Understood about the W8.. but the videos of the G8 similarly show a 1/4" thick display.

I have not seen any specs for the 65G8... maybe someone can confirm?

Mounted on the wall the electronics on the back of the G8 (which are in the soundbar of the W8) makes it stick out from the wall multiple inches, while the W8 is like glued to the wall. I think the W7 was actually about 1/8" thick on the wall, not even 1/4".

I agree based on the G7 (last year's model).. but the G8 (2018) appears in those videos to be flat like the W7/8, with a separate (smaller) control box.

Can anyone confirm details/specs for the G8 (2018)? I'm basing my assumptions on the videos shared above.

I believe this is a picture of the back of a G8 from CES:

That looks maybe like the 65E8, but I don't think that's the 65G8..

If you look at the 0:40 timestamp on the top video from my earlier post (#991) it clearly shows the screen separate from the control box, connected by a similar ribbon as used in the W7/8, and the screen itself has no bump out at all.. it's just a very thin display screen.

If the G8 looks like that, and is priced as the G7, that is going to be a great medium point as the W7/W8 are expensive

You would seem to be right. The picture I had found was clearly mislabeled and probably is the E8 then. I wonder how that G8 will mount on the wall (if you can even do that) given I see nothing on the back for mounting.

The descriptions I have seen as well as the video seems to indicate it is a table mount only set.

LG's website is saying $3,499 for the 65" C8. A digital trends article is saying release date of March 19th. I rarely post here so I can't share links. Google away.

Mount shelf, sit TV on shelf?

It's possible the CES demo was a prototype.

It's possible that this is intentionally not able to mounted on a wall.

It's notable that this particular model is not in the early announcement wave.

There's a saying about "everything in moderation". If only it was applied to well, you know...

This is interesting i was just thinking instead of stressing out and maxing out my cards to stock up on 77 oled g6 and a couple c6 65, just keep my current 65 c6, maybe one more and focus on 3d projector for 3d, and keep with the tech upgrades. with a good calibration do you think 3d can be close enough to oled to the point its not worth stressing out if you like it. Also can you use projectors during the day or night only? I know its not the same but the experience of it is more important to me than technicailty, plus i prefer hdr on oled than projector anyway so maybe both is best of both worlds. thoughts?

They can't believe it looked so good for NOT being 4K. And 3D is better than any OLED I have seen on it. I always show of the falling seeds scene in Avatar and is amazing still. HDR would've kept people from moving from 1080p for a long time if they implemented on it and why they didn't.

I hope this time around consumers got the message and ignore 8K. Unless there is a high grade upscaler built in, can't see them getting anything out of it.

They can't get HDR or DV implemented correctly in the pathetic projector market unless you pay $25K. And don't even get me started on the "I paid over $5000+ for my awesome Fake 4k, faux 4k, pixel doubling DLP, oops now Quad shifting DLP, pixel shifting LCD, NOT SURE if I have Ultra HD projector market."

When my 100" OLED screen or microLED comes to market, PJ's are dead. Hopefully sooner than later. The forums here with all these people bragging about fake 4k $5000+ pj's can be confusing and infuriating.

Per the CES video and pictures, it shows the G8 is not wall mountable at all. Unless the CES model was some crazy one off model (unlikely), then it seems the G8 will require a pedestal mount using the separate connection box.

I'm not rendering an opinion about the actual G8 here.

I'm just telling you having attended >15 CES-es, that it's not at all unusual for floor demos to include prototypes that do not reflect final cosmetics or industrial design. Not at all unusual.

It was pretty clear from the start that the Sony A1E at CES with the ''spartan design'' was also the final model
