I was looking forward to A/B comparison vs. Sony.
I don’t see that info when I click on his name. I have multiple A1Es here including a 65^3 LUT calibrated one so I planned on doing the comparison myself.
Hi Dwayne! Many thanks to all the tv’s you calibrated for me in past past, I hope your still enjoy the 500m

Have you been able to test the input lag on the c8? Knowing that the tv has a new processor I was curious if they reduced it from the 21ms that my c7 has. Also bfi apparently can be turned on in game mode so it would be interesting to see what the lag increase would be wih that on.

Basically I am looking to get either this c8 or the new q9fn for gaming only, which ever has the better uniformity and lowest lag wins my money!

All of this will be tested after my TV has enough hours to do a calibration

Nice, looking forward to your Leo Bodnar readings.
btw. what's the build date/month of your set? Is it February, 2018 (802)?

I'm curious about input lag as well. Added image processing could also add input lag, rather than reduce it, despite a faster chip. It'll all depend on what LG turns on and off in Game Mode.

Ditto. People often praise the upscaling on the A1E vs the LGs, but the A1E adds quite a bit of input lag when upscaling 1080p signals to 4K. That has turned out to be an issue with the success of the Nintendo Switch, since it doesn't support 4K output.

Had seen the same thing, not that they will have a price that isn't full MSRP for a while but at least there is hope to see the TV when released. B&H is taking pre-orders if you want to drop a deposit but so make sure to check out CP and VE or whoever as the box stores / major retailers will be full price at release vs maybe getting it at a better deal etc.

Not *that* interesting since it's purportedly an A1E clone. The LG did win a shootout last year in spite of all of its inferiorities.

The A1E had the best image on a OLED last year (my opinion) if the C8 can at least match it then il be in the market for one

Yes, of course. Value Electronics shootout results show that, usage dependent, it is possible to reach another conclusion. For me, almost everything after 2016 (G6) is a step down since 3D was discontinued.

Looked at Sony's website...A8F...could not find an owners manual to look at. So no idea if they will also include a logo dimming control in their new model. If they do...they will be in the race. If they don't...LG wins the 2018 game even if the Sony's picture is a hair better. My opinion.

I hope with the new processor the 2018's input lag won't go up. The 2017's 21ms input lag is about the most I can handle.

You know what, watching this video of the C8 77 inch model, it appears it has NO ag filter on it. Especially take notice of the top right where two very bright white lights are reflecting on it, there is no tint at all there unlike all other oleds.

https://youtu.be/m2KEA7AYQOc

Does anyone know if the 65/55 c8 has the same reflection color as this 77c8? Or is the 65/55 have the same ag filter as last year with some tint to it?

Also does anyone know if the ag filter on the lg oleds is water based adhesive?

I ask because if it is water based then just like ag filter on monitors etc, it could be removed as I have done this on about 30 different monitors over the years. I hate that cheap car tint texture that the ag filter has on the oleds, I would prefer the screen without the filter, even in an interview one of the LG engineers pushed for the ag filter not to be on them as the panel is brighter with it off but higher ups pushed for the ag filter due to the tv doing better blacks in a bright enviornment.

They already have them. Until they are on the website, which almost all of the bonehead floor reps use, just use the SkU.

I was at my local Magnolia/Best Buy yesterday and the Magnolia rep stated they have the C8P at the "local" warehouse but can't get it to me until first week of April. Anyone know what the reason in is for this? Is the warehouse he speaks of not really local?

The supplies are delivered ahead of launch, so there is enough stock for the launch. It just sets the stage for a smooth launch, when supplies are just ramping up.

It's not being advertised as available by any retailer currently. The manufacturer holds all the cards on whether to allow pre-orders. Sometimes, they will allow only their preferred seller to do pre-sales only.

Ya but this goes against their press release stating they will be available the week of March 19th, which is just ending now. Completely idiotic I have to wait for a warehouse to fill up for a TV I pre-ordered two months ago and 7 days past press release launch date.

My B.B. said maybe mid April for me...it’s obnoxious. May go through value electronics if it doesn’t show up in the first half of April. I’d rather get the set at the release price because I remember last year after initial release it went up 500

They were available the week of March 19th, just not in all outlets. Best Buy prioritizes a few outlets over the slower diffusion to all of the rest and LG prioritizes certain high-end retailers like Value Electronics over others less-specialized retailers like Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/LG-65-OLE...8PUA/433245960

The oress release did not say universally available nor ever widely available...

Dang. I see Walmart bumped up the price of the 2018 C8 by $500. It's listed on the website above for 4k.

Was at my local Best Buy in Iowa today and the salesman said he was aware they released information on the 18 models, but didn't expect to have any in the store until May.

Speaking of Value Electronics, anyone here get one from them before and are they a decent place to buy from? I"d only consider them as their website says they expect to ship the 65" C8 to customers this upcoming week. I'd also check out Cleveland Plasma if they had an idea when they would have them available. I'd hate to order from out of state places like that not knowing when they will have them in stock just to have my local BB get them 3 days from now lol even though they said May.
