Speaking of firmware updates, I just noticed this TV Software Update under the settings of the LG TV+ app. Is this a new feature with the latest app update?

I'm pretty sure it was there before, but this is definitely a major update to the app.

It is quite the update. I was spooked when I couldn't find the "info" button initially. I suppose I could have missed this feature in the previous version.

The other consideration is that we won't see any real world benefits to it until content providers start providing lossless sound. None of the major streaming services (Netflix etc.) have announced any plans and it's unlikely we'll see it soon. ATSC 3.0 will offer the capacity for lossless sound but it will be up to the various TV stations to implement it (testing is starting in Phoenix this spring). You could get immediate benefit from it via your OPPO but that would be it.

Depending on the complexity of your TV mounting, it really isn't that difficult to resetup your devices directly to your TV. I'd suggest you send your devices to your soundbar for now and revisit it if/when all of the above capabilities hit the market.

For your 2nd question, it would depend on the sound quality of the soundbar you're going with. The higher the quality of soundbar the more noticeable the difference will be.
Some really good points and insite. Since I currently have the HDMI cables inside the wall going from my devices to my tv, I did not want to remove the cables, just to hook them up directly to the soundbar, if I could get away with it. You are right. It's not difficult, but don't want to do something unnecessarily.

Your point in regards to loseless sound has me thinking. I can take advantage using my Oppo but I only have about 5 UHD movies in my collection. I stream (Netflix) most of the time. Since none of the major streaming services or content providers offer loseless sound, this would only benefit me if I popped in a disc, which I do once in a blue moon, correct?

You won't get lossless from Oppo immediately unless you connect to your soundbar. What I was saying is that only the Oppo would be able to immediately take advantage of eARC, everything else would have to wait for the content providers to start supporting lossless audio. One other thing I didn't mention is that your soundbar would also have to be eARC capable.

Having said that, you can manually pull local firmware updates on the OLED. Set auto updates off, and then you can manually check for updates at your convenience.

C7 red vertical lines across whole screen

I just filed a warranty claim on my C7 purchased in November.

All black areas, even in standby mode have red vertical lines about every 5mm across the entire display. Has anyone else encountered this?

Sorry, I don't have enough points to upload images or post links, but I can provide pics.

I would not go that extreme. To me content is the story, directing, acting, audio and visual. I also tend to give content that is borderline in one area more time to see if I come around. Some examples of this to me are Gravity and Interstellar where to me the stories a little flat, but the directing, visuals and sound redeem those movies and various scenes are go to scenes for me to appreciate or show of various home theater components.

The INFO button stopped doing anything for me when I'm in HDMI2, but works fine when using Live TV or one of the internal apps. My INFO button was used via Harmony and working before with HDMI2, but stopped working recently. Maybe I should try with an App as well.

It works at my house. All it does is cause the name/info badge at the top left to open.

I might type 2K for 1080p.

Does the LG TV+ app require wifi? I downloaded it on my iPhone the other day and it can't find our 65C7, which is on wired ethernet. We've never set up the wifi on the TV. Can I have wired and wifi enabled at the same time?

yes. It just needs to be on the same network. My TV is wired

I just realized you asked 2 opposite questions.

To clarify: you do not need wifi on the TV. You can have the TV wired and use the app.

WiFi on the router still needs to be turned on and your phone needs to be connected to the router via WiFi.

You could go the route my Uncle Matt did back in the 70's... two TV's side by side with a radio across the top of them. That let him root for the Sox, the Bears, and the opponents of the Cubs simultaneously. Pretty expensive solution at the time.

Are you happy with the B7 compared to the VT60?

I'm still looking at OLEDs, but I cannot seem to find a reason to pull the trigger and upgrade my calibrated 65VT60 at this time. I'm leaning more towards upgrading my AVR for Audyssey SubEQ of my dual SVS subs.
