For the C8 the default oled-light for DV is also 50. Increasing it will just mess up the tone mapping but it will not increase the peak brightness.

On the C9 I briefly owned the default DV oled light was at 100.

@jk82 and @Cam1977 are correct: the default [OLED Light] value is "50" on 2018 LG OLEDs; and "100" on 2019 models.

BURN IN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plz Before Buying

Hi, I have been told that Burn-in issue has been only in the past (2017). Newest LG TV doesn't have this problem. is that correct? Has LG fixed the burn in permanently? Does LG gives full guarantee and warranty against burn in?
Is there a specific model that will never have Burn-In whatever you use!

Plz, My choice of buying depends on your comments and recommendations. If you're not sure plz don't reply!

No, not correct. With enough hours watching CNN even the 2019 WOLEDs can develope burn-in.

Quote:

No, they have merely made it much harder to develop burn-in (impacting a smaller and smaller subset of the Premium TV-buying public).

Quote:

No, LG's warranty specifically excludes burn-in (though they have been pretty goid about making effected customers whole through panel replacement, even if they have no obligation to do so).

Quote:

No.

2019 WOLEDs have better burn-in protection/mitigation than 2018 WOLEDs, which are better than 2017 WOLEDs, which are much better than 2016 WOLEDs which had no burn-in peotection/mitigation whatsoever...

I am certain that if you want to buy a TV guaranteed not to develop burn-in 'whatever you use' (meaning whatever you watch, including CNN for 10,000 hours), you should purchase an LED/LCD rather than a WOLED.

For the 99.99% of us who watch varied content and don't purchase a premium TV to watch thousands upon thousands of hours of tecsame news channel, burn-in is no longer a real-world concern, as you can see here:

If you are really worried about it, don't do it. It will just keep you up at night. I have had mine for like a year and a half, no problems that I know of. I dont baby it, I just watch it like I have every other TV I have had.

Update, tech came back last night and replaced the panel under LG warranty even though it was out of warranty. I have a ton of LG devices, and the fact that they replaced my panel, LG TVs for me for probably the rest of my life.

I'm moving and have been doing TV research, also picked up a clearance 65" C8 OLED from walmart for $699 (OMG) last week.

During this process, I realized that my 55" B6 OLED (October 2016 purchase) has quite bad burn in primarily on red/orange screens, and the worst offender is the Youtube app logo in the top left and button from the app in the bottom right. I baby my TV's and have used all optional safety options, settings aren't crazy, etc. There is even permanent burn in from 4 player split screen of Farm Together -- which I just downloaded in like April or May of this year....Crazy...Also, Rocket League burn in.

I started a case with LG today, hoping they come through. This would give me pause on paying $1,500+ for another OLED, but you know I'm keeping that 65" C8 I'm moving and not opening it for a few more weeks, hoping there is no damage.

Had the same BI from the YouTube app, only I just had the yellow rectangle in the lower right corner. Didn't get the any BI from the red YouTube logo.

Was your C8 a floor model, or an open box, or was it brand new?

I have the same TV and had screen replaced back in March.
I had very bad experience with local shop LG pointed me to and after a month maybe longer I requested LG certified technician to come out instead and a few days later I had panel replaced. I also had panel shipped to my home figuring I would take care of it better than the technician would plus making technician's job a little easier. The panel is from 2017 series. I see some uneven grey stuff but nothing when the picture is on so I'm very happy.
P.S. My tv was still under warranty when I initiated the repair process

The C8 was brand new for $699 - 65".

Saw a thread on slickdeals last week with a brickseek link and it looks like they ranged anywhere from $699 - $1,399 on clearance, but most stores not having any.

YouTube app for me as well. Twice now! Second panel I had oled light at 0 and contrast at 10 along with color at 30. None of this seems to dim that damn YouTube logo. The yellow search button on the bottom right is another bad offender as well! I suggested to LG to change up their YouTube app. Now I just use YouTube on my PlayStation 4 and use the zoom function to omit the logo. Unfortunately I cannot get another panel replacement as they will only replace panels up to two years. Change the damn YouTube app LG!!!

What do you mean by up to two years? Do you mean two years out of warranty?

My warranty is five years through the place that I purchased the TV. LG will replace the panel up to two years from purchase date. I’m not sure if that even requires a warranty but find out.

LG replaced my panel and it was more than 2yrs after purchase date. Purchase date was November 2016. Was out of warranty. I had SquareTrade warranty, but never came up. It doesn't cover BI, anyway.

Damn! I’m just past my two years and they rejected me for another panel replacement. I just bought a C8 because of the logo luminance option. I’m going to push back on that panel replacement. Not to mention I have some kind of weird grid looking thing after doing a pixel refresh.

I have an LG B7A that got burn-in 3 to 4 months after warranty. Bought in December 2017. Shipped to my house in January 2018. Burn-in happened in May or June 2019. August 2019 (Second time with LG). first time I gave up cause they said they couldn't do anything because my warranty was up. Last month I did some more research and found that someone went through LG twitter to get their stuff done. I tried it myself and finally got LG to send in a service request this time only free since my warranty is up. Awesome!!. After 4 days of no one calling, I called them and asked about the repair service. They put be on hold for a while. Told me that my request got denied and will be putting in another request. Denied again... and a 3rd time. They sent it over to returns department to get a refund. Told me again to wait 3 to 5 days. Called on the 4th day to see what the status is. They closed it since my warranty is up that they cannot give me a refund or replace it.

I came across a youtube video from Quantum TV about certain laws different countries or states have and that to research them and see what they have. I found a California Law Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act. Section 1793.03. I emailed the CEO and Manager Executive Service from LG with my complaint and the California Law. An hour later the Manager Executive (From AL just like the LG Repair Services) called me up and told me that she got my claim approved to go to the returns department and told me that I will get a refund for my TV. She will email me tomorrow with more information about it.

Check your state laws for warranties. the lemon laws also go for electronics. I fought, I won!. Never give up!.

They are giving me a 1-time replacement panel, so I'm happy with the outcome.

Their message also indicated that I should run the pixel refresh daily if there is any static images for greater than 1 hour.

Interesting. Any idea what caused the grid pattern?

I’m assuming it is pixel refresh related because it wasn’t there before.

YouTube and playing Fifa where the cause. Never use that YouTube app from your TV or console. Always use YouTube casting from your phone and turn all HUDS off from Fifa. Hopefully within 3 years Microled becomes mainstream. But until than I'm going to keep my OLED C7.

Spoke with LG support/VIP Care at 855-400-4640. They have also agreed to a one time courtesy replacement of the panel on my 65B6 once I email pics of the burn in and a copy of the receipt/proof of purchase.
My B6 is right around 3 years old and I noticed burn in from ABC news, which my girlfriend feels the need to watch 2-3 hours a day. But beyond that I have burn in from the youtube app (which I use maybe an hour a day at most) in the upper left hand corner. This burn in can usually only be seen on a red/orange/yellow screen. Kudos to LG for taking care of me, I just hope the newer models don't become as susceptible after only a few years.

I read new posts here everyday, and I find it interesting most of the Burn-In problems are LG's, and not Sony's. Kudos to LG for taking care of their customers, too.

I bought a Sony A1E last year, and it's been flawless so far.

Because LG sells most of the OLED's. They are much cheaper than what Sony is asking.
