Found the cable box here and took some pictures. You can see the specs behind, I think it should be able to handle it.

I am not sure if the difference between TrueHD and DD+ would be dramatic. Is the difference between a good MP3 and a CD dramatic? Certainly there is a difference.
That is my dilemma. It will come down to personal preference. If I REALLY want to test that difference sometime in the future, I could buy and AVR Key. Just don't think $150 is worth the step up to lossless sound, for now.

It looks like Monoprice is getting hit hard with orders for those cables because I just ordered and they're restricting them to 3 per customer. Not only that, but Monoprice's normal quick shipping has slowed with these cable orders.

Well in my case I upgrade my SR5007 AVR to an SR6012 so now I have DV support and everything (I even have eARC should my TV ever somehow support it). Of course that upgrade was not the cheapest solution, but sure is a nice and clean solution. Of course the fact my parents AVR was dying at the time meant they now have the SR5007 which works just fine for their needs (they don't have a 4k TV).

Those specs as listed should work, but I think we all seen well-specced cables fail.

Anyone you know have a similar setup to you, but working HDR/DV, that you could try their HDMI cable or you let them try yours and see if how your system responds to their known working cable or how your cable responds to their known working system?

New owner here. Picked my B7P 65" up yesterday, it's downstairs in the box still waiting for an Oppo 203 and new HDMIs to arrive, likely Friday. My rack doesn't lend itself to quick changeouts of equipment so I'm waiting for everything to get here before setting up. Plus I'll need my son to help take down the 60" Panni plasma, it's a bear. I had been looking at 65" Sonys (non OLED) but the thing that really sold me is the angle viewing on the B7. Here's a photo from the store I bought the B7 at. The two that stand out are a B7 55" on top, and the E7 65" on the bottom. Looking forward to getting things up and running!

Good to hear! I've read a little on this thread, but have you or anyone else got some good advice for the first 200 hours or so as far as break in goes? I'm thinking maybe some full screen 4K and blu ray movies and try to avoid SD tv and things like station IDs, banner running (weather channels, CNN, sports etc) on HD tv. Going to start with the cal settings listed by sonoftumble... thanks for that

Guys, recorded a video of the issue, here it is:
You can see that it barely works. WTF is happening? This is using PS4 Pro with the provided cable.

Opinions vary on that. I’m just keeping it to full screen stuff.

Is it plugged directly into the TV? What HDMI port? Do you have CEC enabled on the TV or PS4?

Does it do this with a different HDMI cord certified for HDR?

I don't have another cable to test for now, but my assumption is that the provided HDMI cable should work with the product it shipped with (in this case, the PS4). In fact I have another much bigger cable connected to the PC and presenting the same issues. Can't test the PS4 with it. I will see if I can get another cable tomorrow and test. What is this CEC thing? Don't know about it!

for anyone that wants an apple tv 4k to go with their shiny new OLEDs, there's a really good deal going on right now. for $105 you get an ATV4k and 3 months of DirecTV NOW (tv streaming service, no contract)

details / slickdeals thread:

https://slickdeals.net/f/11252715-di...ibers-only?v=1

also if you're a bank of america customer they have a cash back deal $35 back if you use a linked account to buy DirecTV NOW service

and go through a cash back portal (e bates, mr rebates, TCB, etc) for even more back

example:

$105
-35 bank of america
-20 mr rebates
= $50 for an apple tv 4k and 3 months streaming tv service

helluva deal even without the extra cash back options, considering atv4k by itself is normally $180

No Superbowl this year. But maybe next year! @charlesrshell is right about the Olympics in 4K HDR. 1) You can definitely tell that they are using 4K cameras, and 2) HLG uses the same HDR-10 picture mode ( in my case, technicolor Expert ) and it is PHENOMENAL! Sadly I will miss Olympics in 4K HDR w/ Atmos since I've cut cord and don't plan on going back just for the two weeks of Olympics.

The 4K HDR coverage isn't live though, they're on 24-hr delay. I don't think the Super Bowl is available to view at all in 4K HDR.

Hopefully these guys know what they're doing

I'm envisioning a hacked together replacement panel without fixing the issue in my future.

Really hoping to see some footage of Chloe Kim and Shawn White's halfpipe runs in 4K HDR.

So update on my issue. Changed the PS4 Pro's cable from HDMI 2 to HDMI 4 port and issue seem to be gone. Played half an hour without artifacts, and no signs of TV turning black or anything. This makes me think that something might have happened to the 3 HDMI side ports, as the PC is connected to those same ports and presenting weird behavior. Will have to further investigate, but I should probably use the warranty as I don't want to stick with a defective unit.
