Yes, but the article was in 2016...so the 8K TV, in the link before, will work right now. In reality I doubt if any but the very rich over there will actually buy one...but give it a short time...

How can you tell if you are playing a movie on the Apple TV in 4K or Dolby vision, is there a setting somewhere that shows it when the movie is actually playing.

I rented the Martian and I thought it was suppose to be in 4K hdr but looks horrible

Yup just did the beta and I see Dolby vision now. I was just trying to figure out if there is a way to tell on the Apple TV that it’s definitely streaming in 4k

How frequently will it dim? Like five times a minute or more often?

I cannot install it right now since i'm still at work for several hours, I wonder if we finally got the dolby vision update as well.

Yep, I'm from Italy and I can confirm that it's the long waited DV firmware update. But it will work just with the internal apps for the moment, a new update scheduled in April will add the DV support for the external sources, via HDMI, as the US units.

It's the same update as in US so Apple TV 4K (11.3 beta) should work in Dolby Vision mode aswell.
SONY is very vague in the description on the site but it's more or less the same description as in US.

My "translation" from SONY-ish to more understandable language:
We get the Dolby Vision (rolled in April but you can download and install it manually now) for the inbuilt applications.
We get the Dolby Vision for HDMI connected devices after those devices are updated with the new DV profile (only Apple so far).

For me it gradually dims over a 5 minute period. The first minute or two it's small enough that you may think you are imagining it. After two minutes though it really ramps up as far as the picture losing brightness and contrast to the point that there is no mistaken it. Naturally if the show, movie, etc you are watching doesn't stay on the same scene for long you probably won't notice it. The dimming issue is most noticeable for me when watching something like basketball. It starts to look like the lights in the gym/arena have been dimmed.

I’ve never seen this on any of my A1Es. Please list all settings you are using when this happens.

Yep, you get a prolonged Dolby logo, and then the Action Menu will tell you that you are in DV mode.

I installed the latest update for the US market last night and at least for me the Amazon internal app is performing much, much better. No stuttering and the ramp up to Ultra HD was very quick.

Is Color Temperature set to Expert1? Because there was a bug (or it was intentional for some strange reason) that set it to other setting (Neutral) during update.
Also default Dolby Vision profile has Smooth Gradation set to off, I immediately switched it to Low.
