Updating now... Thank you for the feedback.

I have another question. I am watching my bandwidth on my Sony which is connected via Ethernet and it is knocking on 98Mbps occasionally. This made we wonder if I should put it on wifi.

How are you guys connecting your Sonys?
1. Ethernet
2. Wifi
Thanks
Dan

Ethernet as I use the RVU; however, I would suspect no issues with WiFi as I have a gigabit router and get over 300 Mbps regularly.

That begs the question, what card is in the set? 100 Mbps?

Quite a noticeable difference? That’s good to know. Just on the Netflix app?

Yes, had the opportunity to test Netflix only. I use extended luminance low. DV used to be unwatchable in daytime. Now really good. Much better tone mapping.

Interesting I use Apple TV4K for Netflix might revert back if it’s improved that much. Thanks for the heads up.

Great, I use XBOXONEX. Will be testing that + oppo udp 203 later. Like I said I set the extended luminance to low to save the oled panel and the difference is really noticeable with that.

Ok, so it wasn’t just me. If I try to watch anything in DV during the day, I have to close all curtains and turn off lights. Sometimes even then it is too dark to discern some things making me dislike DV. I’m glad to hear this update improves this! Will be updating ASAP. Is this improvement in the update notes? It seems to only mention fixing a wifi issue?

I have a 65A1 When playing stuff using built-in NETFLIX app. 5.1 audio ”crackles and pops” or sometimes even drops out completely when played back via ARC to my Sony st5000 soundbar. If selecting the ”non 5.1 audio track” it doesn’t do that. Or using ATV4K from TV then ARC to soundbar it also works.
Anyone else have this issue? Any settings I need to check?

Do you have the A1E set to output DD or DD+ on ARC?

Is the firmware on the ST5000 up to date?

I know my old AVR didn't handle DD+ so whenever netflix had atmos, it would use DD+ and the sound went terribly messed up. Setting it to DD instead made it happy. With my new AVR there is no problem and DD+ is fine so I leave it on auto now as far as I remember. So perhaps you have out of date firmware that doesn't handle DD+ properly. Of course could also be a flacky HDMI cable that is having issues with slightly higher bandwidth audio.

Pretty sure the ATV would never send DD+ to the TV, so the signal bandwidth would be a bit lower and wouldn't have any chance of DD+ compatibility issues.

Ugh. Just got the update today. The audio issue switching back to TV speakers is not really working as it should (which seems to be the reason for the original Oreo update being pulled) - Trouble seems to be that Sony really wants you to use BraviaSync to turn on/off the receiver.... but I have a Harmony remote, and I don't see any way to set up an activity and not have it control power for the receiver. I now have the TV turning on, waiting 2 seconds, then turning on the reciver, and changing to the correct input. We'll see if it is consistent. Otherwise, this is going to get old real quick.

So I have a problem that is somewhat related, I guess. This goes back months and months now and I know it used to get talked about ad nauseam but I never really understood if this issue was fixed with past updates. I guess it hasn't since I still have the problem.
In short, unless I turn ARC or eARC off, my receiver (Sony STRZA2100ES) will get powered on, seemingly by itself at random times. It was most noticeable at night when I would power everything off and in 3 or 4 minutes, the receiver would power up again. Countless times I would wake up in the morning and discover that the AVR had turned on at some point during the night.
I have to assume that it is the TV's ARC functionality as the only fix I can find is to turn the feature off. I have tried all other combos (e.g. Bravia synch, CEC etc....) but to no avail. It's kind of a bummer since I do like using the internal apps now and then and having to go to menu before and after every use is a bit annoying.

Anyone else still experience ARC issues or have any fixes that I am not thinking of?

Thanks,

Dan

I can't get wifi working properly since the latest update which causes problems with the harmony remote.

you've turned the option off in the input settings to let Bravia Sync turn off devices when the TV is turned off?
