Yeah loving filmic box, great 4K movie clips especially captain America scenes. Any thoughts if the native YouTube app will get hdr.

Also I did update the YouTube app to the latest version, should I not have. Just didn’t know if the latest version broke anything.

Xbox 1X is great with old DVD's as long as you have a harmony remote - as mentioned there is no DV, but then again the tv did not have it and was not badly missing it with the way Sony does dynamic HDR10. DVD's and blurays don't have Dolby vision anyways.
I haven't played any UHD movies on that yet as I've moved mostly away from physical media but still have hundreds of DVDs and Blurays I like to play.

Not really worried about BI, but I am leaving the dynamic light adjustment on for the time as I found it more pleasant with the tv adjusting brightness for TV watching in a bright room vs for the evening. Also most gaming I do is in less light so it helps with automatically adjusting brightness down.

why? you can also use different remotes, as this one; I have it and it's amazing, it also have backlight that automatically turns up when you move it (thanks to an integrated accelerometer).

Sony will release a firmware update in order to support Dolby Vision by the end of January. However, Xbox One X will support HDR10+ and in the recent past Xbox managers said that "if DV will be a key feature for users, Microsoft will consider it".

If you mean DVD and standard Blu-Ray is right, but several UHD Blu-Ray already support DV.

I played several UHD movies on Blu-Ray and they look stunning. 4K media files doesn't work very well for now instead.

Update brightens screen significantly. New name for x-tended dynamic range-peak luminance. Even with this off screen is bright.

Updated this morning and Dolby Vision is not coming through Apple TV 4k. I'm still getting the standard HDR on DV titles.

Same here. DV works fine on native apps (Netflix) but my ATV4K is not recognizing DV

I haven't looked at my Apple TV settings since the last OS update but I just checked it now and there is no longer a 4K Dolby Vision option. There is only 4k HDR, SDR etc. There was an option to choose DV as the output. I keep it set the 4K SDR with Matching Contrast and Frame Rate on. I figured I'd try and force it with the menu option but it's gone.

Recalibration needed

Guys, is Dolby Vision the primary reason for the update? Any other changes, improvements from the update?

Will the increased brightness throw off one's professional SDR calibration? Is the brightness only affected when in Sony's HDR mode?

For Apple TV 4K to run Dolby Vision, doesn't the ATV need to support DV? My understanding is that ATV does not yet support it.

Oh, that's right. I was mistaking it with Atmos. They said it would need an update to support Dolby Atmos.

Do you use ATV 4K? If so can you check the video settings and see if 4K Dolby Vision is still an option in the Video Output settings. I know it was as I saw it on mine but I never bothered to check again since the last ATV OS update (Around 2 weeks ago) because the Sony A1E didn't support it and I use 4K SDR as my setting with matching DR and FR set to on. When I checked this morning the 4K Dolby Vision output option is no longer there. Thanks

For those who are local and interested, i'm going over to Value Electronics right now to load up an A1E with the new Dolby Vision update to see how it looks with an Oppo DV disk and to compare it to a 2017 LG. I'll report back here later

Did anyone try on the Apple TV: Video -> Reset Video Settings or resting the Apple TV to see if the apple TV can switch to Dolby Vision?

Also on the TV under the Advanced Settings -> Video Option ( HDR Mode, HDMI Video Range, Color Space ) changed ? Can you change HDR mode? or see if we have any new options?

Thanks

Second issue is minor, but I'm trying to use the HDMI 3 input for my FIOS box, but when I click the TV button on the sony remote, it takes me to hdmi 1
- any fix to that?
- does it matter if I have the FIOS box attached to HDMI 3 vs. HDMI 1?

There is a fix. Somewhere in Settings you can set the default input for the TV button. I can't remember where but will try and look when I get home.

Thanks,

Dan
