I was able to find a 3.1 soundbar and also a 5.1 both with wireless subs each for under $100 shipped from eBay. I use them as part of my Google whole home audio solution because they can be added to audio groups within the home. I don't know if that's budget for you or not but Ebay also has coupons/cash back promotions from time to time.

Example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VIZIO-40-3-1ch-Sound-Bar-System-SmartCast-SB4031-D5/382657524194?epid=224726046&hash=item59182a71e2:g: 7w4AAOSwn6dbVxzL:rk:32f:0

I received my C8 a few days ago and also forgot to remove all three films from the back. No plastic smell when the TV was on for over 4 hours several times. I did notice, when finally removing the plastics, that the big one has many small punched holes all over it perhaps to vent heat in case of forgetting to remove it?
I do love my new C8 and have benefited from the many settings posts I've been reading. The settings that suit me are pretty close to those that seem to be most prevalent on the forum.

I'm also looking for a recommendation for this, as I have the same problem with my center channel speaker being too tall, and no where else to really put it. Unfortunately I can't mount the TV on the wall like I wanted. I'm also not crazy about some of the options I've found, which are basically short tables or shelves, since I'm not really confident they can hold the weight.

I have a KS8000 and if the screen is off, you can absolutely see every fingerprint or other smudge, but not so much when the screen is actually on.
I avoid using any cleaning agents but sometimes you can't avoid getting oil based smudges or dried caked up stains/spots, using some distilled water on the cloth cuts through the crud vs wiping it with a dry cloth which just shifts the oil around or doesn't remove the caked up crud. so you've totally avoided havingever having any form of moisture touching the screen of yr ks8000?

The AVS Soundbar forum may be of help https://www.avsforum.com/forum/195-soundbars/

Just checked, after manual update (x2), still on .06 firmware in San Diego.

Google "TV Riser" …. dozens of choices at amazon, walmart, target, etc...

No luck. I tried 3 times and finally unplugged the power on the TV and plugged it back in and tried again. Still no luck connecting to my router.

Anyone else having this problem with the new firmware and their wireless connection?

I posted this two days ago and got no comments. I'm going to assume no one else that has been able to get the .15 update has had this happen. I'll add that my other devices and components (including my cell and Kindle) readily connect to my wifi network just as they always have. Today I unplugged my C8 for 30 minutes to see if that helped but no luck. I'll repeat that this happened just a few hours after updating to .15 and my C8 is the only device affected. It was the first time I tried using wifi after the update. It was obviously working fine since it used my wifi to download the .15 update.

Can someone who has the .15 update on their C8 answer if their wifi connections are still fine and working properly?

I think the questionable item is wifi. It has a lot of unknowns attached to it. Unless you are using 5.8GHz for wifi the answer maybe simple.

Just got my 65" C8....any issues with the ARC on these sets?
I am using the a Samsung HW-N950 Soundbar with 7.1.4 Atmos and DTSX capabilities as well as DV and HDR passthrough. I figure I would plug my BDP 93 Oppo BD player to the C8 as well as my Cable box and use the HDMI ARC from the TV to the sound bar for sound. Does anyone see a problem with this configuration?

Thanks

As I recall, I have always just used a microfiber cloth on my KS8000. I think one or two times I put some tap water on a paper towel, and very carefully wiped down the screen, then used a microfiber cloth to dry it off. Seemed to work fine for me.

I'm getting a C8 next week and I wanted to ask if you've calibrated your set or are using the out-of-the-box settings? If so, how accurate are they?

The thing is, I have the Calman software but had bought the C6 meter without HDR. I assumed the SDR calibration would carry over to the HDR modes like on the Sony. The C6 HDR2000 meter and VideoForge Pro for the HDR test patterns are way too expensive, especially if imported. I'm not in the U.S so a professional calibration isn't possible either.

Question: Is it possible to do bt.2020 SDR with the above equipment? If so, what would I be missing by skipping the HDR calibration? The gamma curve/clipping point is set by LG and can't be tweaked, right? If at least a bt.2020 SDR calibration is possible with AutoCal, at least the colors would be on point in HDR, I think?

I've heard the Technicolor Picture Mode is pretty close to reference OOB?

For those with the 4.10.15 update, this update hasn’t messed with anything else has it? In particular, is the hdr game mode still the same and not dimmed like the 2017 models?

i don't have it yet, but don't know why it would be. remember 2018 series have dynamic tone mapping that you can turn on in hdr game mode.

Start at the other end and look at the router. Does it show that TV is connected? With the TV switched on, reboot the router. Does the TV show if it has a IP address?

Yep. Warm distilled water and a high quality microfiber cloth is what a lot of us have been recommending for years. For difficult spots, a good quality eye glass cleaner, used very sparingly works well. For normal light dusting, I just use a Swifter Sweeper Unscented refill. Works great and is very safe for the panel.

Anyone else noticing that true blacks can have a strange pattern running over it?

Hard to describe but you can see that the pixels aren’t off. When I can see it i can see it either on the black bars of a show, or over the whole screen if it’s mostly/completely black.

It’s not always the case and I think it mostly happens in a warm state, eg on for some half hour to few hours.

To see it you have to get quite close and up personal, although I think at distance it can trick the mind in thinking it’s a glow.

I have the 77c8lla. Coincidentally I also have the noisy power supply issue. I think there is a correlation but I will have to investigate further.

Possibly a sign that LG is putting the update up on their website is that the section where you normally can download the firmware is currently missing on the US site. Fingers crossed, since I'm in Nor Cal and still nothing.

There is indeed a sort of static dithered pattern that will be noticeable over dark shades if you are very close to the screen. I would assume you can see this from further distances on such a large screen size. However, if you can see this pattern over "true blacks", than I'd suggest that your television is not actually displaying "true black"; your panel is still illuminated. If you are truly viewing a completely black image, the screen should appear the same as if it were off. Perhaps your brightness setting is a tick too high.

Also, you might be experiencing a bug which causes the black levels to be slightly elevated through the HDMI inputs. This happens to me all the time. You have to switch to another input and back again to fix this issue. I switch to the Live TV input, which always seems to remedy this.

I can vouch for that. When doing some basic calibrations on my set, there is a noticeable difference between brightness levels 51 and 52. Looking at a black clipping test pattern, at 51, everything is true black, but at 52 you start to see a faint glow.

May want to look at a 5% slide if the banding is extreme it will translate to regular content. Having said that near blacks do have issues on 2018 OLEDs. Some have addressed this by setting sub pixel brightness to 127 in the service menu then raising brightness to 52.
