Record programs utilizing STB DVR storage, how?

Ran a search "record programs" and got zero response. So using the An-MR18BA with the Cisco STB ISB7105 how do I record TV shows? Which buttons are used? Thanks.

Currently I have a non-4K AVR for 5.1 and all video sources are connected directly to the C8 and hmdi arc to the avr. Do I need a 4K AVR (HDR10, Dolby vision)? I am not planning to have atmos and might not notice the difference with 7.1. And I am using the internal apps of C8 for google movies, netflix and amazon. Will I miss something aside from all are connected to avr and only one connection to the TV? I am trying to justify if getting a 4K will make a significant difference. This is for movie or tv only as I have separate setup for music.

Thanks

Unless you need Hdr/dv passthru not sure why you would need it , sounds like you are content with arc ?

Video sources are directly connected to the C8 so this similar to passthru with 4K Avr so video format is as is.

I see no reason to do it unless you are upgrading for Atmos of something similar , you only get lossy formats thru arc but sound like you are good with that .

Exactly this. If you have your video sources straight to the TV, and you aren't upgrading to Atmos or 7.1, there is no need to upgrade your AVR if you are satisfied with your experience.

I've had my C877 for going on three months now and I absolutely LOVE IT!! It is, by far, the best display I've ever had, in spite of it not being perfect. You will especially love watching UHD/HDR movies on this, preferably in a dark room!

Unless I'm missing something, this doesn't seem to have anything to do with the C8. It would probably make sense to post in one of the forums related to your source or to the devices you are talking about , e.g., cable TV, HDTV, etc.

Yes, I normally check Display Specifications. It's not 100% correct (my previous KS7000 was wrongly listed as 8bit+FRC, but it was fixed eventually), but it's normally a good quick indicator.
eg: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/d61db42

Quote:
I also agree 100% with your Dolby Vision comment. My understanding is that the current Dolby Vision standards downscale to 10-bits because 12-bit panels aren't here, yet.
That's true (not all the content is fully 12bit for one thing) and dolby vision offers many benefits which are already fully implemented. Such as iCtCp colour space which will give better picture quality than YCrCb[1], full control over the tone-curve (unlike HDR10+ which leaves it up to each manufacturer how they choose to tone-map, so that's the wild west), the ability to only tone-map a section of the screen not just the whole screen, etc.

Also the portion about processing in the TV matters. For example Sony's X1 extreme chip does all the processing at 14bit (IIRC) even though it's a 10bit panel. Also, the T-CON used with the panel can make a difference[2] (something LG have improved for 2019).

4.10.55?

Does anyone have feedback on the 4.10.55 firmware update that was pushed to my C8 last night? Currently I'm on 4.10.15 and am curious as to what differences there may be.

Ed... I so value the resources and knowledge of AVSForum! My system: LG C8, Denon AVR-X4500H, Apple 4K TV, Sony X1000ES, Panasonic UB9000, 7.1.2 audio, a hodge-podge, mostly M&K

You can also go to LG website and right next to the firmware download (to the right side) there is the word reference highlighted in red. Click on it to and it gives you info on the firmware

The consensus is that it is best to stay on 15 for now.

That's news to me. There is very clearly not a consensus! We keep saying it every time someone new rocks up without reading anything and FAQing asks "what's the consensus?"

Feedback: .55 has incorrect gamma like .30 but fixed smooth gradation feature of mpeg noise reduction is fixed. I would wait for next public release may be 5.10.0 or 5.20.0? I have mine at 5.10.0 and gamma is fixed, but I did it through service menu

You may be right. When I posted the question to this forum, I was working under the assumption that as this was an LG C8 forum, the members would cover how to use the Magic Remote that came with the TV. Apparently, the forum is strictly aimed at PQ. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for help. Thanks, anyway, for setting me straight.

Apparently, the forum is strictly aimed at PQ. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for help. Thanks, anyway, for setting me straight.
I think the problem is, in your first post nowhere did you say anything about this being about a C8 and I am going to assume the AN-MR188A is the magic remote....and that is my point! No one had a clue what you were referring to....and now that you said magic remote, someone can probably help knowing what this is in reference to!

ARC question.

Have my C8 connected to a Bose soundbar. The Bose app is telling me it's receiving two audio tracks from the C8. (Two unique audio signals? Not sure.) This never changes regardless of if I'm watching cable, a blu-ray, or the Netflix/Prime app. I'm not having any issues. No audio delay. I'm just curious what's going on and what the difference is between the two tracks. Bose tells me they're mono tracks, but that doesn't make sense. They seem identical from what I can tell ... and both are sending 5.1.

Thanks for any insight

It is a step up from Sony 940D we both owned ! Great picture! Blu-rays and 4K Blu-rays really look spectacular.

Sorry, bro, but as RavenBF pointed out, the meaning of your post and the model numbers were obscure to me, and I'm guessing to others as well. I'm sure if you ask about the Magic Remote and ask a question that is understandable, people will be glad to help.

P.S. Actually, I tried to Google both of the model numbers you posted initially and wasn't led to anything that suggested it was the Magic Remote. The things I found suggested you were referencing some sort of cable box, and your question about "record[ing] programs" led me to believe the same thing.

In my initial post, I tried to be very specific and thus identified the remote by it's model number: AN-MR18BA. BTW, the 2019 C8's Magic Remote is An-MR19BA. Thanks for the clarification and I hope that someone will be able to help me as this remote does have just about the worst instructions.
