Some of us, like yourself have not received the update yet. As mentioned previously it looks like the 04.xx.xx update is rolling out in phases (don't know or understand the reasoning behind it, maybe acting as a beta test). So be on the lookout for a update if your TV isn't set to auto-update.

Yeah me either not sure why it’s distributed the way it is.

I’d like to hear the impressions from the professional calibrators on their opinion of which mode is more stable to calibrate and accurate after calibration.

I’m guessing the main rollout of the new firmware didn’t happen yesterday, or more of us would have reported on it by now.

(I was writing this text)
I'm not taking my G7 out the box and enduring setup until I know the update has issued. I'm reading it's expected to be generally available before the end of the month. Another member expressed that he manually installed the Korean FW update but I looked and couldn't find it.
(then the following happened)

A SDR movie I'm watching in the internal VUDU app froze frame and the TV didn't respond but only to the power button. This has never happened to me streaming from any LG TV before. I've streamed a few movies before the one I'm watching now including Baywatch in DV without any issues. This could easily be a hiccup on VUDU side.

This FW is pushing the TV processor, I can see the improved image quality evident with the fidelity of the image due to the processor push. What I hope doesn't happen is LG scales back the processing tuning that could be causing any stability issues should owners en masse identify there's a system instability.

I'm so satisfied with this I'll take it as is even thought I experienced this issue.. The TV has been flawless in performance since the update otherwise. I've turned off auto updates on the W7, it will stay like this for the life of the product, I can't use my G7 without this update being available.

If anyone has the link to the Korean FW, please post it for the G7. I want to download it in case I need to exercise the doomsday option should LG further tweak the current FW.

I am watching New Jack City in VUDU in the Technicolor SDR mode and this is the film that gave me the freeze. I've watched this movie over 100 times through the years since seeing it in the theater when I was in 10th grade.

It will be an understatement to say I've never seen this film look this outstanding, ever. Everything I'm watching so far is outstanding. I wouldn't be surprised that the image processor is a bit overclocked in this FW to do what its doing.

I'll be here in front of my W7 on continuing binge until my G7 gets delivered.

I'll report if I see any other operation issues.

EDIT: Starting to move into the heavyweight portion of my library.. the last time I tried to play my 1080p True Lies on the W7, I wasn't happy at all.

Now, I am very happy.

Interestingly the G7 is not included in the supported TVs list on that Korean firmware file - I hope that doesn't turn out to be the case for the US firmware.

Hey guys been a while since i posted. I recently bought Sonyx800 4k player along with a 65inch lg e7p oled. Unfortuneatly im having some strange issues. When i pop in a 4k movie it plays fine but if i hit stop, the screen either goes black and the player is unresponsive or the home screen flashes like a strobe light. The home screen image just flashes from picture to blank screen. The only way to fix it is to unplug player and restart. I can reproduce this problem 100% of the time, doesnt matter what 4k movie i put in if i hit stop during playback this happens. Do you guys think its the player or my new tv? Ive tried turning off quick boot mode on the player but it still happens. All the player apps work fine and eveything else seems to work right, i just cant stop a movie because it tweaks out just like i described. BTW The player was updated with the latest firmware.

I also notice that some of you got the technicolor update, I’ve tried to update my tv but it shows no updates but I don’t have the technicolor picture setting option. Do they roll these updates out in stages, in other words do only some people get the updates first.? Will I get the update at some point or is something else going wrong with the tv not finding it?

Tvs: 65 LG Oled E7P, 65 Samsung JS9500, 65 Sony XBR900a, 55 Samsung JS8500
Sound: Pioneer Elite SC 91, HSU sub, Pioneer Elite Dolby Atmos Speaker Set (2 towers, Center and 2 bookshelves)
Players: Samsung 4k player (2016), Sony x800 4k, PS4 Pro, 3x PS4, Nintendo Switch

For your E7 I would recommend investing in the OPPO 203. The X800 is not a solid operator. I have mine on the latest update and on disc playback and the streaming apps is guaranteed to freeze/crash the X800 within 1 1/2 playback of a movie.. meaning, it will get through 1 film and on the next follow up film, within half way through, the X800 will crap out.

The flashing issue with the X800 is not the E7.

The latest firmware is reported to be in full distribution by the end of the month. I don't know why the TV companies don't have a uniform update distribution but even with the Sony A1E, I was one of the last owners to get that latest firmware despite having the TV since the launch day.

I don't know what's going on with the G series omission but I read someone received the update on their G. Also, another owner announced this worked on his. For my G7, it will be used mostly with an OPPO 203. I would think the built-in TV streaming apps are a bit different between the US and European models.

