I registered, but it's odd that there was no indication or confirmation of any promotion. I called [email protected] and even he wasn't sure about it and indicated LG had given dealers no definitive information on this. The W is definitely part of this program, but the G seemed to be unconfirmed.

So I got the courage to do a 5% and it's pretty much as I thought. Very light banding, but with actual content, it's almost impossible to see. I've seen evidence of it only once or twice. Actually a bit of reverse vignetting is more visible, but again, very very rarely.

Edit: I should add that I haven't yet run the display for 4 hours straight, so I don't even know if I've had one compensation cycle yet.

Never found an OLED (after going through 7) where such anomalies on slides don't show up in content. They took me out of the experience of Game of Thrones last night on my 77" G6.

A little too bright for me to tell, but that looks like a lottery winner, Ken.

I think so too. The only thing I can see are several thin, light bands, that are almost never there in content.

That looks great for out-the-box.. you won't see anything in content playback.. Signature.. it's worth the investment!

I'd like to actually hook up my Amazon Echo dot to the soundbar...

Does anybody know if you can play music on the soundbar without turning on the TV?

had to re-download season 1-5 with audio at 48000 Hz 6 channel and it's fine to play that. season 6 already included the correct audio the TV liked. Odd that it can't de-code the TrueHD ATMOS 7.1 with 8 channel

Firmware version 03.60.15 has been released, I'm going to do the update manually as the TV is not doing the auto update over the network for some reason even though I have auto checked off.
Also does any1 have or know where we can look at the change log?

CA.lgtvsdp.com
<- update server?
ca.rdx2.lgtvsdp.com <- update server?
CA.info.lgsmartad.com <- Ads?

I also noticed the TV keeps connecting to the following;

Will an owner please comment on screen reflectivity? I've got a room with rear windows that I see clearly in the picture on my Sony XBR79. Almost unwatchable on a bright day.

JVC RS600 Chad-callibrated, 120" 1.3g in Batcave HT, Denon X8500 Polk LSiM703 fronts,
RTi-12 rears, LSiM 706 center, Monitor 40 Heights, Monitor 60 FW, FXiA4 Bi-pole sides,
LSiC CH, Infinity 6" VOG. 4X 12" subs w/mini DSP on sub 1 and nearfield 18" from sub 2.

Seriously? That fixed the audio issue? I thought it was my speakers, so I bought some better speakers for the FL, C, and FR. They haven't come in yet, but I thought the crackling and pop (sounds like speaker chafing).

I'm not using my soundbar for the audio. I'm using in-ceiling speakers and have the audio/video running through a matrix. As a matter of fact, my soundbar is hidden inside the wall behind my screen, which is mounted on a brick wall. Everyone who has been to my house since it was setup has been amazed by. First of all, no one has even heard about this TV before, and the way it's setup, all that's visible is the screen attached to the brick wall. No cables and no soundbar are seen, which makes the TV look recessed, but since it's a brick wall, no one can figure it out until I show them how it's installed.

faults happiness, lol, the crackling is still there, dam I really thought they finally got ride of it in the newest fw version.

Yes it's a known issue with all LG TV's, I've experienced this on the 16 models too, programmers really need to fix it.

it will reflect, I need to close the curtains when watching. Any shinny surface will be worse then a dull one. I remember i tried a Panasonic Plasma back in 2007 that was amazing with no reflection, but opt for the Pioneer. I'm not sure why manufactures go with a shinny surface, makes reflections bad.

I'm going to post my calibration settings soon as I get some time. I know each TV is a little different but at least it will give you guys a good starting point, or almost be right on the money.

Yes it was, but I didn't want the soundbar to be seen since I'm not using the speakers in it. I called LG and all their authorized parts distributors trying to find another extension like the one it came with, but no one sells this cable by itself. Even the tech support guy at LG Sent me a schematic of the TV, which listed every single part of the TV but the cable wasn't even listed as an option. So, the soundbar is mounted to the inside of the wall.

Nice setup but you may want to rethink your choice in TV programming given the recent burn-in examples posted on the forum from news stations. At the very least, maybe zoom and pan those bright static elements via all-direction-zoom so they're not always visible. Would hate to see this expensive TV ruined prematurely.

I hope LG is listening to the posters on their site objecting to the components in a mandatory soundbar. I'd be purchasing this TV, but I'll wait until 2018 models come out to see if I can get it without the soundbar. It's a dealbreaker for me.

^^^ The sound bar is where the brains are for the TV, there will always be a separate box or something for the brains, power supply, cable hookups, ect ect........

A small sleek one connect like box with a longer more durable non ribbon cord would be great. The W7 or 8 would be a real winner.

Absolutely. Can't put all those electronics in "wallpaper". I'd like something like my one-connect box which I can bury in a cabinet and keep the bundles of cables off the top of the cabinet below my TV. Still have to have a place for the Blu-ray and receiver, so a cabinet is still in the cards. Ribbon or wire, all the same to me. If one is doing separate speakers, putting a cabinet under the TV doesn't mess up the aesthetics too much. I suppose if I valued form over function and was looking for a spread in a "decorator" magazine, I'd want the wallpaper TV, a built-in sound bar as in the video and a wall hanging vertical B&O blu-ray player. But, I don't so I'll be waiting for a one connect-type box sans speakers. But, I'd really appreciate it if it were a little thicker and had the Sony-type screen speakers with an external 8 ohm analog input, so I could use it as the center speaker!

So he's not allowed to watch CNBC because it might burn in? What's the point in buying a TV if he can't watch the channels he wants?
