Yeah on windows you have to jump through hoops to get it to work right and sometimes it still doesn’t.

Hey guys just wanted to share my recent experience with LG and their manufactures warranty. I bought my 65c7p in June of last year from Frys and had been enjoying this amazing TV every since. However about a month ago I turned the TV on one day and the left half of my screen was a shade darker then the right. After trying everything under the sun I finally called LG for support, 2 weeks later I had a tech at my house and they decided the screen needed to be replaced, another 2 weeks later I get a call from LG and the parts are on backorder so they authorized a return back to Frys and now I'm the proud owner of a brand new 65c8!

Got to say good job to LG for actually taking care of one of their customers!

Other thoughts: The 65c8 seems to be a bit brighter, faster, and does a much better job in 4K HDR gaming (much brighter and more pop). The stand is better too IMO and the back is now dark grey instead of white.

Thanks for sharing. Hope no one else needs to go through that, but glad your outcome was happy.

Interesting that Fry's was involved at all. I would think the retailer would be out of the loop on any warranty issue.

Great update, plasmaowner.

I can't believe you got upgraded to a 2018 C8. LG is really come through on the warranty claims lately. It may inspire others to call LG support again.

It's not up to Sony or Apple to make sure that streaming services have the right files available to play back. LG already supports Profile 4 since it has been working for a long time and if there is an update it won't break anything, it will just add support for the new profile. It will be up to Vudu to maintain their library.

That's how it seems to me.
I hope so. My concern is profile 5 will replace profile 4 instead of both being able to work on the lg with a new firmware update. If that were to happen, most of my vudu profile 4 dv titles would be broken until they re-encode.

I dont like the itunes restrictions to 1080p or having to use an app instead of standalone browser to view movies on my pc. Pretty sure i cant watch them on my android. Vudu has no such restrictions. That having been said, i like the appletv 4k, only apple product i use. Ive used macs, iphones, ipads in the past, not a fan. Once the lg firmware fix for dv over hdmi is released and vudu gets its library re-encoded for profile 5 dv and works out the bugs, ill solely use the appletv4k for streaming. I dont care about atmos. If they add 4k hdr support for youtube, it's truly gg.

I have the new comcast 4k box. Set to output [email protected] Hdmi deep color on. If you view tv info on lg remote, it shows bt.2020, not rec.709. Same as directtv 4k i believe.

Have encountered a strange issue, appears to be a comcast problem. I primarily see it watching hbo in hd. If you watch a face and the scene transitions, before the face disappears, for a split second but totally noticeable...it goes from pink fleshtone to a light blue. Looks really weird. Sometimes panning shots show a pink / slight blue outline on faces. Using real cinema but have tried 0,0, 0, 10, 2, 0 and others. Doesnt help. 60hz news content doesnt have the issue, just movies. If i watch the same show e.g. westworld streaming on hbogo using identical lg video settings, there is 0 issue.

Im wondering if this is a comcast flaw 1) seeing the 3:2 pulldown to 60hz on hbo movies? 2) bt.2020 issue 3) comcast sucks?

I turned off hdmi deep color but it's still outputting bt.2020, maybe i need to power down box and tv? Or maybe this setting has no effect? I dont remember this issue with my old x1 1080p box.

It may be obvious but make sure the hdmi cable is connected to the HDMI2 ARC on the TV. Check that the TV Sound Out is set to HDMI ARC. Finally turn off and unplug both devices from the electrical outlet for 30 seconds. Plug both back in and turn on the TV. It should turn on the AVR (if CEC is active), and ARC should now be working.

Great report! We also had a warranty claim on our 4-month-old 65C7P. Called LG on a Sunday. The TV was repaired (replaced main board) on Tuesday.

Thanks for the reply! I just gave this a try, but the audio lag is still present. Any other suggestions? Thanks again!

Also, if anyone has any thoughts on the remote randomly changing functionality, they would be much appreciated.

Switch the audio source to stereo. I fixed the issue of lip sync with my sky q box.

Not me... I paid $450 last month to have Chad B calibrate my 65 B7... and here's to never having to need a warranty claim! So far so good after 600 hours.

DieHard 4K last night looked great. The PQ difference was decent over the 1080p... but what really stood out was the HDR. Blood was RED... and the twinkies on the rack in the convenience store... I can go on and on.

Colors popped!

LOL, and if I had to do it over again, I would have paid for a calibration. Instead, I went the much more costly and tedious route of doing it myself. I'm equally happy with the results, but it didn't come easy. I haven't watch Die Hard yet, but I have it and the rest of this months' amazing UHD discs in hand or on order. The Matrix is what I'm most excited about - especially after reading the Digital Bits review.

As for warranty claims, they are usually slow and awful, but they do work out well sometimes like in the case of @plasmaowner

The reason that Apple uses DV profile 5 is because they had no choice. Things are changing in the DV landscape. The profile 4 bitstream distributed after December 31, 2017 may not produce high dynamic range DV video signals on all DV devices. Profile 5 is all about forward compatibility and improved picture quality. DV profile 5 reshapes the EOTF so that it follows a 2.2 gamma curve - making luminance behaviors more natural - and has better color primaries and full range color. This is due to the fact that there is no SDR/HDR-10/HLG fallback layering in the stream which leaves room for more picture data while also reducing the bit rate by 25%. Apple now has three different streams available for any given title; i.e. SDR/HDR/DV. It's a little more work on Apple's part, but it ensures that displays with lesser playback capabilities can still receive an optimized signal.

In short, Apple is ahead of the curve on this, and Vudu needed to do this anyway . . . . if they want to remain relevant. Also, profile 7 is just around the corner.

Tried it all, even a factory reset. Nothing worked.

I had to use Optical. Not as seamless, but at least things work.

It can handle 18Gb HDR/DV signals, so you are future proofed on the 4K side of things. I now have a simultaneous feed going to the TV and AVR - and no more lag. It's also nice and small. About the size of a pack of Shermans.
Good suggestion, but $200? Yikes!

Yeah it's a busy month with DieHard, Braveheart, Gladiator, Black Panther... Jurrassic Park box set... Patriot... Fury... Matrix... and there's more next month with the latest Terminator as well as Darkest Hour and Forrest Gump.

I've bought them all. The girlfriend told me I needed to slow down on movies... but I'm like "What's your favorite show? Game of Thrones? Well... season 1 releases on June 5th... do you want it?"

She said yes.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... I didn't buy OLED to watch Comcast. (It does look pretty good though post calibration LOL)

True, but its cheaper than replacing a perfectly good AVR whose only drawback is that it won’t pass a DV signal but is Atmos capable.

Hold the phone. They're remastering GoT's seasons?

Have you called LG? If they can't figure it out, they may give you 2018 replacement. I am curious, if they would do it for a non-panel issue.

From what I've read the 1st season that is due to release June 5th is a 4K upscale... haven't done a lot of research into it though. I just read an Amazon review from someone who may be wrong.

Does the B7/C7 support 1440p @ 120hz (such as output from a PC)?