I'm only reserving this file as a last resort should:

1) LG do something crazy like delay the general update release
2) Change the current updated FW into another FW (like scale back the processing power of this .40.07 release).

I wouldn't advise anyone to attempt to install the Korean FW for warranty reasons. If the doomsday scenario should present itself (highly unlikely) I'm willing to put my G7 on the line by possibly voiding the warranty to attempt to install the Korean FW.

^^^ If you go Sony check out the 1000ES I have it and it is awesome for both apps and movie playback. No issues on it whatsoever.

I had a OPPO 93 as a main BD player for awhile and it was good as well.

Right now for best UHD go with the Sony / Panny 900 or Oppo 203.

One thing is the ES may not get DV. But the HDR10 that this thing pumps out onto this set is amazing. So if I have to I’ll get next years Sony. Hope it does get it though.

Also right now you are getting mad jealous of the new technicolor update lol. I really hope it rolls out to me!

I may do the 1000ES for the 675es because I like the setting for projector output. I'm using the X800 for the 675es now and I can't get into any binge watching without disruption.

I don't understand why LG has this update on piecemeal. After years of placing their faith into OLED, this is the striking moment to take over the market moving into 2018.

Al, between the fact that this is a firmware designed for the Korean market together with the fact that it's targeted for the C7, I don't think I'd use it for the U.S. market G7/W7. That's just me.

I'm with you here, my interest in that FW is just an emergency contingency of attempting to not lose this should LG plans change for any reason.

Ken, I believe you asked about lip sync issue with the new firmware over ARC, I am getting the lip sync issue with FIOS feed over ARC to the ST5000. I have my OPPO 203 secondary HDMI to the HT so no issue there. My streaming from the TV to the HT no problem either.

Passing though my FIOS HDMI audio feed through the W7 and out to the ST, is the issue. I tried to input FIOS through the OPPO 203 and while the lip sync was on, the OPPO totally destroyed the beautiful PQ I'm getting with FIOS direct to the W7.

I'm going to have to look into something like a HDFury that can possibly split the video and audio into 2 HDMI outputs so I can do a direct audio line to the ST5000.

The ARC/external audio pass through lip sync issue still exist.

(I think I have an older HDFury in the basement, I will look for it).

New Firnware download

I just downloaded FW Version 04.70.06 from LG for my E7. Probably install it tomorrow when I have some time to see what's new.

This is the East Africa release, be mindful about your warranty if this is outside your territory. Big respect though for finding this link, the U.S. site is still behind.. How does East Africa get this before the the North American region?

I didn't catch that I was not on the U.S. site, I'll pass on the Africa version and wait for the U.S. version for my location.

I would like to share this here with the anticipation that someone with a meter will be able to capture the nits performance of the Technicolor tuning. My wife and I just finished watching Wonder Woman 4K UHD dsic:

This is on the stock setting.

(this is posted for members that understand that an iPhone video can't capture the representative details of 4K HDR on an OLED, posted for brightness effects to support nits speculation only)

Damn you Al lol. Man I can’t wait for the Technicolor update on my E7!

You have way more tvs then I do but wow it’s unbelievable what a age of technology we live in as lovers of movies.

I’m just like you and want whatever’s best for picture quality... just not at quite your budget though

You have the E7, I think we are really good for many years to come my friend. I'm just happy finally everyone will get to witness the full power of OLED.. even my well respected comrade Ken Ross (very smart guy, picked the G early). OLED wasn't shown at this level at the NYC shootout, none of the reviews, and only a few people was willing to try my A1E suggestion to get it to its maximum processing capability.

Well, what you see in that iPhone video of the image torque is the stock Technicolor settings.. and it's doing above/beyond what my A1E suggested settings ever did..

I think LG didn't like the comparisons to the A1E and Z9D, the underperformance of public displays of the LG 7 series.. got together with Technicolor and did something seriously about it..

When I of all people swap out my A1E with a 77 G7.. when I already own a W7.. I don't think it get any more authentic than that on what a person like me is seeing, with the healthy amount of viewing hardware already in my possession.

Hang in there, it will be well worth the investment and wait.

Trust me I agree 100%.

We all as 2017 OLED owners are incredibly lucky to have these amazing sets to watch content on!

I don’t upgrade as often as you but it’s usually around every 2-4 years depending...

But damn I’ve never been this happy before and I don’t have the technicolor update. I love that they are adding updates such as that to our sets.
