I'm just waiting for my 65c8 to be delivered... I'm very excited, moving from a 65" 2013 panasonic plasma!

Do I need to run any slides or anything when I first get it, or just start watching stuff?

Just avoid things with stationary pieces of imagery and enjoy. Slides are nice...but I prefer a good 4K movie

Read through this thread for the past repeated discussion of this.

Kenbar this an owners thread for the 8 series...this not the 6 series thread...and certainly not another thread for you to scare people with BI.

Arghhhhh I final found a owner that has the 77 inch C8 OLED. Now I've asked this question 10 time but no answer, Can you pleasssssssssse measure one of the bottom holes of the wall mount on the TV to the bottom of the TV. Reason I have Sony 75 inch 9400E in Australia (US 940E) that on the wall and the mounting holes are lot further up on the back of the Sony Tv so by this you can see when I buy the LG C8 77 OLED I will have to lower the mount a BIT so the vertical of the LG OLED is in the middle of our eyes whilst sitting on our lounges.
Many thanks if you can do this

Maybe my choice was easier, since I was replacing a TV anyway. I came here and asked back in July and all the answers I got in here were..Yes I would see a difference. And I do, it's not a placebo effect. Whenever I have people over they are always blown away. I think also what made it easier was moving from a 55 to a 65 for the living room. The only thing I can tell you is I am extremely happy with the upgrade, and some other people may not be. Unfortunately, in the end, only you can decide whether upgrading is right for you. I will throw this out, unless you are looking at them now because of lowered prices, wait for the 2019s, they should be out in a couple of months. Whatever you decide, good luck and I hope you will be happy with your decision!!

Congrats and welcome I jumped from plasma to oled and you will be very happy. Folks here have different methods, but what I've done on all my oleds is try to watch full screen content for at least the first 100 hours as the panel needs to settle or "break in" You will notice a bit of black crush but this is normal at first. Get your popcorn out and enjoy!

Thanks for the advice! I'm really looking forward to it. These last 9 days waiting for it to be delivered have been KILLING me!!

Any full aspect ratio movies/tv shows you'd recommend that would blow my mind?

^I would be impatient as well...but know is a good time to get your research done to take full advantage of your set for instance getting a 4k blu ray player and hdmi premium certified cables. You dont have to watch full screen for all of the first 100hrs but I would try to watch the majority in fullscreen. What I did was rewatch my favorite shows like The Sopranos, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead.

Full screen movies that to me are good:

Pacific Rim
Ghost in the Shell
Zero Dark Thirty
Marvels The Avengers
Blue Planet 2
Planet Earth2

Thats just a few.

Netflix also has some pretty stunning shows in Dolby Vision, Lost in Space, and Altered Carbon.

Question on this... Getting a 940e but plan on upgrading to a 75 oled ina few years when price is down....Can mounts be adjusted vertically...like sliding up and down? Or do you have to redrill holes?

Disabling it has of course the disadvantage that the screen will no longer dim if you take a break or fall asleep while displaying a static picture, thus increasing the risk of burn-in if you're not careful.

*waiting for Otto to reply and tell everyone that his set doesn't have any issues
I went in and disabled it, thx. Hadn't been into the service menu since I had my E6. It's a lot easier to navigate than I remember.

Sorry but I don't agree. I know you don't like to hear about such things. But Oleds in their current state...and I'm not discussing it. Just advised not watch things that have stationary pieces of imagery...strait out of the 2018 LG Oled owners manuals. Perhaps you should call LG, explain that it's not important and request that it be removed.

Watched IT (2017) movies yesterday and it was the first time I notice the issue called ASBL. The final fight between the kids and the clown was extremely dark and hard to see; I thought it was how the scene was supposed to be until I came back later and the scene was a lot less dim. So tempted to get into the service menu and turn off tcp. Next week an LG engineer will come with a IR blaster so I may ask him to help me do so. But is there a negative side effect by turning this off (apart from burn in risk of course)? Did Vincent Teoh from HDTVtest say it screws up the color of the tv?

The guy was asking about what to watch when he initially gets his set. In other words, he was asking about breaking the set in, be it with slides or something else. And what do you mean but not watching stationary pieces of imagery? Can he not watch a football game with the scoreboard in the corner? What about one of the network shows with a logo?

Come on, Cam1977 is right. There are at least two other threads for you to advance your agenda.

What is the distance from the bottom edge of the 77" C8, to the center line of the bottom VESA mounting holes?

If the vertical offset of the center of the VESA hole pattern on the C8 is 100mm or less, I can center my 600x400 mount vertically in the viewing area for use with my existing TV, and still preserve my option to attach this 400x200 C8 later without moving the wall mount to accommodate it. If the offset is more, I'll have to come up with another solution.

The New 2018 C-8 Series are much more advanced than any previous model produced by LG for the prevention and minimizing of B.I and Image retention. In example the mini pixel refresher for over 4 hours accumulated viewing. The new ABLS system that still need some work and if you quit turning stuff off in the SM because it bothers you, Stay Out of the Service Menu. . The static logo minimization and pixel shifter.
Then there's the don't be stupid factor. As everyone here and everyone who has ever owned a Plasma or OLED have been told. Don't leave your set on a movie with a continuous loop with Black Bars Top and Bottom or on the sides for 2-weeks. If you want to watch a movie watch a movie but not back to back to back marathon for 2-days and when watching sports be carefull with Banners a static images for the FIRST 300 HOURS.Please ,Please , Please don't ever leave your $3000.00 Display on CNN, Fox, MSMBC, BBC, or any news network for 12 hours a day. No it Don't have to be on that channel for 24 hours a day if it does get a LCD or LED. Don't pause a Game or something on the screen and go shopping, fall a sleep, go out for the night, or just chit chat for a couple hours.
You can watch any Sport, Movie, or play any Video Games just give it a rest, switch to full screen Video after.

Please if you have been doing these things please turn the Display to another channel or movie that fills the screen for 15 -20 minutes after that long session.

If you don't have time to think a little get a LCD or LED, they are really good now days. Although I have seen Burn In on them too, ask any repair tech, you can not believe the stuff people can pull and then say I Didn't Know.
One of the Biggest things you can do is rotate your viewing. NOT the same channel or Video all the time. This is not forever just for the FIRST 300 HOURS.

Hope this Helps you in your decision making.

Nothing's Impossible if you don't have to do it yourself ! Glenee

I was just thinking about that. I thought it was on the label affixed to the box but I never looked. I know on earlier LG's (I have an LG LCD downstairs) it was on the box label. It could be on the label that is affixed to the back/side of the panel. Never looked.

Here I go again, repeating myself, but I don't think anyone is arguing the point that BI is a possibility on OLED. In fact, I'm sure there are panels that do in fact have BI/IR. But to imply that ALL OLED panels have it, or will have it is pushing the fact. What I've learned is that with OLED, they do in fact probably take a little more care and feeding than an LCD.

This whole conversation is very reminiscent of the comments that were being posted in various threads by a member who is not around anymore. Most tedious.

If you are in a one-tv only household, I wouldn't recommend an OLED for constant primary viewing. Nothing can beat the pq but with that comes some compromises.

It's on the back of the TV on the same plate with the serial number.
