Considering buying a display with noticable burn in. How soon can I contact LG for screen replacement under warranty?
Can I contact LG right away while still within return window (14 or 30 days, not sure) or should I wait for 11 months or so?

Has anybody tried contacting LG right away while still within the return period?

Thanks

Can anyone reply to my post above?
When is not too soon to contact LG for burn-in issue?
I don't know if I want to take a chance and wait a few months as LG may change their stand on it.

Thanks

There is no such thing as “too soon”.

Jsut call them when you have the TV in your possession. It’s that simple if they deny your claim return the TV (if you can).

I believe most companies will advise you to go back to the store to return/exchange if you are within the return period.
I'll try after 14 days maybe

It’s not fraud at all. LG has been replacing panels. If you bought one sight unseen it would be the same thing. They could always deny the request anytime they wanted to.

I don't understand the question

if you have a burn in after you had your TV for one month or two months or 3 months does LG get suspicious?
Their commercial warranty can be 3 months

No one but LG could answer that. All we can do here is tell you what others have done or what we would do.

And that's what I've been asking if anyone has done precisely that - contacted LG shortly after purchase and whether it was a success or not.
I would assume chances are much greater if I contact them 6 to 9 months from now but I'm afraid they may change their stand on this issue

And as I’ve said, there is no harm in contacting them right away. I’ve seen posts on Reddit that have done exactly that. Folks here however would probably err on the side of caution and just buy a new set. A known is always better than an unknown. You’re not going to get useable concrete answers in regards to your question as policies can change on a whim and where others succeeded you may fail. You know the risks, be prepared to take the loss and “eat” the purchase if you do attempt this.

What ever you do don't wait past the stores return period. LG 2018 and newer sets have BI warnings and advise in the owners manuals. So the same grace that LG gave to pre-2018 model owners might not be available on newer year models.

I do believe they had warnings with 2016 models maybe it wasn't as strong or worded differently. (I have not read the manual yet )

But anyway good point I will have to decide what to do if they refuse. BI is not too bad but it is there and I can see it watching YouTube videos

Do you have link or photo of it? I can't find it in mine, but maybe because it's from 2017. Fortunately after almost 2 years still nothing. 20% gaming and 70% movies, 10% or less TV.

Thanks! Even it's "not under warranty" they change the panels. And for more here in EU, they change panel with only one pixel error.

You can see it in the attached image. Nevermind the noom.com ad in the middle of the screen, that just happened to be a commercial on the screen when I noticed it was looking particularly awful due to the mostly pink background on the image. This burn in is most definitely visible while watching normal content.

Is there any way to get LG to do anything about this? I know the TV is past the warranty period, but this level of burn in is just atrocious. It would seriously put me off from ever purchasing another OLED screen in the future.
LG replaced my panel today free of charge. Nice to have a screen again that doesn't have massive burn in.

That's the screen only. I actually had two screens replaced for burn-in, and all they do is replace the screen. The settings both times remained as they were.

i wonder if best buy does this as well, or do they just replace it with a new tv.

I'm really not sure about Best Buy. I got mine both times through LG. And, surprisingly, it all got started through LG's Twitter account.

Two screens on the same OLED, or two separate OLEDs?

Not sure if this was clear, but I was asking if you got two separate replacements for BI on the same TV or two separate TVs?
