days and noticed that when running in HDR game, the details in dark areas are sometimes lost completely. One weird thing is that on this picture, the default black level of low is actually darker than on high. Anyone else notice this and have a recommendation to get a better image? I am on firmware 03.60.16 by the way.
