I wonder, considering this, if there might be a chance of having VRR, QMS and eARC added at a later point by LG, during the supported lifetime of the products. With certification starting in the second quarter of the year, it might be plausible that LG is aiming for that but couldn't announce it?
What do you think?

You were my "hero" BEFORE you pulled this off ! LOL So, just for the record, you just solidified that wolvernole ranking. Wee-done, sir ! Very well done. I think you went back on saying that you were going to "pass" this year, no ? (not complaining, NOT complaining !)
I sincerely look forward to ANY tidbits that you throw us on this baby. And NOBODY can make a better comparison than you, for gosh sakes ! Woo-hoo !

So we are talking ONE WEEK from today if our March 19th date is still accurate. Of course, Al might break out a day or so early?? When I personally observed the LG rep's 55" C8 for about an hour, as I previously mentioned, I was VERY impressed. But it was not in a darkened environment. Nevertheless, I liked every aspect of it from color to motion.
I want to leave the detailed comparison to our own "resident," Al, however.

I have a 55EG9100 with 11,340 hrs on it and I've never had any problems with it, but I'm looking to buy a 65C8 when some user reviews on them come out.

Would the Insignia NS-HWMC1848 TV stand with mount work with the C8 (or C7 for that matter)?

I want the bottom edge of the TV about 36 inches from the ground (maybe an inch or two more) and enough space for an SVS ultra center on the top shelf.

Also, a bit confused about VESA mount standards... is 300mm by 200mm same as 200mm by 300mm? The LG site shows one of those and the online manual for this stand/mount shows the other... Thanks

Well glad to hear someone here will have one shortly so we can read about your experience. Congrats on not thinking twice about paying the release price but congrats! I have the E7 which I still like over the C7, so I would go that route again to replace my EF9500 which basically sucks for HDR which I am missing out on for my gaming setup.

How big a leap is the E7 over your EF9500? I have the EG9600 and plan on grabbing a C8 as soon as I can, this summer.

If you are a gammer it's a big step as the XBOX one X latest games are in HDR and I have to turn that off on the EF9500 because it's too dark. So for the most part that is the biggest step-up in the latest is HDR aside from general other improvements. The latest WebOS always improves as a new version is released, I want to say the C8 should be a good upgrade from the EF9500, I did it with the E7 and considering getting the E8 and selling my EF9500 for whatever I can get for it. I am a technology guy, so I like the latest, I go on less vacations and buy more TV's

I was going to say very big jump.. but... that wouldn't be quite right. The ef9500 (same with the 9600) was really nice but the banding on dark screens had problems. Problems that even a non picky person would see. Livable? sure.. but there. It drove me crazy and i quickly replaced mine with a g6 when that was released.
That said, i gave away my two ef9500s and the people that have them now still love them.

Going to the E7 (or any of the x7) is real nice and a step up. the c7 or c8 would make real nice upgrade from your 9600. Even if the c8 is very close to the c7 the addition of the auto-cal is a big deal. But if you aren't going to calibrate it. Maybe check pricing for the x7s after x8 are on the street.

My EG9600 has some serious vignetting. It's gotten tolerable over the last couple years, and it's actually symmetrical, so it makes shadow scenes look like an Instagram filter. I also have the UB version with HDR over HDMI. HDR games are great, but it's hit or miss with movies and tv. I have already decided to go with a 2018 model, because of the new Alpha 9 processor. I'm curious to hear first hand accounts of LG's implementation of Black Frame Insertion.

You expecting yours on the 19th? I just went into my local Magnolia to check on my deposit C8 and they have NO information. Didn't even know about the press release date of the 19th.. sigh.

I believe all the 8 models will support autocal. Too bad the equipment to do it is not cheap, but at least it should hopefully make life for calibrators a bit easier and perhaps even give better results.

I had Autocal on my VT60. It worked, although only as good as the meter you use (iDisplay Pro in my case).

Granted, that was only for 10 point greyscale and CMS. While the LG autocal will be more in-depth, I’m pretty sure people can still do a basic 2 and 10 point if those are the only patterns they have access to.

Plus, we need to make sure LG actually has a properly working CMS. I know the 2016 models were all messed up and many people avoided using them entirely. I heard mixed reports for the 2017s.

The difference is that this is working with a 3dlut directly and not configuring the actual cms like it would fluctuate the values for the Panasonic AutoCal.

After looking at an LG 65" for the past 9 months, I wish I'd never bought it!

(I wish I'd bought a 77")

On the bright side, the 77C8PUA is cheaper that the 77G7P- no built in sound bar (and I don't need no stinkin' soundbar).

Make sure when you buy your extended warranty it is not backed by AIG, I had a horrible experience with them. Some extended warranties are good others not so much. Not trying to be a negative nancy just do not want to see someone get burned.
