Apparently, your credential doesn't allow you to make the distinction between observation and resentment.

Of course they did.... gotta make SURE everyone knows they got an even fancier sheet of 8x11 paper than the standard college sheet.

Doesn’t PHD really stand for "playa hata degree" anyways?

LG OLED65E6P, Samsung PN64H5000
Panny UBD-420, LG UBK-90
Polk RTi Towers, STi surrounds
Polk Subwoofer
Sony DH550 AVR

The amusing aspect of this thread, (indeed, amusement is what I'm here for) is each time one quotes our enlightened contributor, his credential is announced.

If you purchase an extended warranty though Square Trade do they honor screen burn in issues with the OLED TV's? Was looking at picking up a 2018 model or maybe an older 2017 model and wanted to see if anyone had luck with repair through Square.

John1948,

Thanks for your input.

Before the plasma TV market died, I really wanted one bad. The inky blacks and vivid colors were captivating but I knew that the wife's viewing habits were a problem in the making. I settled for a Sony KDL-55W900A (Quantum Dots) TV which was the best that LCD could offer at the time. I've kept my eye on OLED technology, however, hoping that it would offer plasma-like picture quality and low power consumption without the IR/BI problems. The fact that LG doesn't warrant against burn-in tells me all I need to know.

Received a report post ripping the mods for not being even-handed. WE DON'T READ EVERY POST. We can't possibly read each and every post that is posted by the over 1 million members of AVS.

When we "clean up" a thread and we miss one, it doesn't mean we are favoring one member/stance over another....it just means we missed one.

So instead of assuming we did something intentionally, assume as unpaid volunteers we simply didn't see it.

This thread was dead since August, until a new member resurrected it...since then members have been focused on other topics than burn-in....so it's run it's course.

If you want to discuss the topic (and not politics, pundits and PHD's) you can continue the topic in the Master Burn-in thread:
