Pre-upgrade I just saw all this odd motion shuddering...we called it "jackrabbiting". Since the A1E was on the same wall, playing the same content, it was just awful. And it was dropping frames. I was almost ready to buy an A1E right then and there. Post upgrade the only issue I saw was that, oddly enough, the tail of the ibex seemed to disappear once in a while. It was a little weird, but you REALLY had to look close to see it. The improvement with the upgrade was huge. Maybe it was just changing the settings to TruMotion custom, DB2 DJ2. But with the Technicolor profile on the C7 looked VERY similar to the ISF calibrated A1E, and the motion was much better.
Oh yes I definitely saw issues in that scene, I played with the settings until it was decent, kept going back and forth, same with the eagle scene, the preset isn’t good at all.

I have never been a LG fan as my appliances ar LG and their support sucks. I only purchased my LG C7 because I went through Best Buy Magnolia and got their warranty which is actually better than the standard BB Geek Squad warranty. They came out talked to LG and even though LG could not see my yellow tint in the pictures the BB Geek Squad convinced them it was there. They authorized panel swap that was due today. BB calls me today and says the tech is sick and he does not have anyone that can swap the panel so they are swapping the entire TV. Now that is service. I don’t ding the other retailers on this forum, but I am fine paying more to BB for that level of service.

Update:

Seems BB Geek Squad called back and said they will have to replace the panel as Magnolia has different polices and will not swap the TV. He apologized, but I am still happy with their service.

don't worry you will not a get a dead pixel pannel or something like this

Yes, this can be done, but its not obvious. Took me a couple of days to figure it out. You can label inputs from the Inputs menu. To get to Inputs menu, press the Input button on the remote, this will bring up the input selection on screen. From there, go to the bottom of the selections and select "All Inputs". This will bring up screen for all inputs with the current input highlighted. At upper right is input label. Select the down arrow next to label, this will bring up keyboard to allow you to edit label.

I think it’s a 50-50 chance of receiving another panel which is also bent so I will save myself the hassle of returning this unit.

A double click on the mouse button will also bring you into the input screen.

You just made me think, maybe the big old bezel hides bend in screens? They are there we just can not see them due to a bezel......These are true bezel less TV's......

Regarding the tail of the ibex disappearing, I’m so glad someone else is noticing this! I see this sort of odd motion artifact frequently in a very specific setting. It occurs when small objects are moving quickly against a differently colored background. They appear to flicker, and rapidly alternate between translucent and a black outline. The most common scenario is a bird or aircraft in rapid flight viewed from a distance. I have seen this on Planet Earth 2 on UHD disc (birds flying and the ibex tail), LG 4K HDR demos via USB stick (birds), and YouTube videos such as the jetpack fliers in Dubai (perhaps the most visually obvious representation). This is with most picture enhancements and motion settings off or reduced. It is NOT the source material because I can view any of this with my windows laptop without any artifact occurring. Has anyone else noticed this?

Is is from an authorized dealer? I might if the answer to the question is "yes". Is the pricing too good to be true?

FYI, as an alternative to typing in your own label. Switching the default icon for a particular input will also change the label accordingly. For example, if you switch the HDMI 2 input icon to the home theater icon, this will also change your label to read "Home Theater"

Have you contacted support by any chance? I've started experiencing issues with HDMI ARC out now and suspect it might be firmware related. I switched Simplink (CEC) off and back on, and now I can't get ARC audio output to my AVR.

Can anybody say how to copy/paste text when in the browser? Yesterday I tried to do this and all of a sudden it worked - I was able to drag selected text from page content into the address bar. I then tried again and again, forgetting the details of what I did the first time, and failed.

I feel this way. I was very careful when removing my screen and setting it up. There's really no way I could've done better, realistically. Mine also has a bend. One bend is in the dead center of the TV at the bottom. You can tell because the panel has different separation at the bottom from the white backing. I thought maybe I screwed up my wall mounting but I don't think I did from what I've checked. The other bend is more on one corner on the top left of the screen.

They're not noticeable in content. I only notice bend due to inconsistent reflection on a black screen and when viewing the TV from the side. I don't think it's a huge deal. Other people most definitely won't notice even when looking from the side. They'll think it looks normal.

Just view your TV from the top edge all the way down to the other side and then from the bottom doing the same thing. Basically trying to see if it's completely level at the top and the bottom. I doubt most of us have a completely flat screen.

And for the $1500 I paid, I'm not going to bother. Unmounting, figuring out how to return, etc. Not worth the hassle for what I consider to be a minor issue. I haven't done a full panel test (gray banding, etc.) either because I'm 100% tired of pixel peeping at this point. If I notice something deeply off, I'll consider returning it or pursuing my warranty with LG. I'm too tired to do this pixel peeping **** for the rest of my life. I've never encountered a panel without a problem and I probably never will until I spend $40000 on that 30" Sony.

Yes, just check it's an authorized dealer. Seems to me standard 10-15% open box discount.

This is with most picture enhancements and motion settings off or reduced. It is NOT the source material because I can view any of this with my windows laptop without any artifact occurring. Has anyone else noticed this?
Also, as I mentioned, the A1E, getting the same source material at the same time did NOT exhibit the same issue. It was one minor flaw in the comparison between the two. I only noticed it because I was specifically looking for motion artifacts in that scene. The way it was before was SO BAD and it got a lot better with the new firmware.

Yeah, they had the set in the out-of-the-box "showroom mode". Which isn't a good mode for people looking for a TV....

LG Onkyo Dolby Vision error

i also started getting the same error message from my Onkyo TX-RZ820 after the latest LG firmware.
I haven't figured out how to fix it. Have you?

My lg c7 just updated itself to the latest firmware.

Now my Dolby Vision passtrough compatible Onkyo AVR gives me a message at startup stating its not compatible with this type of dolby vision tv?

It worked great before the update from this morning.
I just bought this whole setup directed at dolby vision.

Oppo 203
Apple tv 4k
Onkyo hts 9800
LG C7 65"

After spending Over 6500 euro and having it 'break 'by a little firmware update really sucks.

Who is there to blame in this case? LG or Onkyo?
And are companies quick to fix these kind of errors?

I called both LG and Onkyo here in the Netherlands but for now they blame each other but have made a "case"out of it.

I tried unplugging and factory resetting etc but it seems like the handshake signal from the LG is incompatible with the Onkyo receiver.

Someone on reddit told me there was talk about this over here but i cant seem to find a thread about it.

I believe I am sensitive to motion artifacts as I did not notice such a significant change in judder/motion on this scene with the new firmware, and I occasionally see that same strange flicker artifact in different content without even trying. It even happens to Wonder Woman’s face during the childhood combat training sequence! It is not frequent, but still, given the attention to detail in this forum on color subtleties that I can’t see at all, I would expect more people to be noticing it when they occur.
