Thinking of getting yamaha 207 as a temporary solution until atmos soundbars come down in price or biting the bullet (doubtful) and getting something like the Bose soundtouch 300. Either way, these soundbars are 2.4 and 2.2 inches respectively. Is it a valid concern to think that these soundbars could block a portion of the screen?
Thanks for any feedback and any other advice you guys may have. Been battling what to do for sound in terms of going with stock temporarily, yamaha 207 for $299 for a while or long-term Bose 300 for $699 (ouch!). Using the soundbar for music as well (bluetooth/hooking up with Alexa).
We have the LG SJ8 soundbar - and it's sized just right. It's the same width as our 55B7P. More importantly, it has an especially thin vertical profile (just under 1 1/2" high - or 2" high with its optional feet) so that even with the optional feet, its top comes to just a hair under the bottom edge of our 55B7P, with the 55B7P on its stand. Consequently, there's no need to have to raise up the TV to prevent the soundbar from blocking the bottom of the screen (which I believe is your concern with respect to the taller soundbars you mention).
BTW, there's also an optional LG Sound Bar Bracket Stand (Model "T8") that can be used to replace the stock stand of 55" and 65" LG OLEDs by physically attaching both the TV and the SJ8 to the T8 so that it (the T8) and the SJ8 then serve as the TV's stand.)
Soundwise, we're very pleased with the SJ8. It's a huge improvement over the TV's internal speakers. 300 watts including a 170 watt powered wireless subwoofer. One caution - the SJ8 is only a 4.1 soundbar. So if you really want 5.1, 7.1 and/or ATMOS, it probably won't do - but then frankly, I doubt one really gets materially more of a true 5.1, 7.1 or ATMOS effect from just a soundbar anyhow...
In addition to using our SJ8 with the 55B7P, we use it with our Google Home Mini Smart Speaker for music - I believe one could do the same with an Amazon Alexa and the SJ8...
