Agreed I wouldn't install any software that didn't come directly from LG or on an LG site. The LG sites also list the TV that the software covers which I also suggest checking.

I see a post in this thread that has a file hosted outside of LG and there is no telling if it's genuine or not, so as always proceed with the knowledge that it carries risk etc.

They usually release software every few months until the next generation is released and generally that's it unless something major pops up.

So hopefully they fix your audio issues and I hope they actually give us 4.0 WebOS for the 2017 models but I doubt it.

3) The wiring to the speaker stops working
4) The amplifier to the speaker stops working
5) The decoder stops passing data to the amplifier for the center channel

I guess the TV could have a bug in the DD+ encoder causing it to drop the channel. I would have thought more complaints would have been seen about that, but who knows.

2, 3 and 4 seem pretty unlikely, and 5 seems pretty implausible if other things are working, although other than ARC probably nothing uses DD+ and certainly early on many decoders had mistakes in their DD+ handling. So it could be a buggy DD+ decoder too. Switching to optical would of course drop it to DD which would not really help debug things.

Sounds very weird.
Same issue here with the center channel dropouts. The digital audio has not been right these past two firmware releases.

I am hearing we will be seeing something soon, now the question will be what does it fix and what does it break (hopefully nothing).

Hope it fixes the Dolby Vision issues when using HDMI. I've been wanting to get the Apple TV 4K but waiting for this Dolby issue to get fixed.

my Netflix app takes forever to load or just hangs on loading and says "we're having trouble playing the title now......" pretty much any time I try to use it lately. Is this a bug? Is there a way to kill the app and restart it?

When you get that error, it's usually a networking issue, so I'd recommend rebooting your modem & router. To kill the app, just unplug the TV for 30-60s or so and plug it in and turn it back on. Do that with all 3 of these and that should sort things out. Forgive my ending 2 sentences with prepositions in a row...

I will post a new thread and one can follow the video I had put up a while ago on how to upgrade your firmware if you one needs help. It's an easy process overall, as of 2-5-18 I do not see anything released yet. Usually I suggest waiting a few days to make sure nobody has reported any issues.

This is typical that new sets coming from manufacturing have newer software then what is out there. I know a release is coming shortly for the rest us, hopefully it fixes all issues that exist and is perfect

As of right now nothing has been released.

What are the chances this upcoming update will fix the audio video sync problems?

I have until the 20th to return this TV. Will these ridiculous AV syc problems ever get fixed? Does anyone know why LG is so bad at this seemingly basic function? Is it really all a software issue or is there some kind of cheap hardware at play here?

Unless you're using the CEC functions or your soundbar supports Atmos, you should give the optical connection a try if you haven't already.

That?s a misunderstanding: I use the optical output, but the signal comes from external via hdmi. No matter if Apple TV or IPTV or Blu Ray. All with delay, when audio is Dolby digital

Damn, I had been led to believe, by LG support, that this would be fixed in the new firmware. I now have .65 installed and the issue is actually worse in some ways...... back to optical for now.....

Yes, I was confused...and that does sound annoying. The only 100% solution you're likely to find is with a receiver or other device that supports the HDMI CEC lip sync functions.

I do.
I use a Ligawo 3080026 HDMI HDR Switch to solve the problem, but i would love to not have to use this additional peace of hardware.

When you all are talking about center channel drop outs, are you referring to when, ex. You play Netflix or Amazon and there is no center channel or voice? It's very random correct?

It's actually a 3.1 dropout. 5.1 signals drop the center, both surrounds, and LFE channel, and yes, it's very random and only seems to occur with the built-in streaming apps. Fortunately it can be reset by turning the TV off and on - it doesn't make it any less annoying, but at least there's a workaround.

Thanks @MackGuyver . Thats exactly what i am seeing as well. Hopefully LG will fix this and the slow wi fi performance from the set as well. Thankfully there are AppleTV, Rokus etc to get around this.

Audio delay update:

Received the new XG1v4 dvr box from Comcast yesterday. This replaces a XG1v1. Was hoping this would fix the audio delay issues I was seeing, but unfortunately, that is not the case. Severe audio delays when cable box is set to output audio using Digital Dolby or Export Mode ( new menu item with this box ). Stereo Output selection works find. Making things worse, this v4 doesn't have optical, so I'm stuck with stereo until LG fixes this issue. This is all with the latest US firmware, 04.70.36.

Any chance we can get this listed as a known firmware bug on the master thread? What's the process in getting issues listed in the first post?

I have the same issue and that fix did not work for me. Anyone else have this problem? For now I have to turn ARC off, start playing the movie, and then turn ARC back on and I continue to receive the ATMOS signal.
