My 65” C8 looks like this with flash. It kinda looks like film if you look close in the corner.

I assume it's the anti-reflective coating. If it's already messed up anyway, why not try to get it completely off?

I've always been wondering how it would affect the picture quality. Shouldn't no coating at all be the best for dark room viewing?

I start to get it off, but what appears bottom was some glue that apparently fix that filter with the screen

Thinking the same especlly if there’s any tinting. If I thought it would cure my yellow tint and the glue can be removed...I’d start peeling now.

Yeah it would be really interesting to know if the tinting is caused by the coating or not.

Is there such thing as fake LG OLEDs? Because I’ve been seeing a ton of C8 models for super cheap prices, way under retail value. And it just concerns me because I don’t want to buy one and it be a fake.

How is this a QC problem, he peeled off the filter, unless I read something wrong. It’s not like anyone’s display looks like that prior to doing so. I’m all for perfection, but posts like yours are just spreading more crap. Another quality post from a non-owner. Based on how much I continue to enjoy my C8, what it does better than last year’s 7, I may end up with another one.

Such as HIGH red -1, HIGH green -3, HIGH blue -3 and LOW green +4 together give me the best results with the rgb filter card.

One thing that is driving me crazy is finding the right settings that reduces the sheen on sports jersey numbers. I don't like them looking like silk instead of vinyl or cloth. Do others see what I mean and are similarly bothered by it? Does a proper calibration eliminate that effect?

Thanks in advance for any replies.
Yes settings can vary.

Your eyes are fine, but using a RGB color filter is not fine. Don't use!
Matter of fact most owners will be best suited with the default RGB and CMS settings.

Depends on the broadcast, but yes a very good pro can help with what you are seeing. Beware the majority of so called Pro's probably will not improve the PQ.
You can try and turn off most if not all enhancements, 0 Sharpness, lower OLED Light for any non HDR or DV broadcasts, use your calibration disc to set brightness (you want to see at least 18 flashing but still dimly, 17 very slightly is ideal)

So I bought an LG C8 I also have Samsung 950 Soundbar. I purchased a LG UBK90 uhd player today. Now I have had no lip sync issue with Atmos or Dolby Vison on Netflix or Amazon or any streaming service through ARC. I am having really bad lip sync issues when playing uhd discs with Dolby Vision and Atmos. Now if I use the internal speaker I have no issues and if I change the sound to PCM the issues also resolve. Because Atmos plays through ARC fine with Netflix. I have to think the issue with the tv passing through from one HDMI to another. I have high quality cables nothing over 6 feet so I do not think that is the issue. Any one have any suggestions?

Question: are you only getting lip sync when using ARC from an external device, in this case the UHD player? I think I have the same issue with a Sonos Beam over ARC. Below is my description of what I experienced as posted on the Sonos website. I really want to use ARC, but if it can’t pass Dolby without lag, then what is the point...

Quote:
Hi everyone.

Like most people, i wish i had read this thread prior to purchasing my Beam.

I have an LG OLED B8, it's about a month old, and i find that when i connect my Beam through ARC, all external devices are generating about 250ms of audio lag behind the video when those devices send Dolby Digital 5.1. I've tested a PS3, AppleTV (2nd gen), and Xbox One X. I'm getting a PS4 Pro next week so i could test that too, but honestly they all have exactly the same amount of lag, so i think there is no point.

I've also changed the audio settings on all of those devices to send a Stereo signal instead of Dolby, and watched as lag improved to near perfect on all 3 devices. However, I don't think it sounds as good. I'm not looking for perfection here (although it would be nice), but 250ms is just too much IMO. If it were sub-100ms, then i'd probably not be writing this post.

All internal apps on the TV, such as Netflix, Youtube, etc. output to the Beam via ARC with no delay.

I'm inclined to believe that it is an LG problem... but if that's true, wouldn't ALL soundbars and receivers experience the same delay over ARC? wouldn't that render OLED ARC basically borked??? Yes, I could get an optical splitter, but the main draw of this Sonos Beam was it's ease of use and the ability to use ARC seamlessly. That has not been the case.

I'm driven mostly out of curiosity at this point to find out what the heck is going on. Sadly, the Beam is going to have to go back. I like the sound, but for $400, I don't think that amount of lag over ARC is acceptable. My preference is to buy a new device that will not have any lag over ARC, but does such a device exist???? I'll do some research, but please let me know if you have found a solution that works.

If anyone else has had issues with ExternalDeviceSendingDolbyDigital5.1->OLED->ARC->Sonos Beam, and found that another device didn't cause any audio delay, I would love to know. Also, I'll report back with any new info i'm able to gather.

Why not use the HDMI audio only out feature of the LG UBK90 and connect directly to one of the HDMI in ports of your 950. That's what I do using my Oppo 203 and my 950, works great.
btw, I use optical not ARC if I want the sound from a streaming app in your TV to play in my 950. Just use the 950's remote to switch between HDMI 1 or 2 and optical (D-IN).

Interesting. I don’t have cable, but I assume it isn’t sending dolby. Easy way to check is to press the UP button when watching cable and then clicking the center wheel. It’ll give you info about what video and audio information is being sent. My guess is it’s PCM, hence no delay in audio.

Well, my plan of getting a sound bar that doesn’t have lag through ARC from external devices doesn’t look very promising. I’ll be returning the Sonos Beam and will look into alternatives and will report back what I find.

This worked. Thanks. I mean it should just pass through so I don’t have to change the input on the soundbar but that is a relatively painless fix.
