Opinions on My Panel?

This is the panel of my LG B7A I bought last year. It has approx. 330 hours on it. I never really noticed the banding before (although I wasn't really looking for it either) but lately the dark band towards the middle there has been showing up in dark panning shots sometimes. I noticed it a lot watching The OA and The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. Should I be concerned? Also - have no idea what the weird horizontal blob is but I definitely don't notice that during content.

The B7A's aren't great in terms of banding (I have one). Yours is better than mine if it makes you feel any better. If you only see it sometimes I'd call that a win. I see my bands at least a few times in nearly everything I watch that has a low light scene.

I’ll try to get a better picture for everyone later. Good news however is that it isn’t really visible during normal content viewing except when the screen pans over near dark scenes like before in the movie Oblivion for example. However it’s way better than the A1E ever was and surprisingly it did even better than the my 65” A9G did specifically on those same movie scenes. In all it was very similar in performance to the 65” though. So far I’m really liking what I’m seeing during normal content viewing and I’ll update everyone once I had a chance to spend more time with my new 77” A9G.
Damn 77 inch A9G I cant imagine the price on that Beast lol

Is It Common For Banding To Worsen Over Time?

Is it common for banding to worsen over time? I've had my new LG 65 C8 for about 6 weeks and up until now, I have been very pleased with the screen uniformity. The other day however I noticed a significant vertical band/column running down the center of the screen. I ran the manual pixel refresh for the first time and that seems to have sorted it but I'm a little worried now the I might have issues over the long term. Thanks to anyone who can offer any advice. I'm still within my exchange window but I don't really want the hassle unless its absolutely necessary.

I'm not sure if all OLEDs are the same, but I have the same issues of banding getting better and worse..repeat. Think of it as a box of chocolates...

I’m in the same boat as many of you. I am on my 2nd C8 77 and while the panel is much better than my first I am still having issues with seeing banding in normal content. The uniformity in the photo is not present in content. It’s to the point where I can’t stop looking for it. I have the option to either return it or exchange it for a LED (Q90R) but not get a new LG77. I’m over the 200 hour mark but running out of days for a return. What are your thoughts on the panel? I’m really struggling with this decision. Click image for larger version

Is it the original panel in this set?
Usual question: what's the value of oled light/brightness/contrast?

No, this is a different TV. The settings are:
OLED: 60
Brightness: 50
Contrast: 85
Gamma: 2.2

I can’t get a good pic with the OLED set to 38 and gamma set differently. It just makes the banding worse when the recommended settings are used.

The settings are ok. What I meant is: was the panel ever replaced in this particular set? If not then I can't think of anything else.

Yeah I’m afraid you’re correct. There are two white bands that I see on most content (non-dark scenes) and that’s what is really bothering me

I saw some people here post uniformity issues where whites will have a blue tint but I didn’t see if anyone was able to get their panel successfully replaced by LG.

Did anyone get their blue tint issue fixed by LG?

Attached some pictures of what I’m talking about. It’s harder to see with the full white background but it is more obvious with the ESPN footage.

I am by no means an expert but judging from the photos other users have posted, your uniformity doesn't look that bad to me. From what I understand, essentially all oled's have banding issues unless you get really lucky with your display. My c8 65' has a dark vertical band on the left had side of the screen which I've noticed a handful of times with dark content, I thought about exchanging but I'm scared to get a display that's worse. Hope that helps

Thanks they're sending someone out to look at it but I hope they don't charge me for it. The rep on the phone acknowledged the tint and pointed it out before I explained the issue.

You also have a magenta tint on the right side. Do you have a 2019 panel?

I actually have a 2017 E7... it was replaced recently for burn-in and I'm still within the warranty period. I haven't been able to get colors to look right since I've gotten the panel replaced.

So you have a 2019 panel in a 2017 shell. That proves 2017-2019 panels are all "the same".

From what i’ve seen in this thread, 2017 is the worst in terms of banding. 2019 worst in terms of tinting. All years have tinting and banding to some degree.

No that’s not possible. It’s a panel made for an E7. Who said his panel was brand new?

Hey!

This is my 55C8 manufactured in 05/19 (came with 04.10.55 installed) after 4 compensation cycles. I am dissapointed. Especially the right side looks like IPS glow in real content. I will take it back to the retailer and
I dont't feel like taking my chances in the panel lottery with unknown (probably not too great) odds.

Yes, that's a bad panel, like my first one. My retailer was very helpful and let me test the replacement in their demo room before taking it home.

It doesn’t look this bad in person so I think my phone is exaggerating it. It has some minimal screen artifacts with what looks like vertical / horizontal banding but it’s very minimal in person.
That’s about as clean a screen that I’ve seen yet! Well done.

If you're talkin, you ain't learnin.

I dont't feel like taking my chances in the panel lottery with unknown (probably not too great) odds.

5% gray pictures where taken with the recommended settings from the first post.
Your panel is worse than most. Exchange if you can. You’re most likely going to do better than that.
